I have stayed at this hotel before and am impressed by the staff who are always helpful and friendly. Like many Holiday Inn's the decor is looking a little tired but it is clean and comfortable. The pool is excellent too.
This visit was let down by the restaurant though. Poor attention to detail and attempts to overcharge me. I booked the inclusive dinner, bed and breakfast rate but when I ordered, was told that I had to pay a surcharge for my choice, even though it was the same price as other items on the menu. I assumed that the rate would include a drink too but I was told I would have to pay for my glass of water. In the event they sent a large bottle and charged me for a litre. Finally, my pot of sauces consisted of just mayonnaise and mustard -for ribs and chips! I resolved it all eventually with calls and at checkout but it was unnecessary hassle. Final gripe; when I'm paying a tray charge for food to be delivered to my room, why is the ice cream delivered with the main meal so it's melted by the time I'm ready to eat it?

The hotel is well placed for driving but is a rather shabby holiday inn. Most rooms are on the first floor and it's quite a struggle to climb so many stairs with a big suitcase. My keycard rarely worked in the door, so I had to go up and down those stairs to reception many times...
The staff were unfortunately rather useless. The phone didn't work in my room, and despite telling reception on two different occasions, nothing was done about it.
It was also impossible to get wifi in my room. After mentioning this to reception after checking in, I then spoke to an external IT consultant (linked to Holiday Inn) and he assured me he would tell the staff to get the router checked. The next day I informed reception about the problem again, but it seemed nobody really cared. When I checked out and told themagain about the problem, they seemed to think it was my problem for not phoning the IT consultant again (difficult due to phone not working!)
Breakfast was OK, although I felt like a prison convict with so many staff standing around watching me eat!
Room had a rather nasty smell of fried food - it smelt like somebody had been eating fish n chips in there the night before.
Not bad for a very short stay, but definitely on the lower rungs of the ladder for a Holiday Inn.

The hotel was very good with excellent parking. The staff were welcoming and helpful particularly in the restaurant. The bed room was quiet although I'm glad we were fit as we got plenty of exercise accessing it. The room itself was lovely with everything we wanted.
The entrance to the hotel and public rooms were attractive and well cared for.

Good room, and good gym but let down by new menu. No healthy options, no green salad, no vegetables. Oh and no BBC 4 either.

We love staying at this particular Holiday Inn when visiting family or walking The Thames Path. The staff are lovely, Those in the restaurant are friendly and attentive, reception are welcoming and the housekeeping staff are brilliant; nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are delicious. The pancake machine is a fantastic addition and, when it broke down, chef cooked one from scratch, thank you. The room was clean, comfortable and relaxing...as usual.

Every single time i return to this hotel i am truely amazed, very welcoming helpfull friendly staff that can not do enough for you. One of my favorite holiday inns and i have stayed in pretty much all of them in the uk and this is in my top three.

I stayed for one night last week and wished I was staying for longer!
Everyone was lovely, the facilities were excellent and I actually managed to sleep! (a rarity for me away from home!)
Used the little gym and the pool and very happy with both.
If I wanted to get away for a couple of days they will be seeing me again! To balance it out, I'll just say... I would have liked a hairdryer in the room and perhaps a cheaper 'light bite" menu would have been a nice option.

First, if you call to make a booking it's 10ppm...if you call the hotel
for some help it's 10ppm....this I don't like at all,!!!!!!!
Check in great very good service, if your have to check out early
they won't to charge extra, even when you have paid in full for the room.!!!!!!
Other than the above, very clean rooms and good service.
