This hotel is in an industrial area so not in the city center but was fine as I was there for business trip.
It is well maintained, the staff were friendly and efficient. I was impressed with breakfast.

Good stay - very noisy room however. The dinner menu was adequate and extensive - the steak was excellent and the desserts tasty. The Buffet Breakfast was very good with an extensive range of foods and drinks.

This was our second stay at the Gent Expo Holiday Inn. The room was very spacious and clean, and had everything you need. The staff were very friendly and courteous and arranged for purchase of tram tickets and tourist information.
Our stay coincided with the Ronde Van Vlaandaren and was able to keep my bicycle in my room, therefore providing peace of mind.
Overall, the hotel is conveniently located for visits to Gent and the wider area and has great access to the motorway and tram network. We will definitely return!

Having recently stayed in this hotel for business over the weekend I must remark that Ir was overall disappointing and would find it difficult to return again.
Initially we arrived after a very long journey only to be told that we had booked 2 nights instead of 3. To our concern it turned out that the receptionist had mistaken my name for another persons and tried to add an extra night onto my account. However, after protest and confirmation a troublesome experience was averted and we where checked into our room. I was surprised to find that the inner rooms looked out in the atrium area. This was for guest dinning. It left me somewhat concerned that all the inward facing rooms offered reduced privacy as they were inward looking into each room which may put some people off. We simply left our curtains closed during our stay which made it feel a little miserable. Inner rooms also suffered from a "greenhouse effect" in that it made them too warm due to the large glass roof over the Atrium. The air conditioning was useless and not very effective which did not help matters.
Generally I found the hotel to be a little drab and in need of a renovation. It was tired and dated and felt a little overpriced for our particular stay. The beds we're not that comfortable but served a purpose. We spent very little time in the hotel due to working over the weekend, which may have been a blessing as our only visit to the hotel bar was somewhat below par service wise and didn't encourage a repeat visit anyway.
The location for us was well suited at the time as we we're working next door in the exhibition center. However, I may choose to travel further to avoid using this hotel next time. My mind is not made up yet. Access into Gent is well serviced via a tram that is quite frequent. It costs (at writing) 3 euro per person and the ticket lasts for one hour. A return journey is effectively 6 euro. It saves trying to drive around this location given that there are a number of renovations and road diversions at present at the Expo center.
There is a supermarket about 15-20 minutes walk if you feel like a stroll (or 5 minute drive), It is just a little further over the river, but accessible none-the-less. A little further and you will find a well known pizza restaurant and another sit down restaurant.
I sincerely hope that your stay is better and please don't be put off of this hotel, just make sure you get a good rate and hopefully a smile from the staff!
