Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MrsG2 Great location for docks
This is the 2nd time we have stayed here, reception & bar/restaurant areas are nice. The 1st room we had was a double at front of hotel this was the largest of the two rooms & seemed a little bit better condition, it had a good view of the ferry & cruise terminals. It had everything we needed for 1 night (although a small fridge would have been nice). The 2nd room was a twin at the rear of the hotel, view again over the dock & car parks, this room was smaller again had the basics (no fridge though). But both view great for seeing the cruise ships. The only problem we had was noise from other guests, not sure if it was thin walls or just noisy guests. We will stay her again as always the best value.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by david112233 A lot of details spoiled my experience
I stayed in the hotel for two weeks. A few annoying problems of Holiday Inn hotels:
- The rooms were lack of refrigerators, to increase revenues of the restaurant. It caused a lot of discomfort for me.
- I paid for the most high-speed Wi-Fi , but the wireless Internet was very slow, the wired Internet was unavailable.
I tried to solve above problems, with no success. For an employee on intensive business trip abroad, above problems were significant.

This hotel caters for cruise passengers, conference and show visitors and groups of workers. The hotel is busy and noisy. Rooms are needing a refresh and the overall concrete construction does not make it the prettiest or most appealing of hotels in the chain. I stay to get points and that's all.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Givemeabreak13 Update the bedrooms and it's a winner
Everything you would want from a holiday inn, clean, conveniently located and real humans providing the service.
The bedrooms and bathrooms although spotless are a little 70's and not conducive with anything other than sleep (eyes closed I guess)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Gwombles Good location, close to everything
Was greeted by Andy & he made us feel very welcome from then on. Great location, close to cruise terminal, car hire & local shopping centre.
Breakfast & dinner options were good & all staff were very nice.
Did have a problem with toilet, mention to staff, was fix, then broke again so hubby fix it to get us through to check out.
Would recommend for location & friendiness of staff

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Revolted Knock this hotel down
This is definitely one of the worst places we have stayed. The exterior of the building looks very dated and the bedroom we had was very poor. It was very run down, the carpet was grubby, the furniture was worn, it wasn't very clean and the paintwork was peeling. The room had a smell of damp. This place needs to be knocked down and a modern hotel built that justifies the prices that are charged.

Enjoyed a 1 night stay here in August. Booked online on site directly. Check-in was quick and easy. Room had a view of some of the cruise ships.
Although I asked about the parking charge and was told £7 for the day we weren't actually charged for it. Was able to park in car park whilst going on a tour of the Queen Elizabeth - one of the Cunard ships.
Restaurant at Breakfast time was hectic, but there was a wedding there so maybe busier than normal. Plenty of food available and Staff were friendly.

Very accomadating, helpful, and overall made a lovely one night stay. Room did not have a fridge but not a problem. Standard room double bed which I prefer as don't like sleeping in single beds! Tea coffee facilities.
Restaurant food, sea bass was delicious thank you.
I will be back again soon. Thank you Holiday Inn.
This hotel also helped the hotel opposite in need, when seven fire engines arrived and other emergency services. The other hotel customers had to evacuate in dressing gowns, babies etc so well done once again to you!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Davinia Surprisingly good food!
Slight problem getting to hotel as sat nav tried to take us through docks but once arrived there was ample parking & easy walk to shopping centre & Southampton Solent Uni which we were visiting.
Room standard pretty basic but the food was a pleasant surprise- we were late so had room service which was prompt & good value - particularly enjoyed the bottle of Prosecco! However the best surprise was the quality of the breakfast, presided over by very efficient and courteous staff who were obviously keen to do the best job.

Enjoyed our stay, good room and good food, just not on to pay top rate for a room and then get stung with a £7 a night car park fee for the privilage of staying there. Just 'NOT RIGHT' Holiday Inn!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Thrag Very Disappointing
We have been loyal customers of IHG for many years having achieved Elite status before retirement. They have been our first choice in Europe & the USA. The HI Southampton was a total disappointment. The rooms were tired albeit clean, the furniture was worn & in need of replacement. The bed was the worst we have ever slept in or rather tossed & turned in for several uncomfortable hours. The staff were great and the food very good. But the bill was excessive - we have stayed in other HI's in the UK for 30% of these prices with higher quality. If this had been a first experience it would have been our last.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Zebede Expected better
In a nutshell I expected better from this hotel, the room was a very shabby, the shower was dirty, the breakfast would have been better if hotter and fresher, in all rather pants.
I was a bit shocked when I got a bill for parking too.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by AndyDM Holiday Inn At Southampton Docks
The hotel is great it you are starting a cruise from Southampton. Our room was comfortable, but quite noisy from the traffic along the main road...there is a drain cover on the road which clanks every time a vehicle hits it!
Our dinner/bed and breakfast deal was excellent....good food but menu a bit limited. Hotel is very comfortable, close to docks and shops. Although we did not use them there are good fitness/pool facilities

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Roadsterlane Good location
Stayed for 4 nights with a lovely view to the harbour, with different cruise liners to watch every morning right outside the window.
The Dinner, Bed and Breakfast package was however a mistake, as the choice is rather limited, so in the future B+B will do. Breakfast quite good.
Restaurant rather cold and impersonal, more like a cafeteria (no table cloths)
Less than half an hours drive to Beaulieu was convenient.

Very comfortable Hotel. We have stayed here on three occasions en-route to our cruises. Position of hotel is ideal for walking into town and is in a prime position to reach the Cruise Terminals. Check in very easy with Honours.

I had not visited this hotel before but I was on business in Southampton so booked. My sat nav did not recognise the location so had to ask. The hotel is not terribly easy to find and there are apparently 2 Holiday Inns in the town which makes life difficult. The room was lovely, temperature perfect and the staff very helpful. Breakfast was good and service good. I will repeat my stay when next in the town.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mick0205 The perfect pre/post hotel for cruise ship passengers.
I went on a cruise from Southampton & stayed the evening before the departure at the Holiday Inn. It was easy to find. I opted to leave my car at the hotel which i pre-booked. All the arrangements were easy and even had transfers to ship! Brilliant. The rooms were comfortable & clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. I recommend this hotel & I will be using it again. Very good.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cruise2gether GREAT START TO A HOLIDAY
This is the second year we have used the cruise stay and park package at the Southampton Holiday Inn. Hotel staff extremely polite and very helpful. Room very good. The hotel restaurant is good quality too and good choice of menu, although service was somewhat protracted. Only complaint in the hotel was that in our corridor food trays littered the floor outside numerous rooms and they were not removed but still there on the morning we departed. Not a nice sight. Just one other complaint is the staff on the central telephone booking department. When I rang to confirm the booking and pay the bill for the room, I had a young man who was so rude and spoke to me in such an awful way I had to put the phone down as he would not transfer me. I was extremely upset and did mention it to thenext young man I spoke to who said he would report it. I have NEVER had this before ever with any company but I do find the website difficult to manage, which is also not usually the case.

Whole experience made a great start to our cruise holiday. Everything was made easy for us - staff were excellent. Had a room on top floor - very quiet. Breakfast was full english buffet style - plenty to choose from. Would definitely stay there again. Cost of park and stay was only marginally more than cost of parking our car at cruise terminal. Efficient taxi service to terminal dealt with by hotel staff.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by German83 no good value for money
the entrance and breakfast area is nice but unfortunately they did not decorate the rest of the hotel. Rooms very dated.
Also parking is a bit pricy with 7pounds if you consider that you can park across the street for 5pounds for 24h which is even closer to the city centre!
