Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 business stay it is clear that the facility is undergoing some upgrades. BUT we should NOT be charged the AFTER upgrade price while it is clearly in need of upgrade. The PRICE is way out of line with the value of the facility. February 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and superb breakfast Holiday Inn Southampton is in the midst of some renovation on the ground floor but the standard of the breakfast and the welcome of the staff was as good as ever. The location of the hotel is perfect for shopping as well as wonderful views of the shipping movements in Southampton. February 4, 2016

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Refurb needed Although there was a refurbishment project in progress, the rooms need the same attention. It's the second time I have stayed in this hotel in the last 12 months, and the previous time, the food in the restaurant was very disappointing; lettuce in the prawn cocktail was brown and well part it's use date. The mashed potato served, was dried out and inedible. February 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stop for business travel Despite the fact the hotel is currently undergoing some major refurbishment on the ground floor, the staff managed wonderfully with temporary check-in facilities, temporary breakfast-room facilities, etc. So well done staff. The hotel provides a nice peaceful night when on business travel. I look forward to returning when they have completed the refurbishments. January 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reasonable stay but confusion over bill The hotel is being renovated but that does not detract from the comfort of the stay. The interior is slightly dated, but the hotel is clean and comfortable. There was some confusion at check out, with the receptionist claiming I had been checked out by a colleague despite the fact that I was not travelling with any colleagues! The situation was eventually resolved, but it was an unnecessarily confusing check out. January 31, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bad service I waited 1h15 for my dinner to be served in my room and the waiter did not even apologise for that (1st call : it will arrive in around 25mn - 2nd call : What have you ordered, I'll check and call you back in 5mn but nothing happened after that - 3rd call : we are sorry, we are doing our best) For the breakfast, I waited a long moment before being placed. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Highly professional hoteliers I had just declined to stay in an awful hotel in Southampton, The Fl.... Du......, so it was a joy to go to the Holiday Inn where the staff were polite and professional and where I felt I could relax in peace and privacy in the knowledge that if I needed anything, I could ask for it. My room was cold and the heater didn't work and the staff responded immediately with electric fires, which warmed the place up perfectly. It was a bore having to listen to Sky News in the bar, where most people go to converse, not to listen to Sky News, but the barman tried to turn it down. The breakfast was bounteous and delicious. A great stay - it seems that the Holiday Inn is in the business of making your life easy so you can get on with whatever you have come to do - and they did this faultlessly. Thanks. January 25, 2016
