Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Service, friendly staff I stayed here for business and found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and, unlike other Holiday Inns I have stayed in, the orange juice wasn't watered down. IMy business appointment was at the Hospital and the reception staff were able to tell me exactly how to walk there and approximately how long it would take. My only complaint is that the bed was a little too soft for my liking but all in all a pleasant stay and one that I will be repeating April 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by miss v morgan Sadly this new hotel was not all it was supposed to be.....heating wasn`t working properly and the "hot" water was pretty non-existent....not a great stay and far too much money for what they provide. Sorry to say will not be using this hotel again. March 31, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very convenient for the airport The rooms are very comfortable and well-equipped. The only niggle is, why do they put only one armchair in a double-occupancy room. The roof-top restaurant is very good, with good prices. being an airport hotel, it would have been nice to have some sort of breakfast provision for those taking early morning flights. Overall though, very handy for the airport and very comfortable. March 26, 2013

All in all a fantastic stay and to top it all the night staff member (sorry cannot remember his name) very kindly posted an important document for me as he walked home after his shift. If I am ever in the area again I would have no hesitation in booking again. Thank you. March 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CLEAN, NEW, MODERN..CLUELESS RECEPTION On checkout the first thing I said after can I please check out was that I had misplaced my car park ticket. He proceeded to work my bill out and asked me to sign the bill. I pointed out that the car park charge was not on..." do you have a car parked here" he said.. this is where it all went wrong he said I had to phone a number to explain the situation and pointed to a stand in the door. I went to this door to find it had the restaurant times on..he then came to see for himself and moved to the ticket machine and said there` s the number so I called it and it was the hotels number! letting him know this another person advised him that HE had to call to let them know about the situation (kind of expected that) the bill was finally sorted and when looking at the receipt he had over charged me. Pointing this out he tried to refund me but couldnt so he said we will do this today and send an amended receipt by e-mail. No e-mail was sent. Drove to the gate and pressed to explain the situation (as advised) I was then told to pay the fee, advising them of what had just taken place he called the hotel and 5 minutes later I was on my way. Great looking new hotel but not only clueless receptionist but adamant that he was advising me correctly. Yes I lost my ticket but this should never be a problem. if this happens to you then allow 20 minutes for check out. Glad to see a Holiday Inn in Southend as I normally have to travel to Basildon as its the closest Holiday Inn...think I would rather travel 12 miles next time unless more training is given February 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great hotel This was my first time staying in the hotel and it didn't disappointed. Brand new, rooms were spotlessly clean. Stayed in the executive room,l nice and spacious. Took a while to understand the air conditioning system but asked reception for help. Ate dinner in the restaurant food, was good although desserts took a while to come out and as others have mentioned the seats under the vents are very cold. Thew hotel is right next to the airport, which is very handy for early morning flights. Wifi is only free for 30 mins. Would definitely stay here again. February 8, 2013

There is no noise disturbance being near to the airport and the rooms are air-conditioned. Great views from the 1935 Restaurant and Bar with reasnably priced good food. February 7, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Highs & Lows Extremely comfortable bed. Good tray of beverages & snacks Bath far too high to get in or out. Could be impossible for more mature guests. Suggest a walk in shower for a basic airport overnight stay would be more sensible and quite acceptable. The 5 minute allotted time to unload car on arrival is absurd. Our taxi driver had to leave his cab in atrocious weather to come back to have ticket stamped at reception in order to leave car park. 15 minutes would be reasonable Very surprised at charge for Wi fi use also. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great stay friendly staff We stayed on what was probably the coldest weekend in January, and the hotel was warm and comfortable . The room over looking the airport was great. The food in the restaurant was also better than most hotels of this type, and you do need to book as its become very popular with local residents. We were not using the airport but the hotel is only a few minutes walk from the terminal building. We will go back soon . January 26, 2013

Modern new hotel with comfortable beds, good view of the airport, quiet room, very good breakfast, made our stay memorable, would stay here again. We had a slight problem with the heating because one of the key cards had to be left in the slot for it to work which was not mentioned to us at check in so we left it out when we visited family. On our return to a cold room a call to reception resolved the issue, we got the room warmed up to our setting and the fan was very quiet. January 20, 2013

The only drawback was a very soft mattress on the bed, not ideal for sufferers of bad backs. Overall my stay at the hotel was an enjoyable experience, January 18, 2013

Our room was well sound proofed as we did not realise there was a group of people singing carols in the lobby until we opened our room door. We faced the airfield and there were a couple of flights coming it but the jet noise was minimal. Comfortable beds, and a very nice bathroom with a great shower. I would definately stay here again... Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fresh & Relaxing After having had a superb Christmas Day Lunch with family it was good to go and check in easily at the hotel and stretch out in a very clean comfortable room. Fresh clean bedroom and bathroom - nice large fluffy towels, no noise from aircraft at all. Just enjoy the view. There was a very good selection for breakfast- fruit, cereals,cold buffet , cooked selection too with the option of eggs cooked to your liking. Only downside was one of those toasters to make the toast yourself - always a guessing game! Parking charges at airport hotels is always an issue but at least it is right outside the hotel! Staff were very helpful. Good choice. January 4, 2013

Restaurant on 5th floor views over airport and Essex countryside. Close to public transport - station and buses. Fast train service to London Liverpool Street Station. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by excellent new hotel recently stayed at the new holiday inn at southend airport....this is by far the nicest hotel i've stayed in in the uk........from the moment u take your car park ticket out of the machine ans u find it has your car reg number printed on it u know its first class...parking right infront of the hotel and long stayairport parking to the rear......its so easy....fast efficient service at the front desk by smartly dressed staff who know exactly what they are doing....then too the room using either of the 2 lifts ...i had room 305 which as it turs out is the largest room in the hotel...an executive room....i'd definately enquire for this room again....fully soundproofed as r all the rooms in the hotel as to mimimise noise from the airport....complimentry kit kat and biscuits and various beverages....big flat sreen tv with various freeview channels.....adustable heating and aircon......bath with shower and plenty of towels.....extremely comfy large bed......also tried the room service.....only had the chunky chips but they were very nice.........a great selection on offer........on my next visit i will definately venture up to the top floor bar....overall 10/10....probably room for improvement somewhere but i'd be pushed to find fault in this nice new hotel January 2, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Holiday Inn My stay at the Holiday Inn Southend was great my room was exceptionally quiet (to say it is at the end the airport runway), extremely modern and comfortable. The bed a pillows wonderful. The staff friendly and helpful. I ordered room service it was tasty and well presented excellent value for money. The restaurant on the 5th foloor gave amazing views of the airport runway the atmosphere was great and service very good. All in all an excellent hotel well done. November 29, 2012

Staff were very attentive, check in, and out, were very polite and attentive, restaurant server was good as well. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality hotel, everything about it is spot on! Best Holiday Inn i've stayed in and i've stayed at quite a few around the country due to work commitments. Got a free upgrade to an executive room overlooking the airport which was bob on. The hotel itself is brand new and modern and has a nice restaurant on the top floor again overlooking the airport and has got a small gym with all the expected equipment in. I look forward to staying there again over the coming months. November 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Room with a View For my aeroplane mad husband this was a dream come true. A room overlooking the apron of the airport and also wonderful views from the restaurant. The room was very comfortable and so quiet considering aircraft were taking off and landing fairly close by. We didn't have time to try the carvery as we had a family party to attend but would certainly like to try it when we stay again. The staff were all very courteous and remembered us from the day before. November 11, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by God accomodation for a disabled guest We found the hotel very good for wheelchair access although after only 4 weeks one of the lifts did not work. The only problem we found was that the air con in the restaurant meant that the food got cold very quickly and in fact the breakfast food was quite cold. November 5, 2012
