Our stay was AWESOME! Room was ready upon arrival and staff was very helpful. The Company event was great and everything was perfect right down to the Staff, food and room that was set up for Company Event was fablous. We will recommend this hotel to all friends and family. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The lobby of this hotel is beautiful. The breakfast was great. The bedroom horrible. The air conditioner didn't work properly, the bed was uncomfortable and the room was very outdated in appearance. Never will go to this one again. I wasn't greeted as an IHG member either.

Look no more. This hotel is fabulous! My son, new bride to be, wedding party, family and friends stayed here to attend the wedding in Wyandotte, 15 minutes away. The hotel is clean, updated and the rooms are cozy. The staff was super helpful, courteous and gracious when I requested another room at the very last minute. The bar stayed open to accommodate the guests late night from the reception and the room came with a full breakfast that was fresh and tasty. The hotel supplied a free shuttle to the wedding location and back until 1 am. AND the friendly driver traveled back and forth all night to accommodate the guests.
The customer service at this hotel is stellar! I give them all 5's for perfection!

My friend and I were staying there for my birthday so that we didn't have to drink and drive. The front desk dropped us off at our first destination and even offered to pick us up if it was early enough.

I stay here for business about once a month for the last two years. During that time they have upgraded the rooms and facilities and everything is to modern Holiday Inn standards. The design of the building is not the newest, but everything else has been updated. Also, the thing that makes this hotel great is the staff, who are always friendly and professional! The breakfast buffet is really good too!

Leaking roofs, rooms were not vacuumed, bathtub was extremely dirty. Front desk personnel failed to communicate well when I requested things. The manager was not made aware of some grievances I had about my stay because it took close to 3 days for the manager to contact me after the spoke to the front desk. My room got flooded from a leaking ceiling. I was not informed about this prior to the stay. I was not even helped to relocate to a new room. Poor service.

My only issue with our stay is that when I made the reservations I specified that I wanted to use my points. When I checked out I learned that it was not booked using my points and I ended up paying out of pocket.

Disappointed in my stay here. The hotel room was in need of remodelling. Wallpaper was, in some places, unstuck from wall. Pulling drapes had marks on them which looked like dried blood. Bathroom was dirty and needed an update. Breakfast was good and staff courteous

Great Staff, Clean facilities, Updated rooms. Everyone I came in contact with was very friendly. From check-in to restraunt/bar to workers in the halls one of the best staffs ever, and I have been to alot of these over the years.

I was in town for a wedding, and I was thoroughly impressed by the overall look and feel of the hotel. The lobby and rooms were well-furnished and clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. In the morning, their inclusive breakfast buffet was amazing, one of the best that I've had while staying at a hotel.

Stay away from this hotel. The first room we checked into had bugs; I was told "sorry we are laying mulch and its sending bugs into the rooms. The handy man is spraying." The "replacement room" had a bed skirt with literally crusted up vomit on it.
This hotel is also very OUTDATED, looks like the 70s.
I wouldn't stay here. I am still waiting for a call back from the GM regarding this awful experience. This hotel shouldn't be allowed to be part of Holiday Inn.

Fitness equipment is outdated. Some of the oldest I've seen in the holiday inn chain. Equipment next to the pool area doesn't work properly.
I've been a platinum member for two years now and I keep getting recognized as a gold member. Only location where this happens.

My husband & I decided to stay the weekend with our kids to have a little stay-cation & enjoy the pool. The girls at the front desk did not seem to like their jobs very much. Only one was friendly during our stay.They took care of our problems & concerns but were very short & seemed like we were bothering them. We had our toilet clog & not function properly the last day & a half of our stay, the bathroom was dirty and the air conditioning didn't function properly. The room also smell musty and had a foul odor. I did tell the front desk about the toilet & maintenance came down to fix it but after the way the girl responded like she was bothered I didn't even bother to let them know about the dirty bathroom , air condidtioning issue or the fact that the toilet was really never fixed. We ended up using the bathroom by the pool for the remainder of our stay.One more concern is that the pool wasn't very clean, there were wads of hair stuck to the bottom & floating around. We were however able to relax, even though there was a room full of girls next to us we couldn't hear a thing. The girls that work in the dining room were very friendly and accomodating. The cleaning ladies were very nice, approachable & helpful. I have worked in customer service in the past & I don't expect red carpet service but a little smile or even a friendly disposition would have been appreciated and does go a long way. The front desk is the first point of contact when staying at a hotel and dealing with unfriendly people did not make me excited to stay or make me want to refer this hotel. I am by no means trying to be a complainer but I do know issues can not be fixed unless they are brought to light. I do hope that if I ever do decide to stay here again that I will be able to have a great experience and write a better review.

We had my daughter's wedding reception in the banquet rooms here and we couldn't have been happier. Great prices (and I really shopped around first), great food, and great service. They even helped us clean up and pack everything away afterwards. Spent the night - very clean, comforatable, and had a great breakfast in the morning. I would recommend this to everyone I know.

The Southgate Holiday Inn is the best hotel in Southgate. Clean and quiet. (They actually have a quiet time where revelers can gather downstairs if they insist on revelling!!). Best bed and linens of all the Southgate hotels. Only reservation is that the hostess on duty didn't give us the best directions to our room, but we figured it out anyway. We'll be staying here every time we visit our family in Southgate!

We recently stayed at this hotel for a party that we threw, and our 2 year old daughter was with us. Her favorite stuffed animal was left behind on the day that we checked out because it was tangled in the sheets, and we were in hurry to go to the Tigers game. I've called this location NUMEROUS times to find the missing hippo, and left messages, and all I keep getting is "We haven't washed the sheets yet from that day," or "It could possibly be under the bed, I'll send someone up to check and call back," with NO PHONE CALL BACK. I cannot believe the customer service at this location. This item was invaluable to them, but EXTREMELY valuable to my 2 year old daughter who has gone a week without sleeping because she does not have her hippo. I definitely will not be visiting this place again, and we come here EVERY YEAR for our aunt's birthday because she loves Charlie's Chop House, we will be finding a new location to celebrate her birthday at!

Having spent several nights here over the last five years, I can attest that the management has indeed spent time, effort and funds to upgrade this hotel over the years. The main restaurant is very mediocre (Charlies Chophouse) and has a lot of quickly prepared fried foods and overcooked low quality meats -- not what you would expect from a Chophouse.
The breakfast buffet is sub-standard and contains a lot of out of the box/food service prepared meals instead of fresh foods prepared from basic raw foods. Orange juice is canned versus fresh squeezed, cereal is from a box instead of made from raw ingredients (i.e. muesli etc.), muffins are flavorless and were obviously commercially baked elsewhere. I often choose to drive down the street to Tim Horton's instead.
The parking lot is always strewn with windblown garbage including bottles, cans, plastic bags, and fast food bags everywhere. Sending the grounds staff outside 2-3 times a day to pick up garbage would be a wise investment.
Also, there is no large lighted signage on Northline Road or on nearby I-75 to inform visitors of its location right off the freeway.
The hallways are dark and musty. They need new fresh lighting, fresh carpeting and a new coat of paint. Also, several trays of food from room service where lingering in the hallways for hours creating an unpleasant odor throughout the hotel. Maybe sending a restaurant busboy/girl to check the hallways every hour would be a wise move. This has been a consistent problem over the years that never gets addressed despite my many suggestions to improve this situation.
Front desk staff is very friendly and the main reason I return.

This is a local hotel for me, but I always come here for a stay-cation with my son. He loves the huge pool and game room. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Rooms are always clean. Love the breakfast buffet in the morning!

Front lobby is beautiful and the area by banquet facility. Staff who treated us was very kind and helpful. Beyond those areas I feel attention is needed. Hallway carpeting needs badly to be cleaned. Seeing dirty carpets makes me afraid of what else there could be in the facility. Wall paper in the hallways should never be bubbled or ready to peel off. Made me not want to stay and this was before I saw inside of room. In the bathroom alone there were several things. Rusty fixtures in bathroom, grout needed to be redone as it looked funky. Floors near floor boards really need to have more attention. Clean can NEVER be overdone!
