Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by accomodating staff we extended our stay but had to change rooms. the staff was very accomodating about giving us a late check out and then move vice loading stuff back into our car. friendly staff on all shifts. May 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel - good position Clean and well presented hotel. Pool small but adequate. Can't comment on breakfast. Good position for walking into town - about 15 mins - or about 5 mins to Trolley terminus. St Augustine is interesting and attractive but VERY TOURISTY. May 14, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Weekend escape Convenient location, healthy walk to the historic area, good value May 12, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff, super clean room, and very comfortable bed! Amanda at the front desk and also Roslyn went out of their way to be helpful and nice. They made you feel special and they also wanted to be assured everything was to your liking. A very pleasant stay and would recommend to my friends. Room was also great! May 1, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Just OK Based on other reviews I read about this property, I was not expecting much. Overall, the hotel was better than expected, but not as nice as many Holiday Inn Express hotels. They do nothing to recognize thier Platinum Elite members and the breakfast at the hotel is overpriced for the average person. Most HIE provide free breakfast coupons to Platinum Elite members but not this one. Unfortunate. April 29, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean and good quality This is second time I have stayed here and can only endorse my first impressions. Linen was exceptional quality and ultra clean. Room spacious and well equipped with large flat screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee and tea maker, table and chairs and great storage. Bathroom again spotless and great quality towels with nice soap etc provided. I took the breakfast package price this time and I am glad I did. the breakfast was great, good choice of hot food, cereals, fruit, yoghurt etc. It was buffet style but staff on hand to cook eggs your way and help with coffee and assist persons unable to get their own food. Staff were all very courteous and polite with a happy demeanour. The walk to the historic district is easy, pleasant and safe. Took us only a few minutes and allows you to see more of this charming city than you would driving and then having the problem of parking. There was no bar open when we returned but really, do you visit St Augustine to drink at the hotel? Not a problem. April 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Excellent place !! Close to everything !! The staff could not have been better from top to bottom !! I`ll stay again soon I hope . April 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Staff was great, rooms were nice and clean. No problem with parking at hotel. Walked to Old Trolley which can take you downtown for the day. Trolley last stop is around 4:30 though. I had my service dog and was treated properly. April 16, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Nice Staff, Could use some renovations. The staff were all VERY friendly and the beds were amazing! The hotel was in an excellent location, close to everything. However, I booked the King with Whirlpool. The room itself could use some updated carpet and tubs. My husband and myself had to clean the whirlpool before we could get in it. Also, room service is only served during certain hours. I've stayed at many holiday inn's and I guess I just expected more for the room. April 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to Stay We were completely satisfied with everythig overall. Friendly staff, really comforable beds, coffee in room was really great. Had extra stocked the second day. The room is really large compared to others we have stayed at in the area. Location was very good and bus took us to Ripleys and back the first day. Close to good resturants and to the attractions. Spent very little time in our car. Only downside was we had to wait for our room to be cleaned the second day and it was 3:00PM. I was done quickly and throughly. I would stay here again if we were to return to St. Augustine. April 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent service by excellent staff Reserved about 20 rooms for a wedding in the area and had guests arriving from 3 days beforehand to the day of the wedding. Staff couldn't have been any nicer at coordinating the handing out of our hospitality bags, trolley tickets, room change requests, helping our guests understand what was going on when...and our wedding wasn't even AT their facility, we just all had rooms there! They know their stuff! In the weeks leading up to our event, every phone call we made with questions or requests was treated as if it was the most important thing they had to do at that time. Weather was horrible for the wedding day and they made sure we were comfortable in a side room so we could meet and greet family members all together. They made phone calls for us, supplied forgotten personal items - they made us feel welcome and cared about. The housekeeping staff kept our rooms clean and stocked with extra linens and amenities; all TVs worked great; internet access was free and worked well. Location is within easy walking distance of St. George Street and the trolley center. The dining area was clean and neat and we found the food more than acceptable in price, choice, and flavor. Our family farewell breakfast was staffed well and the ample amount of food was fresh, hot, and delicious. Both check-in and check-out were flawless. I cannot thank the staff enough for all of their help! March 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Visit to St Augustine We enjoyed ur brief visit to St Augustine and we found the staff at the hotel very helpful. We had some car problems and they helped us get in contact with a dealership that was able to help us. The hotel was located in a convenient location and the room was very comfortable. We were somewhat disappointed that the trolley tours stopped at 4:30 PM but that's life. March 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by St Augustine Holiday Room was clean which is important to me. The toilet clogged and I got stuck in the elevator but it was immediately addressed by the staff. The equipment in the gym was good. There are no free weights but that did not matter to me personally. There were no towels in the gym or wipes. March 21, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor front desk service and less than average room While the evening staff person who checked me in was very pleasant, the next morning I was very dissatisfied with the treatment by the male staff member running the front desk. He was less than helpful and bordered on rude. I decided not to eat breakfast at the hotel based on his treatment of me and my family. When I checked out, he didn't say "thank you", "hope you enjoyed your stay", "please come again" or anything. He just took the room key and smiled. After the FANTASTIC treatment and wonderful room my family received as a Priority member at the Savannah HIE, I was very disappointed with St. Augustine; both the service and the room were lacking. If I ever return to St. Augustine, it will NOT include a stay at the Holiday Inn Historic District hotel. March 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient Great location. Great staff. It would be nice to have a bar! No recognition for priority club member. March 18, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by The room Since I had just stayed at the Fort Lauderdale HI express and suites, this was a real letdown. Although we did get a king room, it was an assisted room, which was not the problem, but not what was requested. When we arrived at 430, the cleaning staff was still vacuuming the hallway, with extension cords dragged down the hall. Thank goodness we didn't have a physical challenge. The room was less than spotless or well maintained. The drapes had rust stains on them, the comforter had stains, the bathroom faucet practically pulled out of the wall when shower was turned on. The toilet seat was askew, and to make things confusing, there were two thermostats in the room, neither seemed to adjust the temp. And what is with the 2+ smoke detectors in the room? Although I knew breakfast was not included, which it should be for the room price and condition, I was shocked to hear the 10.95 price for the all you can eat muffins, eggs, and bacon, although coffee was complimentary, but it is in the room as well. The staff was very friendly upon checking in, but when I called about the sloooow Internet, I received a " you are the only one who has complained". That was all, so we decided not to worry about the Internet, and went on a tour of the city. Overall, if our room was indicative of the rest of rooms, a revamp of cleaning and maintenance is in order. We are priority club, but received no recognition of that fact, nor any goodie bag. Not that it is needed, but appreciated. We stayed in room 327 on march 9, 2013. March 16, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by odor in room Overall satisfaction with hotel was harmed by what I believe was odor of some kind of spray used by cleaning staff. It affected comfort level of what otherwise was a nice hotel. Told person at check out and he said he would look into it. Cleanliness, bed comfort, bathroom, breakfast buffet, all the usual HIE level of comfort. March 15, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stay Great staff. I had two rooms and they were not cleaned at time of my check in . Staff rushed getting one room available. So we unload car and change to go to dinner. I was very pleased. March 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First St. Aug. visit For t he most part, our stay was good; I had requested top floor, end of hall, to avoid noise; we got the top floor but were right by the elevator, center of hall; this resulted in lots of hall noise, noisy neighbors in the adjoining room, kids racing up and down the hallway, and a bachelorette party next door!! When we called to complain it did get quieter- but a lot of it could have been avoided with a room at the end of the hall. I also did not appreciate paying for breakfast each day; we are used to this being complementary, and while your rates are already higher than elsewhere, this added to our cost; we are seniors, on fixed incomes- so this made it worse. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Experience I stayed last week for 3 nights while exploring St. Augustine. The location was close to the trolley and a shuttle picked us up at the front door. The hotel is a good value and close to the downtown historic district although it would be a pretty good walk. The only down side to my stay was I discovered when I arrived home that I had left my phone charger in the room. This was entirely my fault but I thought I would call the hotel to see if perhaps they could return it. I spoke with a young lady who I believe was named Amanda. She took my phone number and promised to call me after she checked with housekeeping. I have now been waiting 6 days and still no return call. I expected at least a courtesy call to inform me one way or the other. February 26, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointer We stayed twice and the first experience was good and the second was not because I used points instead of cash. They could not exstend our stay another night which was fine but when I asked for other hotel info. They said all the hotel were full in int area. As I was leaving they were ginging other guest hotel information in the area to try. February 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place We really had an enjoyable stay at this Holiday Inn. The staff, Kwame and Roseline, were OUTSTANDING and made you feel so welcome. We are smokers and it was wonderful to have a smoking room. Also, it was nice to have a place close to the Historic district and a shuttle that would pick us up and return upon request. It saved a lot of time trying to figure out how to get to places we were not familiar with. We would definitely stay here again if we return to St. Augustine. February 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service and nice hotel! My boyfriend and I was in the area for a couple days. Enjoyed staying at the Holiday Inn. Very clean hotel, staff very friendly and courteous. Room is cleaned and beautiful hotel. Appreciate check in desk clerk for acknowledging my Priority Club Status and received a nice gift bag as a token of appreciation for my loyalty. Looking forward to staying with you all again in the future. February 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Staff & Payment problems We were scheduled to stay for 2 days but while asking a question at the desk about a needed shower chair, we heard a member of the staff make a comment to another that there was another guest who will be a problem. I don't think she thought we could hear her. We decided at this time that we did not want to stay where we weren't welcome. We also had problems with billing. Upon leaving one night early, I was given a paid in full receipt but upon reviewing my credit card records, a charge was placed, pending, against my card for two nights plus the night we did stay and then two days later another charge for an additional night was placed, pending, against our card. For several days, we had an amount equal to 4 nights charged against our card. This was an amount we could not utilize until it was removed. It is now 5 days later and a charge for one night still remains against our card in pending even though one night has been posted. A call to the staff did no good, I was told that it would come off when the credit card company decided to remove it. February 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by a new day Everything seemed t6o be refreshed. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast buffet was the best I have seen in any hotel. The staff were all pleasant and eager to help. January 30, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not all I hoped for I thought the accomodations were alright. The noise level from young guests was disturbing, and I found emesis outside my door when I left in the morning. My main issue was with the staff facilitating the shipping of an item left behind. They had all the necessary information but did not put a name on the shipment, therefore, an item that should have arrived in 2-3 days took over a week to get to its destination. A simple but necessary attention to detail and their attitude regarding this was, oh well, sorry. Like many Holiday Inns of late...disappointing. January 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very comfortable bed and excellent room cleaning, etc... service. We were welcomed upon arrival. The room was of high quality and very clean during our 3 day stay. The staff went out of their way to provide for a comfortable room. The restaurant was fine for breakfast and a great value. January 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room and great service. I recommend this hotel, excellent attention and very confortable room. January 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, comfortable, and good location I stayed at this hotel recently with my daughter and sister-in-law and could not say a bad word about it. Our room was spotless and had tea/coffee facilities. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the towels nice and soft. The only thing I had to request was more toilet supplies (shower gel/shampoos/conditioner) for the room as they only had enough for one guest. The hotel is a good ten minutes walk from the historic district - but is near a very good restaurant "The Raintree" which we ate in on our way home from visiting all the sights. Would highly recommend this hotel . January 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Definitely Worth It! This was our second stay within two months. During this visit, we could tell the hotel was full of families with kids due to Christmas holiday and Nights of Lights. However, check-in was fast and friendly. Room was clean and smelled clean. Breakfast Buffet was very filling. The young woman working the front desk the evening we checked in was most helpful recommending restaurants. Staff in the hotel's restaurant was always friendly and attentive. Purchase the Breakfast with your room in advance to save money. We were greeted by every hotel employee we encountered. Hotel is within blocks of both trolley tour companies. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting St. Augustine. You can't beat the price or the location. January 9, 2013
