I enjoyed the stay but as a note for those coming to visit...the hotel is within walking distance but I would suggest driving down to parking area because there is a ton of walking around down there...for the hotel, it would be nice to have some type of shuttle to the historic areas

Every time we are in travel mode to Florida or back we always stay here. Our experience has always been very positive!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Roaches, no towels, no Wifi
We stayed at this location 3 years ago wen visiting St. Augustine, and we were so happy with our choice at that time. We have since always chosen a Holiday Inn for accommodations when we are traveling, and have always had a good experience. So naturally, when we chose to visit St. Augustine again to celebrate my birthday with friends, we made reservations at the same hotel we stayed in last time.
Unfortunately, our experience this time was very different. Within 5 minutes of arriving in our room, we heard the toilet running. This continued every couple of hours for our entire stay. Then on our first night there, we had to kill a nearly 3 inch roach (no exaggeration) that was running up the wall next to the bed. The air conditioner was extremely noisy and woke us all up several times in the night. It sounded like a truck was driving through our room. The WiFi never had enough signal to be useful.
On our second day, we returned from touring the city extremely hot and sweaty, all anxious to take showers. Our beds had been made and our dirty towels had been collected, but no clean ones were left for us. We were close to the gym so we just went in there and grabbed a stack of towels. We noticed that night that even though red juice had accidentally been spilled by us the night before on one of the beds, the sheets were not changed. There was a still a large red spot on the white sheet.
On our third and final day, we were contemplating whether to eat breakfast at the buffet in the lobby at a ridiculous $13.99 per person, or venture in to the historic district. While sitting around deciding and getting ready to pack, we again saw a massive roach running across the floor and then across my friend's bare foot. He kicked his foot only to have it fly on to the bed where my friend and I were sitting. Screaming and chaos ensued, as you can imagine, while our husbands tried to find it and kill it. It ran behind the TV stand, and returned again about an hour later, at which point we were able to kill it. We all immediately grabbed our stuff, quickly packed, and got the heck out.
I was horribly embarrassed to have invited our friends along for my birthday weekend, only to have them stay in a room with all of these disgusting visitors and other issues. My friends of course are trying to make me feel better by saying it makes for fun memories and they had fun anyway, but I am disgusted. And the amount of money I spent on this two night stay, I could have stayed several nights in a cheap motel and probably had the same experience.
I'm not convinced I will return to this hotel again, and I'm certainly disappointed I am out so much money for the experience we had.
