Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looking for father We came to St. John's to do research at "The Rooms." We found this hotel close to the places we needed to visit and see. There was road work being done on the street in front of the hotel but it was not a big inconvenience. The hotel was also going through major construction but we found the work site to be clean and not too distracting. We plan to return to St. John's to do more research on the family history, so we do plan to return in the future. And, yes we did find that our father did serve in the First World War and we did find his records, something we could not find on the internet. It was wonderful to discover this priceless information. October 8, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy My room was just above construction work being done outside the hotel and was very, very noisy from light until dark. I was in the room all day the first day I was there and put up with the noise rather than have to move all my things to another room. I was working the next couple of days and thought by the time I would be returning to the room, the work would have finished. Well, I had an hour to two hours after my return each day where I could not even hear the television in the room with the sound turned on high as trucked were dumping rocks right under my window. I know I could have asked to be moved, but I have had to do that b/f at the hotel and was not eager to have to move everything. My biggest complaint was that I was not informed before taking the room that the construction was going on right outside my room. If I had been, I would have requested another room at that time. I did complain at checkout and was offered 1000 points for my discomfort. I don't think that anyone should be put in the room I was in without being advised beforehand of the noise. October 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location, slept well The location is very good if you like to get out for a walk - two nice walking trails. Short drive to airport or downtown. Furnishings are older and a bit worn. Bed and pillows are great. I sleep well here. Although, when there is an event in the hotel, there can be inconsiderate guests in the hallways noisy enough to wake the dead. Excellent front desk staff. Rooms are well cleaned but they forget to replenish supplies 20 30% of the time. October 5, 2014

We appreciated the decaf coffee and the prompt response. We received the coffee from the front desk and the next day, the decaf coffee was placed in our tray by the service staff. September 29, 2014
