Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs renovating This hotel is the only one in the downtown area. It needs to be updated/renovated...rooms all need lots of cosmetic work, especially bathrooms. Hotel is also near railroad yards, and is noisy. Staff was very nice, and bar/restaurant food was good. I travel a lot and stay at Holiday Inns whenever possible. They promised to give me 300 extra IHG points but never gave them to me. Also, I was supposed to get an upgrade based on my status and it was refused. Would not recommend this hotel. May 16, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, friendly, comfortable Stayed one night, in town for antique show. Staff very friendly, room clean, warm, and comfortable. I had planned to eat out but it was raining so ate at the bar/restaurant. It was excellent and well priced, glad I ate there. I come to St Joe twice a year and have stayed at 2 other hotels before this one. Will defiantely stay at this one from now on! May 8, 2014

Housekeeping staff had a few "grumpy" members; however, attention was given when requested. The restaurant food was average and the wait staff was adequate. For a small town hotel, we were pleased with the comfort, cleanliness, and overall fashion of the Commander's Suite. May 6, 2014

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rooms Are Poorly Maintained The common areas are very nice and the restaurant and bar are clean and well decorated. The rooms are another story. In one room, I had a plugged shower drain, making me shower in ankle deep soap scum, the climate control unit temperature button was stripped so it couldn't be adjusted, and there was peeling wallpaper everywhere. And if I could fly I could get a towel from the shower. Why the towel rack would be put as far away from the shower as physically possible is beyond me. There are many better places to stay in St. Joseph. Unfortunately, they are not downtown. After this stay, I conclude it's worth the drive to stay somewhere (anywhere) on the Belt Highway. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good downtown location, but that's about all If you need to stay near downtown St. Joseph this is an okay place. I've stayed a couple of times and it is just average. The restaurant has been good sometimes and just so so others. My room was never cleaned for my recent 3 day stay (not a huge deal it was just me ) but I felt that was lacking. TV was balky and was not sure if HBO was provided (it was listed in the guide but had no signal). I used the internet for a lot of my viewing. Internet was easy to use but a bit slow. The pool was being painted and the hotel reeked of paint fumes. Everyone I encountered mentioned how awful it was but the hotel did nothing to ease the situation. April 23, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place, great people I can tell you that as a traveler who only gets home 30 to 40 days a year and being on the road as well as being a member of most travel partnerships that I find this hotel a welcome change from most of our stays. While we cannot afford $ 500.00 a night hotels I still find that staff and the hotel itself to be the best value out there for me. Thanks again all the great staff and support on our stay. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place To Stay Great place to stay. Clean, comfortable, very relaxing. My only complaint would be that the restaurant was not staffed appropriately for a city that was holding a National Wrestling Tournament directly across the street. One staff member was working the restaurant at 7 pm when College Basketball was on and had to get a manager to put our names on the list to be seated. They had probably 10 open tables but no one to wait on them so we had to wait to be seated (behind 3 other families waiting). We sat at the bar which was great. The bartender was awesome!!!! Food was great. I would stay there anytime I was in town. March 7, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT ROOM/HORRIBLE RESTAURANT The room was clean and quiet and we were able to sleep quite well. However, the food and service in the restaurant was horrible. We had to wait quite a while for our order to be taken, and then almost an hour after that to get the food. My husband went to get our drinks off the bar after they had been sitting there for 10 minutes. He also had to get ketchup and napkins for other tables after we had asked for it. The pool and sauna area were also very nice, thought they could use a few more chairs and tables. February 26, 2014
