Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Poor housekeeping This hotel was perfectly fine in most respects. The welcome at check-in was excellent and the room seemed clean and tidy. The restaurant was a little sterile and the food nothing special (nothing wrong with it, just pretty standard). However when I used the bathroom I noticed that there were some 'odd' dirty brown marks on the inside of the door frame. I will leave it to your imagination what it actually was (obviously I have no way to determine this). Another problem was that I had a bottle of water in my room but when I went to have a drink of water I realised that it had already been opened and some had been used. I raised my concerns with the hotel at check out and the duty manager was summonsed but she didn't seem particularly interested (asked me what she could do to make up for this and promptly walked away when I said I wasn't looking for recompense). The receptionist on the other hand was excellent and gave every impression of actually caring. January 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2013 casino night Our party night (13/12/13) was a great sucess and a very enjoyable experience for myself and the other 43 in our group, staff were friendly and polite and nothing was any trouble . The whole staff from reception to house keeper were profesional and made our time there a better experience. Some of us stopped the night and again couldnt fault the room or service,Breakfast buffet was great with a wide range of food both hot and cold and all in a relaxed atmosphere. would have no problem recomending this hotel January 7, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by First night not good Our room was so small there was no room to walk round one side of the double bed, but wonderful Beth in reception sorted us out next morning after the coach tour departed and we moved to a much nicer one for the second night. The restaurant menu was still very limited as no deliveries over Christmas period but we were compensated with a bottle of wine so all in all we shall probably book there again as it's convenient for family visits. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff The main thing about the hotel is the staff. They are so friendly and always have time to talk to you and have a laugh. The hotel itself is good and the rooms are a great size.I know the staff are unable to anything about it but when the time comes to revamp the hotel thought should be given to the bathrooms. They are big and could be turned into a proper wet room. This is not a criticism but just a thought. December 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very clean and comfortable . Only stay one night very comfortable and clean. Love the swimming pool. Will stay again in 2014. December 24, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for a one night restful stay Delighted with the rooms, the receptionist (who was exceptionally knowledgeable), and the attitude of all staff that we met. Not 100% happy with the food due to the sirloin steaks ordered were quite tough in parts. However the restaurant staff were excellent and made up for the shortfall of this one aspect of our stay. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Small double bed Not the best night sleep I've ever had. There was a loud Xmas party going on but our room was far away from it which was good. Except the double was one of those small 4ft doubles. If it was just myself in the room it would be fine but with was very cramped with my boyfriend. Didn't sleep well at all. I've stayed in other holiday inns and there never been a problem with the bed. But apparently in that hotel all the doubles are that size and would need to upgrade to a family room. Other than that it is a good hotel December 11, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff I stayed 1 night at this hotel , room only , on business. Room was very clean and staff incredibly friendy and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The only thing that let this hotel down was a noisy group of guests who were very loud at 2 a.m. They must have woken the entire hotel. December 9, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mr & Mrs Moore, Norfolk. As always the staff are very helpful, pleasant and welcoming and we would always recomend Swindon to anyone. December 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great food friendly staff We booked this holiday inn on the way to Gloucester for a hockey match. After a very bust week we just wanted to relax and have a swim and nice meal. I booked the dinner bed and breakfast package. We have stayed at many Holiday Inns and I can honestly say that as far as staff and food goes, this was far and away the best. The hotel is a little tired looking and the pool small, but all was clean. Our room was quite a way from the reception but it was very quiet. ALL staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Normally with the dinner package, the food items included are nice but limited, not so here. The menu and choice were extensive and we were told that we only had to pay a little extra if we wanted the steaks. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully cooked and very flavoursome. A fantastic stay. we will definitely be returning. December 4, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic venue I stayed in Swindon delivering an induction course for two weeks. So as well as sleep I delivered the course from the hotel conference rooms too. Normally when we do this we stay in the holiday express chains up and down the country. Which to be honest are tolerable. Each venue has it's faults whether it be the food was a let down, there was no leisure facilities etc. This holiday inn was fantastic. The food was amazing and I mean all of it. Breakfast lunch and evening meals were amazing. I was informed there is a new chef who has earned a Michelin star and it shown. The room was large and clean. Pool, gym, jecuzzi and sauna. Sky sports in bar and pool table. But the staff as a room guest and conference room guest were unbeatable. Thank you so much. Definitely recommend this venue. December 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer service Every single member of staff i spoke to was friendly, cheerful and clearly enjoying their job. They made us feel welcome and we will definitely go back when we are next in the area. November 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff It is always nice to feel welcomed. The young lady on reception was delightful with a lovely smile and great attitude. It set the tone for the stay. I really did enjoy it. It was such a pleasure to be somewhere you actually felt the staff took care of you. Well done Holiday Inn Swindon! November 25, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stay made special by excellent service by friendly staff The hotel was of the good standard that you would expect from the Holiday Inn brand. The room was comfortable and clean, there were good gym and pool facilities and breakfast was a good standard (a little expensive but was balanced by the relatively cheap price of the room). The part that made the stay special was the excellent service provided by the staff - they went out of their way to ensure that our weekend in Swindon was fulfilled - helpful with directions, advice about restaurants and places to visit, arranging taxi services - nothing was any trouble whatsoever - all done with a smile! They are a great asset to the hotel! November 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fab Welsh Hospitality Great value for money, especially for families. Very clean and extremely friendly Welsh staff. The restaurant was a bit slow but we were kept well informed. Breakfirst was basic but perfectly alright. November 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful time Stayed two nights for a short break with husband and fourteen month old son. Had a wonderful stay and could not fault the hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially with our son, regards high chair and helping with his food at meal times. Breakfast lovely, would definately pay for it again. Not a sound to be heard in our room at night, our son slept right through on both nights. Have no worries about staying there again for a short break, in fact already thinking about it again for the spring. Thank you for a wonderful time. October 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Upgrade Finally! Would have been full marks but couldn't get complementary WIFi October 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by enjoyable stay Enjoyable stay nice quiet room no traffic noise or other. Good quality blackout curtains. Mattress not very comfortable but the room and bathroom very clean and tidy. Staff friendly and very helpfull. Good pool small but with lane only part no children allowed into bonus when u just want to swim. Even tell u how many lengths equates to how far you've swum bonus. And a machine in changing room that dries your swim suit! ! Good pub food in walking distance excellent tesco short distance away. Well worth a stay. October 25, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Standard stay Pool was a nice surprise but disappointing the WiFi wasn't included as standard October 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent staff Although the staff were extremely helpful & professional, the hotel did not offer value for money. The food was not of a good standard ( the pub across the road was the chosen option for 4 of the 5 evenings during the stay) and ridiculously over priced for what appeared to be food served from freezer to microwave, to table. It was only the hotel's locality for the purpose of business that the booking was made. Out of choice another booking will not be made at this hotel. October 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fair hotel for business purposes Hotel is comfortable, but over priced for what it provides (as work pays for it, that's fine for me. Wouldn't spend this sum at a hotel this outdated myself). Rooms are large and clean, but have seen better days. Complimentary use of gym is a nice plus. However, gym itself in need of renovation, equipment badly outdated, etc. Breakfast is nice and generous, with great welcoming staff. Biggest tip - avoid dinner at all costs. I ate at the restaurant several times, and they somehow manage to ruin just about everything. Not sure how. Given food level, prices are extortionate. October 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty dire Due to all three of my preferred hotels being full, this hotel was booked for me, so I had no choice. From the off, the whole experience was very poor. It is a squat two storey building with no lift and the decor is mid-1980s. the furniture in the rooms is chipped and very poorly maintained. There is no fridge, and the trouser press was broken. The iron was not a steam one, thereby giving the whole view of cheap and nasty. Little things like biscuits were also missing. As I was there for business, I needed internet access for my devices. I have a computer, two phones and a tablet, and the access to the wireless was limited to two devices which could not be changed. Unlike the Marriot which gives you 6 devices. When the internet was connected, it was slow and even using Skype there was significant breaking up. As I am in the computer industry, this was a serious climb down from what I am used to. The food was mediocre. For breakfast, poached eggs were offered, and every time I ordered them, I had to ask whether they would be coming any time soon as the delay was interminable. The food in the hot display wasn't rotated, so by the time I came down for breakfast at 845, the tomatoes were shrivelled, there was never any black pudding (even though its advertised in the literature). For dinner, the service was adequate, however, on one occasion, I was first in the restaurant when it opened, I ordered my food, only to be told that what I had ordered had run out, as there was no chicken made up! How can a hotel that is full of business people run out of chicken? Especially as a coach party had been booked later on in the evening. The hotel had the audacity to add 10% "discretionary" charge to every bill and you had to take it off to prevent paying it. Not a good example of a Holiday Inn, and I would rather travel 3 hours a day than stay here again. October 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Swindon on business Excellent service and friendly staff. Although not PC great to have option of a smoking room. October 4, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Great location and Courteous staff Recently stayed at this hotel with a superbreak offer which had breakfast and one evening meal included. Could not fault Reception staff who were very helpful and attentive. Waiting staff and the cleaners were also extremely polite and did a good job. We went to the desk in the evening that we arrived to find a coach party had just arrived and the reception was obviously very busy. So we went back to our room to wait until things had quietened down. Five minutes after we had got back to our room the receptionist rung through to us to ask if she could be of assistance. Very impressive as we didn't think she had even seen us. This hotel is in an excellent central location and this means there is always somewhere to visit in easy reach. The hotel is situated on a large plot in a rural location which makes for a restful stay and also plenty of parking when compared to the more urban Holiday Inn Express. Only criticism was that we were wrongly charged in the restaurant as though we were not on the superbreak offer and similarly when we checked out we were again presented with a bill which we had to point out was incorrect as our rate was all inclusive. Also remember that Saturdays can be booked for wedding receptions. This really had no effect on us, but we did hear a drunken guest banging on bedroom doors at around 1AM. October 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by My Stay Overall we had a good stay and enjoyed ourselves. BUT I did say we were disabled and we had a long walk to the room. We had a double bed when we expected single beds. It was very clean and the whites were dazzling. apart from the walk (which probably did us good) I hope. it was a great experience October 2, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable I found everything to be of a high standard, The breakfasts were some of the best I have ever had.The staff polite and very helpful September 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Much improved since last we visited, Used to visity ofrften but stopped about 18 montsh ago as things at that time had taken a turn for the worse. Hotel now MUCH IMPROVED. but still hard beds -or it is me?. Food and drink good quality but quite expensive as cost now includes a service charge that is shared between all staff (and possibly taxed). Water presure in our room very good, previously it was abismal. Lounge used to be out of use when weddings on site, but good initiatve from hotel allows use of another room on ground floor for guests if wedding. Swimming pool excellent as usual - staff always very helpful and attentive, September 26, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfy bed nice and clean but small bathroom Not up to normal standards of rooms for holiday inn, bed was comfy and room was clean but bathroom was tiny for 2 plus people. Also no bedding was left for the put you up bed as requested on booking. Breakfast made up for this as this was excellent, apart from not being able to help yourself to tea, coffee etc. Our drinks were cold because they were brought to us as soon as we sat down. We wanted to drink them after we had eaten. We are used to getting our own drink either from jugs/flasks or from drinks machine. Staff were polite and cheerful and it is good value for money. Good as there is a swimming pool which is open at good times. September 23, 2013
