Although the staff were extremely helpful & professional, the hotel did not offer value for money.
The food was not of a good standard ( the pub across the road was the chosen option for 4 of the 5 evenings during the stay) and ridiculously over priced for what appeared to be food served from freezer to microwave, to table.
It was only the hotel's locality for the purpose of business that the booking was made.
Out of choice another booking will not be made at this hotel.

Hotel is comfortable, but over priced for what it provides (as work pays for it, that's fine for me. Wouldn't spend this sum at a hotel this outdated myself).
Rooms are large and clean, but have seen better days.
Complimentary use of gym is a nice plus. However, gym itself in need of renovation, equipment badly outdated, etc.
Breakfast is nice and generous, with great welcoming staff.
Biggest tip - avoid dinner at all costs. I ate at the restaurant several times, and they somehow manage to ruin just about everything. Not sure how. Given food level, prices are extortionate.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by vHacked0ff Pretty dire
Due to all three of my preferred hotels being full, this hotel was booked for me, so I had no choice.
From the off, the whole experience was very poor. It is a squat two storey building with no lift and the decor is mid-1980s. the furniture in the rooms is chipped and very poorly maintained.
There is no fridge, and the trouser press was broken.
The iron was not a steam one, thereby giving the whole view of cheap and nasty.
Little things like biscuits were also missing.
As I was there for business, I needed internet access for my devices.
I have a computer, two phones and a tablet, and the access to the wireless was limited to two devices which could not be changed.
Unlike the Marriot which gives you 6 devices.
When the internet was connected, it was slow and even using Skype there was significant breaking up. As I am in the computer industry, this was a serious climb down from what I am used to.
The food was mediocre. For breakfast, poached eggs were offered, and every time I ordered them, I had to ask whether they would be coming any time soon as the delay was interminable.
The food in the hot display wasn't rotated, so by the time I came down for breakfast at 845, the tomatoes were shrivelled, there was never any black pudding (even though its advertised in the literature).
For dinner, the service was adequate, however, on one occasion, I was first in the restaurant when it opened, I ordered my food, only to be told that what I had ordered had run out, as there was no chicken made up!
How can a hotel that is full of business people run out of chicken?
Especially as a coach party had been booked later on in the evening.
The hotel had the audacity to add 10% "discretionary" charge to every bill and you had to take it off to prevent paying it.
Not a good example of a Holiday Inn, and I would rather travel 3 hours a day than stay here again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Great location and Courteous staff
Recently stayed at this hotel with a superbreak offer which had breakfast and one evening meal included.
Could not fault Reception staff who were very helpful and attentive. Waiting staff and the cleaners were also extremely polite and did a good job. We went to the desk in the evening that we arrived to find a coach party had just arrived and the reception was obviously very busy. So we went back to our room to wait until things had quietened down. Five minutes after we had got back to our room the receptionist rung through to us to ask if she could be of assistance. Very impressive as we didn't think she had even seen us.
This hotel is in an excellent central location and this means there is always somewhere to visit in easy reach.
The hotel is situated on a large plot in a rural location which makes for a restful stay and also plenty of parking when compared to the more urban Holiday Inn Express.
Only criticism was that we were wrongly charged in the restaurant as though we were not on the superbreak offer and similarly when we checked out we were again presented with a bill which we had to point out was incorrect as our rate was all inclusive.
Also remember that Saturdays can be booked for wedding receptions. This really had no effect on us, but we did hear a drunken guest banging on bedroom doors at around 1AM.

Overall we had a good stay and enjoyed ourselves. BUT I did say we were disabled and we had a long walk to the room. We had a double bed when we expected single beds.
It was very clean and the whites were dazzling. apart from the walk (which probably did us good) I hope. it was a great experience

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Filby7 Much improved since last we visited,
Used to visity ofrften but stopped about 18 montsh ago as things at that time had taken a turn for the worse. Hotel now MUCH IMPROVED. but still hard beds -or it is me?. Food and drink good quality but quite expensive as cost now includes a service charge that is shared between all staff (and possibly taxed). Water presure in our room very good, previously it was abismal. Lounge used to be out of use when weddings on site, but good initiatve from hotel allows use of another room on ground floor for guests if wedding. Swimming pool excellent as usual - staff always very helpful and attentive,

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ossie123 comfy bed nice and clean but small bathroom
Not up to normal standards of rooms for holiday inn, bed was comfy and room was clean but bathroom was tiny for 2 plus people. Also no bedding was left for the put you up bed as requested on booking.
Breakfast made up for this as this was excellent, apart from not being able to help yourself to tea, coffee etc. Our drinks were cold because they were brought to us as soon as we sat down. We wanted to drink them after we had eaten. We are used to getting our own drink either from jugs/flasks or from drinks machine.
Staff were polite and cheerful and it is good value for money.
Good as there is a swimming pool which is open at good times.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Ok for a budget traveller
I stayed in this hotel for one night. I needed a budget hotel in the Swindon area. The room was clean and well appointed. The TV received a selection of Freeview channels and the bed was comfortable.
Disappointing the hotel does not offer free wifi, only a paid service which I chose not to use. I did however have decent 3G reception in the area this hotel is located.
I used the hot tub and sauna but not the pool as there were a lot of children using it the evening of my stay. Hot tub and sauna were both fine.
Lots of onsite parking, tea/coffee making facilities and a hair dryer in the room. I did not use the restaurant.
Would be happy to stay here again if I got a budget rate, would not have paid more than I did. Pleased with the slightly later than usual 12pm check out time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Frankie13 Room poor quality/Requires a thorough freshen up!!!
We stayed over 31/08/2013 for a car show at Littlecote. Well this is the most dissapointed we have been staying in a Holiday Inn. The building itself is very dated looking (Yes I know there is little can be done about that!) but it looks grubby. The reception area was clean and fresh looking though. We were then checked in by an over the top receptionist trying too much to deliver great customer service with a shrilling voice which cut through you. We then travelled down what appeared to be a never ending corridor which actually got grubbier the further along you walked to a room which I can only say looked as though it had not been decorated in an extremely long time. On the plus side the breakfast was fresh and there was ample choice-waiting staff were very helpful and friendly. Would I recommend or go back.....Not to this particular Holiday Inn.Sorry :-(

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JD20 Friendly, helpful staff, great food, good room
My stay at this hotel was great. I need somewhere to unwind for a couple of days and this was the ideal place and will return to this hotel. The desk reception were really helpful and took time to talk to as a person and not just as a paying guest. The leisure centre was great and again the staff were very helpful. I would have like a sunbed by the pool to relax and read but apart from that it was great. Easily accessible from motorway and very quiet and comfortable. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 2childrenunder5 Second time - we had already booked after last time (if not, we wouldn't have gone)
A little better than our previous stay, but not good. Had booked over a month earlier, as last time. Had requested a quiet room. Were moved from room 220 next to the stairs to room 223. Still a bit loud, but to be fair it was a group who had been given rooms together - all on same side of hotel together to take up the floor, rather than in rooms opposite each other. There was also a constant buzz as we seemed to be next to the main electrical supply.
Second time asking for a late checkout and being told it couldn't be agreed till the morning. (late check out for priority club members?) Didn't bother and left early.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by bigtreez43 most remote room ever!!
booked this hotel over a year in advance to attend the fairford airshow, when we arrived and were given our room number it was late in the day, proceeded to our room after ordering a paper for the next day because the lady said they get them about 5am and we were going out early and i needed it for the day.
the room, whilst clean and everything working was uncomfortable because the bed was pushed agains the wall, so whoever slept on that side either had to climb over the other person or shimmy down the bed to get out, also the 2 reading lights were operated on 1 switch as opposed to individually, which was a pain, the next morning, we went downstairs at 7am (having rec'd no paper) and asked if we could be moved for that night as we were staying 2 nights, firstly she said yes, in a 'put out' kind of manner, then said she would have to check with the manager, who apparently said no, i cancelled the paper seeing as it still wasn't there and just felt very disappointed. we had stayed in the holiday inn express at terminal 5 heathrow and it was fab, so happily booked again with the hotel group as thought they would all be as good.
It definitely felt, with hindsight, that we had probably been put in a room that was used as a single normally.
ultimately, it felt as if we had been tucked away in the furthest room, down a dingy corridor which reeked of smoke. on the plus side, the room was clean, the telly and remote worked and the air con was a life saver, with just a little better customer service i would have been happy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Good Overnight Stay
The welcome I received from the receptionist was one of the best I've ever encountered - friendly and informative as well as very efficient. The room was clean and spacious with comfortable beds and efficient air-conditioning, essential on one of the hottest weekends of the year. Staff at breakfast were pleasant and efficient and the self service breakfast provided plenty of choice of a high quality with some items freshly maid to order. There was plenty of parking and the public spaces - lounge, bar and courtyard - seemed inviting.

We arrived very late and were looking for a hotel in the Swindon area en route to Cornwall from London Heathrow.
We know Holiday Inn from the USA and decided to stay there.
Everything was good - as usual. Nice room, breakfast, helpful staff, etc.
The only negative was initial confusion over the room rate - at first my wife was told the rate was ca. $250 per night!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Platinumguest2013 Spoilt by rowdy wedding party at the hotel
We have stayed at this Swindon hotel on a couple of occasions and consider it a good hotel with nice staff, in a good location to explore the Cotswolds and surrounding area. Rooms are comfortable and the breakfast is good and plentiful.
This stay was spoilt however by a huge wedding party going on at the hotel for the night of our stay.
We arrived shortly before 5pm, and checked in to be told there was a wedding reception at the hotel that night and that it would be very busy, a small room had been set aside for non wedding guests to sit in during the evening to consume their drinks from the bar.
We went down for dinner at about 7pm, to find the hotel had been overtaken by the wedding party, who were filling up the public areas of the hotel and were very rowdy and already the worse the wear for alcohol. We decided not to eat in the hotel as it was too rowdy and went to the pub across the road, which was very nice with good food. On returning to the hotel it was now even rowdier, we had to push our way through the wedding guests who were blocking the hotel entrance and reception area. We would have had a drink in the bar, but we couldn't get near it because the wedding party had taken it over, despite having their own private function room and bar. So we went back to our rooms and were kept awake most of the night with drunk guests talking loudly in the corridors and children running up and down until about 3-4am.
The staff were apologetic on check out and said they found the wedding party just as much as a pain as the rest of the hotel guests did. In fact the police had to be called at the end of the night, as things got out of hand and the large crowd of people were just uncontrollable.
Having been a user of the Holiday Inn chain over many years and stayed in lots of their hotels around the country, I'm sad to say that wedding parties taking over the hotel seems to be an increasing trend, with this happening a few times over the last year when I've stayed at these hotels around the country.
Whilst I can see Holiday Inn are keen on the extra revenue it may provide, it should not be at the expense of ordinary hotel guests.
Holiday Inn need to decide whether they want to be a party venue, or first and foremost a hotel looking after the needs of its normal guests.
