My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Holiday Inn Darling Harbour. The hotel was nice and clean, the staff were friendly and very helpful when we had questions. The location was perfect for getting to see the sites here in Sydney. We had a great time and would recommend this hotel to any of our friends who visit Sydney in the future.

I would recommend this hotel. Have stayed here quite a few times and it is in a great location. Walking distance to Central and downtown.
Staff were friendly and accomodating.

The hotel had a good location, accessible and near Market city and Chinatown with lots of restos / cafes to choose from. Rooms were big enough to fit 4 people with luggages quite well. Bathroom was big, adequate water pressure and heating.
However, I was not impressed with the staff. Even at check in the front desk did not seem welcoming or friendly. I've had much better experience with other IHG hotels where they made you feel special as an IHG Rewards member.
We stayed for 9 days, and none of the staff (housekeeping, room service, front desk etc) made an impression even when we asked them to book us a cab, or when we had problems with the room or requested for towels etc. They did what we asked, but it didn't feel sincere nor was it always delivered i a timely fashion. For example when we asked for towels the first night (they only gave us 2 when we were 4 in the room), it still hadn't arrived after 2 hours and only did when we called again. There was also an instance where the person who answered our call was rude when we were requesting for something.
Cleanliness was also questionable. With used glasses not being replaced / cleaned and empty plates left outside of the room not put away.
Overall, I might consider staying again but I'd definitely be on the lookout for other properties before going back.

Good or even great location close to all the benefits of the Harbour area right on the edge of Chinatown. Booked two rooms but got pts only for one room ... something they call non-qualifying overlapping stay. Strike 1.
Then on final night stopped by front desk to ask mgr if he had a restaurant recommendation. Stood right at the desk while the mgr (Brooke Bell) tapped away on his computer and ignored me. Stood there 5 minutes and he got up and went to counter made a phone call and returned to his pc. Still didn't acknowledge I even existed though I was literally standing less than 3 ft away and staring at him. After some more tapping he got up and disappeared around the corner. Guess I should have been obnoxious and demanded attention. But if that's what it takes then I don't need to return here. Strike 2!
Also breakfast was abysmal and expensive. Strike 3! Not really interested in retaining my current Platinum status as it's literally meaningless. Will max out my status at another major chain instead.

I was disappointed at the lack of valet service to park the car and lack of a porter service to deliver luggage. When our room card did not work and we asked the Manager to validate the card we were told to join the end of a very long queue of people checking in.
In fairness, the staff in Shipley's restaurant were very helpful and the food was good.

This is our preferred hotel when visiting Sydney. The location is perfect for us. All pros except just one con - the main restaurant no longer opens for dinner. It is not acceptable for a hotel of this standard that one has to choose to dine in the hotel bar or go out for dinner.
