Good location and easy to get to the main shopping centres and food outlets around the Sydney Harbour area.
Close to market that sells souvenirs and gifts at reasonable prices
However, since chinatown is near room at the lower floors tend to be noisy and if the room is facing some shop outlets that open until late at night, be prepared to have a restless night.
If you want to lounge by the pool and have some peace and quite, this is probably not the hotel for you.

A home away from home - that's what the Hotel is! I stayed there for 5 nights and the Hotel took good care of me. I was impressed at how efficiently-run it was. My room was comfortable and overlooked the front part of the Hotel. The Hotel's location is just superb, close to shopping, restaurants, public transport and of course, the beautiful Harbour.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by dktahara Nice room but fairly uninspired
It's a Holiday Inn. Not more; not less. I will say the breakfast service at Shipley's was really really expensive -- it's amazing that they can charge that much when there are a million restaurants and things around the corner.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by J. Lee A Good & Centralised Hotel
Holiday Inn Darling Harbour is a centralised hotel, located near to amenities and attractions. It is within walking distance to Paddy's Market, Chinatown, great restaurants and the ever-popular Darling Harbour. We did a lot of walking and saved a lot on transportation.
We booked a family room for 9 nights as there is so much to do in Sydney. The family room with 2 Queen-size beds can easily accommodate our family of 4 and is bright, cheery and clean.
Holiday Inn Darling Harbour prides itself as an environmentally-friendly hotel where good practices are diligently put in place. We were subtly and gently reminded to re-use our bath towel and request to change the bed sheets only when necessary. Recycled materials and biodegradable bottles are used.
Special mention must be made to the front-counter staff, Yasmeen and the 3 gentlemen at the Concierge, who were very friendly and helpful. They answered our numerous questions patiently regarding directions, transportation, wifi services and even recommended the best pizza restaurant to us.
We would highly recommend Holiday Inn Darling Harbour to any one who wants a centralised and good hotel. It has definitely lived up to its brand name and high expectations and we had a pleasant stay there.

The staff at this hotel really made my stay great. Breakfast staff, Jenny and Lisa always ready with a smile. Panko at the front desk is always helpful, friendly and effective.
Looking forward to my next stay in January.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by engonaplane Good location
Just opposite Paddy's Market, Chinatown, Market City, Qantas Centre. Also near to the light rail stop, and within walkable near bus distance to Central and Town Hall rail stations. Also bus stops at George Street allow easier travel including 555 free CBD bus.
Only minor con is the internet (free for reward club members) is activated in 24h blocks. There is no option to renew ahead of time, so one will have to wait for it to disconnect, disrupting all existing work and activities, then request a new 24h activation.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jaffa1 The parking is nowhere near the hotel and took an hour to sort out both times
The parking for this hotel is nowhere near the hotel and took fully 1 hour to sort out in peak hour traffic very stressful being country folk. My husband took a wrong turn on the way back and ended up on the harbour tunnel. The website should clearly state that the parking is not at the hotel.
The checkin was slow with our booking lost.
The seafood buffet that they rave about on the internet does not exist.
There was only one person in the whole hotel that took the time to acknowledge us and make our stay enjoyable he was in the breakfast room.
