Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DiJW Perfect for our girls weekend
What a shock when we found an affordable place to stay at the rocks for our girls weekend. Easy walk to the bridge climb. Easy walk to circular quay. Rocks markets right outside the hotel. We felt safe walking around at night. There were 4 of us so we requested 2 rooms with double beds. There was plenty of room for us to unpack & big mirrors for hair & makeup. Our room even had a bridge view. The hotel is old but has had a fresh coat of paint , our aircon was a bit noisy but we were too tired to care at the end of each day. Thanks for a lovely place to stay, would definitely recommend to others

We stayed recently as my son's wedding was at Dawes Point and Wolfies restaurant nearby. The hotel service was fantastic. They were very helpful with valet parking, taking cars in and out with white ribbons attached. Our room had a view of the harbour and was quiet and comfortable. Eight of our family and friends also stayed and we had a delicious breakfast together. Loved the juicer for fresh fruit and the breakfast chef. We all felt the hotel's location and value for money was excellent.

We only stayed one night due to cruising out of Sydney the following day, but we are both so glad we chose your hotel to stay in. The service was excellent, the room was ready and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Checkout was a breeze and that is everything we ask for. I couldn't recommend this hotel high enough for location, staff, service and costs. Thank you Holiday Inn, Old Sydney.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by rafunnell Good place to stay
The Holiday Inn Old Sydney was a very nice place to stay with clean rooms, nice decor and friendly staff. The staff was very helpful with my son who was having difficulties downloading and returning forms for a job he was starting when returning home.
The only downside was a very loud bar across the road kept us awake at night, but overall, I would recommend.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MandaMoo Excellent location, fabulous rooftop view, comfortable bed, great service
The 360 degree view of the city and the harbour from the rooftop is breathtaking. The location is excellent. Everything within walking distance. Our room was very clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. You even get choices of soft or hard pillows. We also had robes and slippers. We were in the King Harbour View room with a great view over the rocks to the Opera House. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely stay here again! I can't wait to bring the kids.

Being a platinum ambassador, I stay IHG where-ever possible. No more in Australia. Intercont are getting crazy expensive on my business budget and Holiday Inn consistently don't live up to the benefit charter. Both stays at holiday inn rocks Sydney have been disappointing. Rooms are getting v tired and not up to current holiday inn standard. Forget late 4pm check out - its like pulling teeth to get one. Officious duty manager flat refused after her counter staff saw a way for a 3pm check out compromise she promptly shut him down " absolutely not, we're full best I can do is 1pm - next time we can - promise" . Tall promise in my experience. And as for next time - there will not be a next time. I spend a great deal of time travelling international for my job and have never been treated so poorly by a holiday inn. You should take a leaf out of Hol Inn rosebank and Sandton in Joannesburg. They are loyalty customer focused. As a business traveller I usually travel at night after my daily work is done. Late check out (along with Internet included) is a major factor in choosing my hotels. Next time I am treated so off handedly I might just change my loyalty to another chain.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dmperth dissapointing
Hotel fit out was outdated especially bathrooms. Service was abrupt, seemed used to dealing with annoyed customers. I booked a standard room, and with my IHG platinum membership I supposed to get an upgrade. Breakfast was not included with the room or upgrade which was disappointing. Other guests had issues and were in drawn out arguments at reception. Overall, this hotel is over priced. Yes the location is good, but at least re-invest some of the money taken from high room rates into renovating the bathrooms to bring them up the modern standard. Also, reception staff should take more care in explaining the services included in your rate. It is annoying when you assume breakfast is included in your rate only to find out it isn't.

As always an amazing stay at the holiday inn old sydney. we stayed here before our cruise as it is so close to cruise terminal but we have stayed here before as we love the rocks area as it is full of old history and has many quirky little cobblestone lane ways great for exploring! The position, service and cleanliness and atomosphere of the hotel was fantastic and made our pre cruise experience so beautiful. Be back for sure as the hotel and the rocks and circular quay is one of our favourite places in australia! thanks again holiday inn..

Had yet another great stay. We keep saying we muist change locations each time we visit Sydney - but why, as the O S H I is perfectly located, with friendy and helpfull staff. This trip Amy showed how much she cared about the guests by going the extra mile, also Hugh and Sean, along with all the team. We will be back next time in Sydney.

Holiday Inn provides convenient location if one needs to use ferries and be at the Harbour end of the City. While the hotel is sometimes needing maintenae, the facilites are kept in good condition and servicing is excellent. Staff are efficient a friendly. For priority members offers great value for money.

My wife & I stayed at this property in mid- March for 2 nights prior to joining our cruise ship "across the road". Warm, friendly welcome from Ryan on Front Desk appreciated after long haul flight from the UK. Pleasant airy room with partial sea views to front. Great 360 degree views from rooftop pool. Good value ( by Oz prices) breakfast buffet with wide selection of offerings. Excellent hotel location in Rocks District with plenty of eating/drinking options within a minutes walk. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marg59 Excellent location
Having always stayed in the CBD, I thought I'd give The Rocks a try, and this hotel seemed very reasonably priced for the location. I wasn't disappointed - top marks for value and location. The room with 2 beds was an adequate size and even from the 4th floor there were limited water views. The bathroom was a little tired, but when in Sydney, particularly in the best part of Sydney, a dated bathroom is the last thing you think about! I will definitely stay at this hotel again when next in Sydney.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marjo Brilliant views of the harbour
My brief for our latest stay in Sydney was a harbour view from our room. There were some very expensive options but the Old Sydney Holiday Inn seemed to tick all the boxes for a reasonable price. The location is brilliant being an easy walk from Circular Quay and the front of house staff very helpful. The internal atrium with its yellow painted brickwork is very dated but the room interior was comfortable. We were in the top floor corner room - I had paid a premium price to get a harbour view room and we weren't disappointed with a view across to the Opera House and beyond. The view from the pool - 360 degree view including the bridge, CBD, Circular Quay and the Opera House was stunning.

Top Motel, Location, and this time around we had room 409, we could open the windows, fresh air and a exceptional view of the cruise ships, Sydney and the harbour towards the heads, full brekky each day, that's our second stay in 4 months and we will be back soon, the best part is the view, day and night from the roof top pool.

I loved this hotel and it's location as it's 5 minutes walk to the opera house, museum, ferries, circular quay, buses etc.... The staff was quite friendly and helpful as I also booked a tour with them too. I would stay here again as you can't beat their location. It looks a little dated but they have the same services as any 5 Star hotel it just doesn't look fancy. Many thanks to Hugh, Charlotte and the rest of the staff for making me feel welcome there.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Brandon701 A reasonable stay
Overall, a good experience. I tried the breakfast buffet for the first time in my several stays here. Liked it! $27 may seem expensive but that is a bargain price in Sydney. The food was of good quality with a great espresso machine, juicing machine, and plentiful variety of food.
Only problem I encountered was at check in. I arrived way early as my flight landed at 6:30 am in Sydney. Hoping to get an early check in I asked at the desk. It was not to be as I waited on the room I usually stay in here. I had plenty to do before the published 2:00 pm check in time. Little did I know the staff gave a late checkout to the room I was waiting on! Thank goodness for a very courteous and professional front dest person there named Shawn. I was not happy about waiting until 3:30 to be able to check in to my room. Shawn made my almost 2 hour wait in the lobby pleasant and comfortable. He actually seemed to care while the blond gal workingl the front desk was indifferent, at best. Interesting what a positive impression one caring hotel employee can make on poor situation (thanks Shawn).
The hotel itself seems to be holding its own. Not getting rundown and my room was fairly clean (except hair in bathtub and dirty window smudges.) The best thing about this hotel is the location and convenience. I'll now rate the breakfast as big positive, too.
Pool on the roof is small and nice with a great view. Be aware there are no umbrellas up there and not one piece of shade to be had anywhere at all during the day.
Yes, I'll stay here again although I will not hope for an early check in. This hotel is becoming more and more popular due to it's location in the rocks. I can see why as it gets you away from that "downtown" environment and has a pleasant feel to it.

This comfortable, old hotel offers an unbeatable convenience of location. The room was showing its age, with its 1960s-style furnishings and minute bathroom, but there was plenty of room to swing a cat in the rest. Clean and serviceable, if not fancy. We found it quite adequate.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Graham47 Perfect Position for all of Sydney's attractions
We found the hotel perfect, the staff were excellant, particularly the bar and restaurant staff. The hotel position was just perfect, we hopped on the red bus for the city tour, we got picked up easily for a tour to the Blue Mountains, circular quay was on our doorstep as was the Opera house and the bridge which we climbed. We then joined a cruise ship right outside the door. it is a brilliant location and an excellant standard that I have and will continue to reccomend to anyone visiting Sydney, the friendly city ,that we enjoyed every minute of the time we spent there.

This hotel is often out of my price range but I always stay here when the rate is good. Excellent location, friendly staff and a good breakfast, especially if included in the rate.
Some of the rooms at the front can suffer street noise at the weekend especially but that's all part of the location.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Impius1980 Great stay ruined at the end
The hotel is obviously fantastically located, the rooms are really comfortable, the rooftop pool is amazing and we had a fantastic stay there until it came to check out time.
As we handed our keys back we were presented with a bill for 3 bottles of water which was unexpected. Two nights previously we had come back from a night out and asked the guy on Reception is there was anywhere to get water and he advised us that everywhere was closed. He then said 'I'll get you some - how many do you need?'. It was only me that wanted it but since the question had been asked in a manner which fully implied it was for no charge, both of my room mates took a bottle too. At no point was a cost mentioned as we wouldn't have taken them if there was. It just seemed like he was being nice.
The worst part of this was the lady on Reception who gave us the bill. I questioned it, recounting the story above and how at no point had a requirement for payment of the water been mentioned when it was given to us. In a very condescending tone she said, in front of other guests either checking in or out 'It's a pretty well-known fact that room service is charged back to you at the end of your stay'. I advised her that I am well versed in staying hotels and I understand the procedure when I have agreed to purchase something rather than being offered it, seemingly for free. She then went on to make a further three or four patronising comments before agreeing to 'Let us off this once'.
Being made to feel stupid by a staff member in front of other guests, when we felt we were in the right given the actions of what was seemingly a nice gentleman two nights previously, was completely unnecessary and ruined what had been a fantastic stay.
