we arrived early morning for a conference. hotel was easy to find in the rocks, very close to circular quay train station. however, the "shower" that they provided to freshen up in the pool area had a nonworking tap, and would give freezing cold or boiling hot water. there was no place available to freshen up prior to suiting up for the conference after a 17 hour flight. wifi in the room was terribly slow, and in the lobby was so-so, i had to enable my US 4g plan and pay 60$ to access data to make a sype call home as wifi was too slow. room was constantly too warm, very hard to adjust the thermostat. only pros was the excellent central location- everything is walking distance. the other pro was the cheapest deal for coffee (4$) and omelette (executive breakfast 7$) is room service. everything else nearby in the rocks is 8-12$ coffee, and 20$ breakfast. anyways, if you want to stay in the rocks (which i recommend), this hotel is OK but dont expect magic for the price. you are purely paying for the location

I love staying at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney but if there is one thing that infuriates me about the hotel, it is the room's Air Conditioning.

Staff friendly and very helpful. Loved the location and views from rooftop were superb!
Breakfast was very good.
Overall a great experience and would recommend it for a great location near the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. Many good restaurants within walking distance and can walk to many of the Sydney sights, including the Quay, the Opera House and the Royal Botanical Garden.
A suggestion would be better lighting for bathroom mirror and for reading in the room. Also, our first room needed better pillows, but our second room when we returned had great pillows.
We would definitely return again!
