Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Location Within 5 minutes walk to Eaton Shopping Center and City Center. August 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Close to downtown but old hotel Really close to downtown where I can squeeze some time for visiting and going around. But too close to other buildings without scene. No restaurant in the hotel for dinner and no variety of food for breakfast. The guest room shoud be renovated. Gym room and pool are too small. August 26, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Loud city night in Toronto Great Location. Great staff services. Our room 715 was facing the busy street ...... Sirens kept up awake all night. The room was clean but small. Bar fridge a bonus. The beds need to be replaced we could not sleep due to their poor quality, maybe quality is the wrong word both beds dipped. Other then the beds and windows letting noise in our stay was ok August 25, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointing service and bad internet At arrival, they couldn't find my reservation and sent me to wait in the lobby for 10-15 minutes until they figured it out. My 3 nights stay included a nightly 20 dollars voucher at the restaurant and they tried to say it was only for 1 night. The reservation clearly indicated "nightly". Had issues with my parking as well. I prepaid parking on the room and once I tried to leave the garage, it indicated my ticket wasn't valid and I had to pay. Had to repark, go back upstairs, explain what happened. Pretty annoying. Internet was horrible in the rooms. Very disappointing for a downtown Toronto hotel in 2015 where wifi works good pretty much anywhere. Couldn't do any work (emails, watch a video) Good location, everything available around the hotel. Rooms were nice and clean. Bathrooms were updated. Restaurant food was pretty good with decent prices. August 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cleanliness issues When we arrived at our room (229), we discovered a huge spiderweb in the corner of the table. We asked the front desk twice to have housekeeping clean it. Although we were assured twice and our room was cleaned, the web was never removed. The pool water was also cloudy so, needless to say, we did not swim. August 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Close to everything, would stay again I like this location as its close to everything you need...Eaton Center, subway, lots of food options to eat. My only thing I didn't like was having to pay $28 for parking. I think this is excessive!!! August 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Disappointing Stay We usually stay at the Holiday Inn on Bloor at Avenue road, but as my family from England were staying at this location we did too. The hotel is in a convenient area where you can walk to many sights which we did find useful, however the ambience/service was horrible. I should mentioned that I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years; 14 at a hotel by the Toronto Airport; 7 years at an Event Logistics Manager and now at a winery in the Niagara region. We rang the hotel the day before our arrival to see if we could have an early check in which we were told we could and I presume a note was placed on our reservations. One room was ready but the other two were not. Fair enough the hotel seemed to be at a 100 percent occupancy so not all rooms can be ready by 2 pm. Our room was very small. More like a New York hotel not one in Toronto. The view was great but the windows were filthy. The room looked like it needed the carpets steamed cleaned as they were stained, the wall covering was ripped and there was a chunk of wood missing from the closet. The bathroom was well designed for a small space and was very clean. Housekeeping did a great job during our stay. When we arrived we decided to have lunch and went into the hotel restaurant. After being seated the drilling and banging started .... construction I presumed and we quickly left and never return during the four nights we stayed at your hotel. Not sure why renovations were taking placed during a time when the city is busy, unless it was an emergency repair but if didn't look like it was. Too bad because we spent a lot of money on meals during our stay in Toronto. Also the Internet was probably the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel. Perhaps it was because you had a full house but if that was the case you need to report this to your head office and have it rectified. If I was a business person staying at your hotel, it would have been impossible to conduct business. A week prior to our arrival, we called to inquire about getting a limo. It was confirmed and arrived to pick us up at the hotel on Thursday evening. Once we were in the limo (by the way the driver didn't even get out of the car to greet us or open the door) we were so shocked and disgusted to see that all the glassware was dirty (we had bought an expensive bottle of sparkling to celebrate) and there was a half drunk bottle of pop wedged between the seats. When we complained about the glassware, the limo driver asked why did we need the glasses ... Are you kidding me! He drove around the block and stopped off at Loblaws to get us some paper cups. At this point we decided we were not going to take the limo to our destination and walked back to the hotel. Alex was the Concierge on duty and we complained to him .... He got us two taxis and we left the hotel. I was expecting Alex to speak to us the following morning to say how sorry he was, etc, but not a word, actually I think he was ignoring us. Also when he went for his break sometime during our four day stay, there was a tacky piece of paper placed on his desk saying he would be back shortly. A professional typed signed would have looked much nicer. And I believe you have a resident bum who sleeps on the stairs by the parking entrance to Loblaws and when Alex walked by him on his cigarette break I would have though it would have gone back to the hotel to report it to security, but no just ignored the situation. During our stay I could see some of your hotel staff standing around the lobby making sure everything was ok, but I have to say they looked very unwelcoming and their business attire had a lot to be desired. I noticed your sign about being a 10 (sorry I don't remember the exact wording) but every time I walked by that sign I kept thinking you had a long way to go before being a 10. The Golden Griddle, Coras and pub across the street provided better service then the hotel. Actually the Starbucks staff members are very friendly and efficient. During our stay I was going to use the spa, but after my friend had an appointment for a manicure and when she got there the staff member said oh I am not very good at doing a shellac manicure, I am glad I didn't. Also your lobby furniture needs to be cleaned. One couch which is placed under a ceiling air conditioning unit, is in terrible shape. I did however find that the bellman was very helpful and I did speak to him about the awful limo service and asked for the company name. Anyway I expect there are a few items that I have missed but I look forward to staying at my usual Holiday Inn again when my travels bring me back to Toronto. August 20, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient location The hotel is very conveniently located, very clean and the staff are very friendly. We did experience a couple things that I felt are important to write about. First, when we checked into our room, the bill for the previous guest was on the floor. The bill has his name and address on it, which from a privacy standpoint is absolutely awful. It does have ‘no show’ written on the bill so if he didn’t come to the hotel, why would this be put under the door? The second problem came on the second night of our stay when we were given 2 small handtowels. There were 4 of us staying here and when we came back at 11pm and found out there weren’t any towels, this is a problem. We called down to the front desk and were told some would be sent up. We gave up after an hour and went to bed. In the morning my husband asked a housekeeper in the hallway for towels and explained what happened, but she wouldn’t give them to him. He then went down to the front desk and was finally given towels. August 17, 2015
