If you need reliable wifi, then avoid room 2218 where it barely works at all. After complaining to the front desk on the evening of my arrival, and talking to technical support twice by telephone early the next morning, the problem was still not resolved by late afternoon. When I asked if perhaps the problem was with the location of the room with regard to the router, the technical support person said no, that people with computers roamed the hotel testing for dead spots and router placement and that the reception was the same in all rooms. After my experience, then, it must be universally bad throughout the hotel, which I later discovered was not true after my room was changed. Although the technical support person said she would call me back with a status report, much like my own cable provider, she never did. I complained to the front desk again, saying that this was not an inexpensive hotel and that if they didn't have working wifi, then I would have to find another place to stay. I had booked for 6 nights. I agreed to go along with the desk clerk's suggestion to try the wifi in another room. The bellman accompanied me to the first alternative room on the list where my computer performed perfectly. So location does matter after all.
Because I had already settled into the first room, it was with a great deal of inconvenience that I had to pack up my things for the move to the new room only to find the next day that there was an issue with the telephone. A maintenance man was quickly dispatched to the room and he was able to get the phone working properly again. I did learn that the hotel has had ongoing issues with its telecommunications systems. NOTE TO HOTEL: Fix them; look for new providers, if necessary.
On a positive note, the hotel's location, on subway and streetcar lines, and within walking distance of nearly everything downtown, is ideal. A giant Loblaw's supermarket, with an impressive array of restaurant-quality prepared foods options, in addition to groceries, is just steps away. From other reviewers' comments on the size of their rooms, it's apparent that they've never stayed in a hotel in New York City where the rooms are infinitely smaller than in this hotel and infinitely more expensive. The only issue I had was with the layout of the bathroom. Because of its size, the sink is angled and the mirrors above it angled at 45 degrees, which makes shaving or applying makeup challenging. Housekeeping did a fairly efficient job of keeping the room clean and well stocked with fresh towels and toiletries. I felt, though, that housekeeping had fallen down in not servicing the coffeemaker by checking for used coffee pods in the machine and in not reporting to maintenance a decorative curtain panel that had apparently fallen down and was bunched up on the credenza behind the television set. I would not expect this detail to be overlooked in a hotel of this class. The room was also equipped with a small refrigerator and safe.
Staff is truly one of this hotel's greatest assets and I would like to especially recognize front desk person Nellie and bellman Jordan who provided outstanding service throughout my stay. I would like to give this hotel 5 stars, but the telecommunications issues, if not timely resolved, would, unfortunately, prevent me from staying here again or recommending it to anyone.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JJodie Clean Room, Helpful Staff, Awesome Food
My visit was for a medical procedure at a Local Hospital. The friendliness of the staff, cleanliness and comfort of room, and the awesome buffet breakfast and ease of room service helped make the stay comfortable.
The only concern I had was that the windows - outside were clean, but the inside windows had not been cleaned. The window that opened, obviously, has not been cleaned in years - as it is nearly black.
When ordering Room Service, I found that the menu inside the binder had not been changed recently, as it contained "Santa Shakes". Upon ordering a meal and discussing with the Room Service Staff, they did provide me with the item I was looking for - a simple BLT. I advised the Front Desk on checkout about this and she was going to pass onto her manager.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lowry22 Rude front desk agents
Front desk gave my guest a hard time and wouldn't even allow him to check in although his name was attached to the reservation. The night audit agent is always the most understanding and gives the best service.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ginette78 Hotel très accueillant et confortable

the room's not very spacious. Very crammed in. No place to put my luggage / stuff. Not much room to move around in. Very compact. A little clastrophobic. The beds were comfy. It's an ok room if you're staying just over night.

Aside from the extremely tiny rooms - no suites available nor couches. Also the parking for cars only - not SUV's made for a challenging experience

My stay at this property was very comfortable, the staff were very helpful. My only other comment is that the building is looking a little tired however updated in most areas. The front entrance is not easy to see from the street as it is somewhat recessed Big urns of inviting flowers etc. would have helped
