Dissapointed10 Renovations
The renovations can't happen fast enough. During my last stay, the alarm clock was filthy... it had some brown gunk caked to the back of it... rather disturbing. My corporate "loyalty" discount was eliminated without notice so now I'm paying more money for an outdated hotel. I've never stayed anywhere else in TC over the past 12 years, so "loyalty" appears to be a thing of the past. Very disappointing to say the least!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Rassillon Older hotel best suited for summer vacationers
Not a good choice for the business traveller in the off season.
Internet with only a handful of guests staying was at best adequate.
Old hotel that is due for an update. I would recommend checking their website and finding out if the projected facelift is complete before booking.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by jolo Terrible 2 weeks
I had a really bad experience . I was in this hotel for 2 weeks. The internet service was terrible. It kept cutting off and on for the entire 2 weeks, making you have to resign in to get back online. I had to replace the desk chair twice so a total of 3 different chairs. They need new desk chairs. They messed up one of my wake up calls. I asked for a 12:30 AM call and got a 12:30PM call. Luckily I had my cell phone as backup. I went to dry my clothes on the highest setting and my clothes were still wet after 45 minutes. I placed the clothes back in the dryer on the same setting for 45 more minutes and the clothes were so hot...I couldn't even touch them. I will be looking for s different hotel for my December trip.

We have been wanting to stay at the Holiday Inn West Bay for a long time. After looking into it we finally went there. We found a few wonderful supprises. Following a path along the bay, we discovered that there was a tunnel under the road along the river to get downtown without crossing the busy streets... giving guests easy access to downtown Traverse City. The sports bar in the Holiday Inn, Wingers is a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful view of east Traverse bay. Staff is wonderful and helpful, with information about the area.

Good location, nice view of the bay from every room, quite and comfortable.. Dining options are fair, prices are reasonable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Traverse City.

This will hopefully be the last time we stay at this facility. We like it's location, but we don't feel it's worth the price anymore. The whole facility needs a good cleaning - common area carpets are dirty, metal fixtures everywhere are rusty, the dresser/tv stand in our room had a cardboard shim under one side & a drawer that was broken & hanging offtrack. The outdated HVAC system in the rooms leaves everything stagnant & uncomfortable.
And I've always wondered: with the cost of the rooms being what it is, year-round, why is there no complimentary continental breakfast? Every other Holiday Inn we've stayed in offers it.
Oh - the other main reason we won't stay here again? The "lounge" is apparently an extremely popular, loud place. I prefer to stay somewhere that feels safe & is a hotel first & foremost. This feels more like a bar with rooms to rent. Yuck!
In a city with a wealth of hotels, having one so behind the times in cleanliness, decor, etc. is very poor management.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by leisuretraveller Staff is great but bed comfort is awful
If you like sleeping on a rock and love a noisy room, book this hotel immediately. If you need a comfortable room that is quiet, make your plans for elsewhere. The staff is great, but cannot overcome the basics of what a hotel is there for....a good night's sleep.

We stayed Friday and Saturday. There were weddings on both days. The band was very loud both nights. On Saturday the band started around 6:30 PM and did not stop until after 10:30 PM. After a day of exploring the Traverse City area we planned a relaxing evening back in the room. That did not happen.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Expectations - Bit of a disappointment
After a long search of hotels in Traverse City for this fall, we decided on the Holiday Inn based on it's location and the intent to have a water view of Traverse Bay. At a "waterview" super deluxe rate competitive to the other local "waterview" hotels, we had the expectations of a clean room and a great view of the bay. - "Not!" Our room and the entire facility appeared to be worn out and not very well kept, almost to the point of being dirty. There are few rooms at the hotel that actual face a full window view of the bay. The building structure and rooms are prependicular to the water, and the views from the room windows are barely a six (6) ft. sliver of water between buildings.
As a Priority Club member, I did voice this disappointment to the front desk and asked to be moved to other room, but the response was more of an attitude of "if you don't like it", we can't do much for you - too bad!
I guess, we quickly got over the disappointment because everyone else there was in the same boat and we were on vacation to be outside and touring the fall colors.
Just won't go back there again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by TC2012 Bad experience and loud nightclub
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hotel. This hotel contains a nightclub that went until 2am. The walls are so thin and have no acoustic rating to allow for sleep and fun simultaneously. We could also hear our neighbors well into the night. The management was laissez faire about addressing the issue and had the audacity to tell us the nightclub would be going away with future renovations. Until such time, they should have warned people of the possibility of a restless sleeping experience and give a discount on the rooms adjacent to the nightclub.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone in the future. I gave this place a chance, but would never come back.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Pat63 Just OK
Stayed here because I am a Priority Platinum member. The room was just OK nothing special-something they would give to anyone. I expected to be on the Executive level but guess since I was using my Reward points I didn't qualifiy. The walls are paper thin so we heard everything in the hall, everything next door and everything above and below us. The bathroom was extremely small and room for only 1 person and with 3 girls in a room there was a lot of waiting around. The service in the restuarant was really slow but when the food arrived it was good. Our waitress was pleasant and she did apologize for the wait since they appeared to be shorthanded and she had all the tables! Not sure I would go back there-think I will just pay to stay somewhere else!!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RLloyd Nice Hotel but pricey with nothing included
As a hotel goes it was decent enough. Seemed pretty clean. Nice view. Would have been nice for the price we paid to have breakfast inlcuded. Had a hugely over priced drink in the bar with slow service so would skip that if I had to do over. Just seemed like this hotel nickel and dimed you. I even had to pay extra for a mini fridge. Next time I will shop around a little more before reserving.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by RG09 Hotel Location and Quality
The hotel is located in a great location in the city. The main floor and lobby are consistent with the Holiday Inns I stay at, but the rest of the hotel needs some modernization. The floors and rooms could use some renovation.
