This hotel was awesome, the food deals for kids was amazing. a family of 5 had dinner for $12.50, since kids under 12 ate free.

Very nice hotel, with a great location. We ate at a very good Mexican food restaurant with in walking distance from the hotel. Hotel staff was friendly. Room was clean. We would stay there again!!! I was not recognized for being a rewards club member but other than that , our stay was greatttttt!!!

Hotel was nice, service was good but not great. Did not feel adequately recognized as IHG Rewards Club Member. Room was nice but not super for being a king executive. I have stayed at a lot nicer Holiday Inn hotels than this one. It is in a great location but it could do better on servicing guests and the restaurant food could definitely be better.

Room clean and nice, not much interaction with staff, not real helpful. One person at the desk who was very busy answering the phone and a line of people checking in. Prefer the Holiday Inn in Ratan because of the efficiency and friendliness of their staff. They also have breakfast and snacks available during the evening for us weary travelers. We have a vacation home in Colorado and come through at least 3 times a year over the past couple of years. We wanted to try Trinidad Holiday INN and we did.
Also, there was no recognition of being Priority Club Member, Gold Status.

Our recent stay was not planned. We were traveling from Az to Denver on a motorcycle. After a long day filled with high winds and plenty of flying dirt, we decided to stop. Luckily they had an opening. After a quick check in, we found our room clean and pleasant. There is a resturant downstairs. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner and breakfast while looking out at the mountains. Staff we pleasant and attentive. The only con to this and most hotels are the choice of pillows. While they are marked soft and hard, they are also fat. If you prefer a low profile to keep your neck and spine in alignment, bring your own. This is a reference to all hotels, not just this one.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jani56 Pet Friendly Hotel
This Holiday Inn is a good stopping place for our trips from Texas to Wyoming. The hotel is pet friendly and leashed, well-behaved pets are welcome. One downside is that there is NO area outside designed for dogs to "do their business". Even a small grassy area would be helpful, but the dogs finally do get the idea that they must use the rocks. I doubt if I would stay here when not travelling with the dog, however, because I prefer a property with feather pillows, real coffee cups & glasses, and the little things that Hilton or Marriott properties provide. The restaurant/bar is a plus, though, that you won't get at a Hampton or Fairfield, which is what this property compares to.

Fabulous that the restaurant is right in the hotel. 60% of the reason we chose you. Very surprised breakfast wasn't included..add $5 to bill and include breakfast. Another HUGE deal is to start Breakfast at 5:30..people like to be on the road by 6:00.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ddomi11 NOT A PET FRIENDLY HOTEL
The staff were very polite and professional. The hotel does allow dogs, but charges you a fee per night for staying there which is absurd. The only greenspace the hotel has for your dog to go to the bathroom is in between the gas station next door and the hotel. It wouldn't be bad if the space wasn't littered with trash and broken bottles with little to no "grass" at all. The space was muddy and full of weeds instead. This Holiday Inn is definitely not a pet friendly hotel and I highly do not recommend anyone stay here if you have a care in the world about your dog.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JM33314 Spa area under Construction
We love this Holiday Inn and have stayed here many times. The view of the Mountains is breathtaking! We will always go back! Clean, friendly service, great rooms, good food and bar area. The only thing lacking on this trip was that the Spa was under construction! Since we were not able to take full use of the amenities of the hotel, you would think an adjustment in the price of the room would have been in order, or a gift certificate to the bar or restaurant. This was not the case....which we thought was a poor management decision.
However, we will still return.

We arrived in Trinidad along with a large snow storm! The staff was kind and helpful and very compassionate about our nerves from driving over The Pass in the storm. The next morning the desk clerk was gracious enough to assist us in getting our car unstuck from the ice in the parking lot!!!

Trinidad, Colorado is a small historic mining town nestled in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountains, at the base of Raton Pass. Trinidad has been a resting place on the Santa Fe Trail since the 1850’s.
LOCATION: The Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites is conveniently located just off Interstate 25 at Exit 11. At this exit, you’ll find a Wendy’s fast food restaurant and Wal-mart. That’s about it.
SAFETY: This isn’t the ‘hood. Property was well-lit in the front, a bit dark in the rear. Try to park on the front side if possible. Inside, you’ll find a typical Holiday Inn, with key card access to rooms.
STAFF: This is where this property shines. Everyone you come in contact with, from the front desk to the restaurant, is friendly, attentive and professional.
PROPERTY: Fresh, clean and safe. General areas are well-kept and inviting. Not sure when it was built but it appears relatively new, as of this review.
ROOMS: Also fresh, clean and safe. Although well-appointed and inviting, they are less than perfectly quiet. Sound insulation is lacking. You can easily hear conversations in adjoining rooms, along with sniffles, belches, etc. Beds are reasonably comfortable, but not great. The soft and hard pillow collection is appreciated. Temperature control was a pain. Apparently the room heats past the set the temp because we experienced both the heat and the a/c throughout the night. Perhaps this isn’t how the system is designed to operate.
RESTAURANT: feels more like a lounge than a restaurant. It was Friday night and the bar was full of revelers. Typical, but reasonably behaved. Restaurant seating is mostly tables, along with three booths along one wall. Food was above average served by wonderfully attentive employees. On this dinner visit, there were two large groups with swarms of out-of-control children running and jumping throughout the restaurant. Parents were too busy drinking to care. Our server was wonderful and apologetic. At least I think she apologized. We couldn’t hear each other. The restaurant was a welcome amenity, but it was simply way too loud with out of control guests on a Friday night. Staff agreed with us but felt helpless. They mentioned that they tried to increase the volume of the music to drown out the kids, to no avail.
OVERALL: Staff are universally wonderful and should be commended for their attention to the details. Hotel leadership should be well-pleased with their excellent team of ambassadors. If we were to return to this property (Colorado natives), it would be because of the staff. Having said that, we’re on the fence about returning.
Room Tip: Try for a room on the backside to avoid noise from Interstate traffic.

First of all let me say that I have been at the Platinum level for a few years now and Holiday Inn has been my hotel of choice for several years now. The hotel was very clean and appeared to be new, but there was a few things missing that I would expect. There was no microwave in the room which is rather odd, and when I called to the front desk they said they didn't have any available. I could tell by how full the parking lot was that not all the rooms were occupied and found it hard to believe that they couldn't find a microwave from an unoccupied room for someone that they considered one of their premier customers. Secondly, they did not have the morning breakfast buffet that is considered almost standard at most other hotels I have stayed in. They did have a restaurant on the premises but having to sit down at a restaurant and deal with the wait staff and all the hassles of a real restaurant is annoying when all you want is a small breakfast of a bagel and some yogurt. If I have to return to that area I will likely be looking for another hotel.

I just want to point out that this is by far one of the best Holiday Inns in the State of Colorado that I have ever stayed. The staff is very friendly, very knowledgeable and the property has so much to offer - especially in Trinidad, CO.
The only item I will point out negative are the pillows on the king sized beds, they are a bit too small - at least they were in room 307 and my two other colleagues reported the same complaint,. But that's it - great otherwise - thanks!!!!
