To start out, the fire alarm sounded on Thursday an hour after arrival and had to wait in the parking lot until the fire department arrived and cleared the building. The room was humid the whole time and very uncomfortable to stay in. All my clothes and belongings still had a wet feeling when I got home and unpacked. Next, on Sunday morning at 5 or 6 AM the fire alarm went off again!!! Was unable to get a decent sleep that night! The hottub was so hot you couldnt get in and the pool water was so cloudy that the bottom was invisible. The only good thing I can say about this place is the food was good and the room service was well. They also provided a wash area for the Corvettes that weekend which was nice. They delivered me what I needed but probably will stay a different place next year.

One lamp had a burned out bulb (Housekeeping detail when cleaning?).
The remote TV control did not work and needed to be replaced.
There was no regular coffee in the room. At the desk, the attendant said that there were no regular packets in the hotel and they would go to the Holiday Inn Express when they had time and get some. I never did get regular coffee in my room. I guess they never had time.
There was also no soap at the sink or tub. When I stopped at the desk on my way to a reception, I asked and was handed two bars. I deferred taking them with me for the evening and requested a delivery be made to the room. The clerk seemed indifferent to my statement.
When I went to the cocktail hour snack table, there were no plates or silverware. Guests were serving themselves with napkins and toothpicks. I asked at the bar about plates and was told that I would have to find someone from the wait staff to request that.

This Holiday Inn pleasantly surprised me in a couple of aspects - the food at the "Grill" was really good (much better than the limited and somewhat unattractive menu would lead you to expect) and the service was great. Everyone was happy to help out and assist wherever needed. The pool was also very nice and well kept.
I have a couple of complaints: 1) their "Fitness Center" only has 5 pieces of equipment, and of that, only one treadmill. Treadmills are the prime piece of equipment, and those of us who used the Center had to schedule our visits around each other. Also, though available 24 hours (which I love) the lock was broken, meaning I couldn't always get in. Also, they don't have a weight set, even a set of hand weights. That missed the mark for me.
2.) The other complaint is one I have of all Holiday Inns - I would love to make their decorator stay in one of the rooms. The curtains don't close! This kills me. I travel a lot for work and prefer absolute darkness so I can get the maximum amount of sleep on the road. The curtains are only decorative! You can't close them at all which means you can't block out the light from the parking lot or nearby gas station. I amazes me that they missed the boat on this.

1. We get into our room and discover the pullout sofa does not have sheets. Informed by front desk that person responsible is "on lunch" and can't help us???
2. We happen to be Chicago Blackhawk fans and game 2 of the NHL finals was played last Saturday night #6/15/13#. I did not see NBCSports listed as a channel in our room so I called the front desk and spoke to "Lindsey" who told me that the rooms don't have NBC Sports but the game would be on in the bar downstairs. Fair enough .... we go down to the bar and there are about 50 very irate people standing around saying the Hawks game is not on??? I walk to the front desk and ask Lindsey why the game isn't being shown ... her response .... #she starts by laughing# and says "Oh I'm not a Hawks fan and we have MSNBC not NBC Sports"? Are you kidding me? This is the best you can do for front desk staff?
3. Sunday morning #6/16/13#... I go downstairs to get a cup of coffee. As I look around for a stirrer I see a container with 1 stirrer and it has been used. A staff member is standing in the area so I ask if they have more in the back and he tells me no they are all out?
4. Wireless was not working. Despite several attempts to "connect" to my Ipad I called the front desk and nobody had any idea how to connect much less any knowledge about internet service.
I can keep going here but I think/hope you get the picture ....
There are many more choices in the area ... I wish we had selected a different location!

The people that work there were great. The only thing is when we went to check out there were no carts. We asked the person at the desk if she knew where we could get one and the answer was " if there not there I don't know". I think I would of said" Let me see if I can find one for you."
Also we were going to eat there one night. We walked in to the bar area and started to sit down. Most of the chairs were stained. We had to move chairs around to fine clean ones. Then they came out with menus that were copied on a computer. Two or three pages stapled together some of them had food stains on them.
The stainless steel and the floor in the elevators need to cleaned.
It just need a lot TLC.

Been staying at this hotel for some time for work and liesure. Have always been satisfied with the service and personel. Had the privilage of having pizza from the restraunt recomended by the manager that was excellent. A special thank you to him and the staff. Look forward to the next stay.

I am a weekly guest of this Holiday Inn. Spending a lot of time away from my home and family, it is a pleasure to interact with the friendly staff at this hotel. I have experienced no problems whatsoever during any of my stays over the past four months which adds to my ability to relax on my free time. Everyone at the front desk (Laura in particular) has bent over backwards to make my stay as close to living at home as possible. I would recomend this hotel to anyone anytime.

Suitable for some purposes, especially if you have a car, and has expected features in this kind of hotel. I forgot how bad the food is though - and there doesn't seem to be many other places within walking distance.
Also, it seemed odd that my 1st floor room had only sheer blinds that I'm assuming one could see out but others could not see in? Because the heavier blinds are only decorative and cannot be closed. This lets in a lot of light early in the morning.
Also, I was disappointed that this hotel has no recycling available.
On the up side, the staff are very good and it was easy to book a shuttle to the downtown area.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! The staff assigned me a room that was already taken! I walked into a family sleeping and was so embarrassed. When I went back to the front desk, they gave me a different styled room then I originally booked. Which is fine because I double checked with the guy and he assured me that the rates are the same(not that they should charge me a higher rate anyways since they messed up by placing me into an occupied room). When I got my bill on the last day, it showed that I was charged at a higher rate than what I was told. I went to the front desk the women there acted as if I was crazy for saying they charged me more .I specifically told them that on the original form that I "signed" during check in it was a different rate than what was on the bill. The woman walked over to the files pulled out the sheet for my room and pretty much threw it in front of me and said, "it's $xxx" Clearly trying to tell me that I was wrong. I looked down and showed her that I did NOT signed that paper, that paper was stapled in front of the one I actually signed. Not only did they try to charge me a higher rate for changing rooms (because they messed up and gave me someone's room.) She lacked basic customer service skills. I don't know why she's even in this business if that's how she's going to treat a customer with an inquiry. To make matters worse, they had expired milk in the breakfast area. It was seriously the worst experience I've ever had in any of my hotel stays. Instead of treating me like a customer, they acted as if I was bothering them. I thought that because the Holiday Inn was a big chain I wouldn't be experiencing things like this. I was wrong. I will think twice about booking a stay with a Holiday Inn and next time I'm in Champaign, I will DEFINITELY NOT stay there. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

This hotel needs lots of upgrades. Even the remote control for the television is 1980's. lukewarm water for shower. Take my advice, stay at the holiday inn express across from this hotel.

I stayed here last weekend for the Kiwanis dinner for the U of I basketball team. 600 people in attendance and 1 lobby bartender. Not a drop of hot water in the shower. The walls are paper thin. I could hear the guy in the room next to me talking on the phone at 6:30am. I expected more.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn was great. The room was quiet I never heard any other people in the hotel. It was clean and smelled great! I was amazed that a Holiday Inn was such an affordable place to stay with great accomadations!

It is always a great experience staying at the Holiday Inn Urbana. I cannot say enough good about all of your staff and look forward to staying there when I am in the area. I'd especially like to recognize your desk clerk Diamond. She always greets me with a beautiful smile and does her very best to take care of my room requests. I travel for a living and wish everyone I met in her position had her attitude.
If ever asked I would most certainly recommend Holiday Inn Urbana as an excellent place to stay.

My husband I stayed here during the marathon weekend 2013. It was a very nice hotel. It was very clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff that we met were all helpful and friendly. There was a lot going on when I was checking in and several people in line behind me needing information and trying to ask questions. The woman who helped me was incredibly patient and calm and nice. The only reason why I gave it a "good" instead of "excellent" is I think she was trying too hard to multi-task and was helping too many people simultaneously, and it was actually slowing down the service a little. She was trying to answer the phone, answer other people's questions, and help other front desk staff, while also getting my keys ready, but she was very nice and helpful. For what we needed, this hotel was perfect. It was also very convenient for it to be right off the highway.

I attended a conference at this location. The breakfast was good the first morning. The luncheon food was good although served late. The even banquet food was terrible, We had Chicken Divan which was a dried out chicken breast with a brocoli floret topped with canned cheese sauce, and roasted potatoes. Very disapointing and cold. And the dessert was the exact same offering we had at the luncheon. They must have had left over potatoes as they served them at breakfast the next day. The elevators are in need of maintenance. On the upside my room was clean and I had plenty of room.

Very clean & comfortable hotel. Has a beautiful atrium with pool. I really enjoyed the view from my room overlooking the atrium. There was a wonderful bar in the atrium also, which I was not able to enjoy. Maybe next time. I will definitely stay here again if in town. Hotel was very clean & beautiful inside.

Spent the Mom's Weekend here for which we had to pay month's in advance and unrefundable. Brunch was a disaster - long lines and no tables. We ended up taking our food to our room. I would think they would have this figured out by now. At the coffee stands, one was empty and the other had sugar but no cream. Very unprepared. Hotel room was adequate however heating/air unit made horrible "fog horn" sound at 2:00 am and the rest of the night. Did not sleep well. Not a pleasant experience.It's a shame - location is good.

The front desk was welcoming but mistakenly said the 5th floor (which was for Priority Card Holders) served coffee outside the elevators every morning. So, I was really disappointed in Sat. when I went for a cup and there was none. I called the front desk and they said "Not on Weekends." Uggg. I also needed a cart to bring in a large box from my car. None was available. I ask at the front desk if they could find one. A maintenance man went to look for one but 15 minutes later he still ad not returned. Ugggg. Other wise, the room was clean, the bed comfortable, the food reasonably prized BUT the noise from the pool went on until 12:30 AM and I was on the 5th floor at the other end of the building. Ugggg again.

It was a great place to get together with people attending the Illinois athletic event. The commons is well designed. The bar was reasonably priced and they stayed open a little longer for the crowd.
