Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff, location convenient to ski slopes I stayed in this hotel 3 times in the last 3 months, for a week each time skiing in Vail. The staff, especially Diego, the front desk manager, are very friendly and responsive to my needs. The shuttle is running on time, and the drivers are very helpful. The local cafe restaurant has very good food at reasonable prices, and the hotel is in short walking distance to the supermarket and some fast food outlets. February 25, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location - close to everything you need! Requested refrigerator and microwave at check-in. They arrived immediately. The food and bars inside the hotel are great! You can walk to grocery and liquor store. We rented ski equipment inside the hotel, so convenient. Appreciated the hotel shuttle to Vail. Loved our king executive king room with balcony. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Upgrade - NO upgrade; pack - unpack I have been staying at this property for years using rewards points and have been upgraded to a condo the past four years. Several other family member typically join me at the hotel and having one condo between us allows us to gather for après ski and some meals. This year there is a new General Manager and point value not only increased by 10,000 points but I was given an upgrade and then had it taken away the day before arrival. Upon arrival I managed to get an upgrade if I paid a nightly fee which I agreed to (said fee was never charged in the end) for a few nights then had to move to a lesser room the 4th night. (pack and unpack) I was promised the upgrade again for the fifth night so I packed but the upgrade did not materialize - unpack. The sixth night I did get the upgrade - pack & unpack - which was nice other than the packing thing as I had to pack the next morning for check-out. Keep in mind that Vail is a ski resort and packing and unpacking each day can be quite a chore as one has multiple sets of clothing types depending on the activity and time of day. Also, each morning is hectic enough without packing just trying to make the early shuttle for the best skiing. While I did have the General Manager of the hotel where I keep a suite 24/7, 365 days/year for the past six (6) years in a row call this GM to help make my case, her efforts seemed to fall on deaf ears and while I did figure out who the GM was in Vail, he never introduced himself. The lesson here is that just because I am treated like royalty at the hotel where I spend a great deal of money, I will no longer believe that earning literally millions of points at one property will translate into preferential treatment at other properties, regardless of IHG's marketing efforts attempting to convince me otherwise. I can hear their response now that upgrades are only given when available and things can change, etc. etc but allow me to respond in kind and will listen with my deaf ears. The bottom line here is that my vacation time is much too precious to risk by trusting IHG's guidelines for treating Platinum members and I will avoid doing so in the future. February 11, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A bargain for the area Had a wonderful time visiting this location. Staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable of the area. If you asked for a good local place to eat, they would offer you several locations with directions ( all of which we're not the touristy restaurants ). Excellent food too I might add. They also have three restaurants on the premises and two with bars. The rooms seem to need some updating as they are a little outdated and are showing some signs of needing a face lift. Nothing that would keep me from staying here again though. For your best comfort, I would recommend booking one of the 'king condo' rooms. They come with full kitchens, fire place, balconies, full bathroom and a powder room. They also have upgraded mattress that sleeps wonderfully. Definitely worth the price. February 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Apex Holiday Inn is terrific I was very satisfied with my 4 day stay at the Apex Holiday Inn in Vail. Excellent service and terrific housekeeping. Friendly shuttle drivers. The big Safeway store is a two minute walk for anything you are in need of. My king bed standard room was large and I was given a fridge and microwave. Excellent bathroom and water pressure. No highway noise. The hotel is going to a new cable service soon which means a popular morning three hour long Vail and ski information program can be seen. I recommend this Holiday Inn. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by A complete disappointment First, let me say that both my husband and I are platinum members of IHG. Our family usually loves Holiday Inn hotels but this one was a complete bust. At check in we were told that kids do not eat free although the app had a photo of the hotel with a kids eat free banner across the top. When we showed them and asked about it they refused to do anything. We were told we could go ask the restaurants if our kids could have free food. Next came the issue with a mouse in our room, and mouse droppings in the morning on the bed our kids were sleeping on. When we told them, they said that they don't have mice and that someone must have brought it in with their ski gear since mice can't live in Colorado in the winter. Again, nothing was done about this. The clincher of the entire stay was that at check out we were charged for a room that we had booked with points through an airline. My husband spent the next 90 minutes dealing with the manager of the hotel who was completely out of line. First, he charged our credit card we had given at check in. Then he went to our IHG account and charged the credit card linked with it and told us that it was not our credit card at all. Finally, he told my husband that he had two days to figure it out with the airline or he would send a collection agency after us because he was going to get paid for the room one way or another. So, the next day another 60 minutes was spent with the airline (who was completely shocked that my husband was the one dealing with it). It was solved very quickly when they figured out that the hotel had put in the wrong code when redeeming our certificate. Two and a half hours of vacation were wasted for their mistake. Of course, the same manager who threatened us, never called to apologize! This man should not be working in customer service. This hotel, its employees and our experience did not live up to any of the standards we have seen at other Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels. It was so bad that I question our loyalty to this brand. January 28, 2014
