Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Security Flaws and Cold Service When we checked in I noticed what looked like a lot of security features which was nice since we were half a block from not the nicest part of town (sex shops give that away pretty quickly). Turns out- the garage is not actually locked and anyone can access it easily. You can also get up to the rooms from the street level (or unlocked garage) without a key. The second night of my stay I got a curt call from one of the employees (he never identified hit title) asking why I hadn’t checked my voicemail. Traveling from the States I couldn’t check it on my phone due to a lack of data and never saw one on my room phone, furthermore I was in town for a half-marathon and had spent the day at the runners expo. When I explained this he brushed me off then informed me that my car window had been smashed and I needed to come downstairs. He connected me to the non-emergency line for the Vancouver PD and I filed a report. He told me that the garage was run by a third party and the hotel was not liable for the damage but he was very generously going to cover the parking. He also stated that I must have left valuables in the car (I didn’t) and insinuated the break in was my fault. The only highlight if you could call it that, was that hotel did have someone to vacuum out the glass (that gentleman was actually very nice, and very apologetic) and put plastic over the now non-existent window. This happened to at least 4 cars that evening and two of us were in town for the same race. I am now looking at an additional $1,000 expense, the people who broke the window tried to pry the door off first causing extra damage, for a room that can only be described as fine and service that was cool at best and condescending at worst. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Adult v child Beware of the small print. When we booked online we entered the ages of our children (12 and 14) and they were classed as children. When it came to the "kids eat free" with each paying adult, the 14 year old was classed as an adult so we were charged extra. We did like the family room with an extra bed in the alcove. Most of them are great in turn of value and services. Pervious comments from business traveller on this location have been most critical and it does speak volume. My observation: . Great location . Zero recognition for Club Membership at the front desk, (such as “welcome back” or “thanks for staying with us again”, I.E) . Some front desk agent needs training on customer services and learns to smile . Small bath room and low shower head August 6, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable & Convenient Stay Check-in was flawless and the young woman on duty at the time (7-27-31) went above & beyond. We were pleasantly surprised to have a kitchenette in our room and made very good use of it. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast both mornings - both food & service. On Monday afternoon, after totally exhausting ourselves Saturday & Sunday we enjoyed quiet time on the balcony off the 2nd floor. The hotel is perfectly situated for walking almost anywhere you want to go plus tour busses stop right at the front door. Elevators a bit of a pain at busier times. We are able-bodied so could walk up and use 2nd floor elevators but for anyone that must use the elevators from main entrance it could be trying. Cleaning staff was adequate only and on Monday did not do a good job at all. We left early and did not do up a few dishes we used the night before and they were left in the sink. Reusuable coffee cups not replaced and the bathroom was left without a bath mat and shower did not appear to have been cleaned (as indicated by soap dish). We had to leave the hotel 4 a.m. on Tuesday. Check-out was a breeze and our cab, previously ordered, was there early. All in all a favourable experience and we would use the hotel again. Having never been to Vancouver, we did not know if this location truly was a "great location". It is ! We booked a hop on hop off bus through the hotel, and the stop was across the street. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by check in On arrival at check in there was no priority desk we waited for over 20 mins the girl did not notice we were club members the keys and breakfast tokens were not ready and had to be filled in by hand. Our luggage which arrived from the rocky mountaineer was just stood in the entrance, not securely stored. Our room was up a flight of stairs which was difficult for us. Other people were also having difficulties checking in. The upside of the hotel was the restaurant which was very welcoming and the food was of a good quality. July 12, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, rooms variable I had a good stay at the hotel, and found the hotel staff to be incredibly helpful. The first room I was allocated on the excutive floor was pretty poor (very stale smell, ineffective air conditioning), but the duty manger helpfully moved me to a far better room, and I had a relaxing stay. I had breakfast both mornings, which was fine, and I tried the hotel gym, which was well equipped and quite quiet the days I was there. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from two of the Canada line stations, so handy for the airport (as well as most attractions). July 6, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable but lacks personal touch Hotel good location for downtown amenities . Clean and spacious rooms and the beds very comfy. Breakfast was included in our rate but was specified that only three items from either the buffet or hot plate was offered and ONE drink. Dinner wa a no no - we were unable taste the food as having waited for ten minutes and being totally ignored by all the staff we walked away and dined elsewhere.. In all it was a comfortable stay but with lack of interest taken by the reception staff , and the lack of attention of the gentleman sitting on a computer in the middle of the lobby who was there to help with excursions and general interests of the city, I feel that the staff need refocusing on customer care. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by NO INTERNET I have stayed at this hotel for all my business trips to Vancouver, (3-4 nights, 3-4 times a year for the past 10 years. I must now say I am not staying there any further. During my last trip in March 2013, I could not use the internet because it was sooooo slow or did not connect at all. I connect fine to the wireless but the hotels internet is the worst. I complained but had no internet during my stay. I just returned from my latest trip in June 2013 and the same problem. I complained and the staff had no explanation, they were well aware of it from others complaining. So again I spent my business trip with no internet. As the rest of the traveling business people know, the hotel MUST have internet so we can take care of business on the road. It is obvious this hotel is not fixing this problem and perhaps is not concerned with business travelers so I have stayed there for the last time. I also miss the nice couple who ran the gift shop they removed. July 2, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location for visiting sights in Vancouver We enjoyed our visit to Vancouver while staying at this Holiday Inn. The hotel was walking distance to most of the sites. It was also across the street from a Hop on Hop Off Trolley stop which made it very easy to see the city sights. They had a good breakfast buffet. I would have liked it to include fruit and be a bit less expensive. The rooms were nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. We would stay here again while visiting Vancouver. June 28, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay in downtown Vancouver At the downtown Vancouver Holiday Inn every staff member we encountered during our stay was extremely helpful and nice. The front desk staff instantly moved my reservation to a differently-appointed "family" room when we requested an additional bed, and gave us a key for each adult in the room without being asked. The housekeeping staff were friendly and quickly supplied the few additional items we needed, and various staff cheerfully gave us directions and tips on where to park, which elevator to use, etc. The location is excellent for walking and sightseeing in downtown Vancouver. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and there was a large outdoor patio/balcony off the second floor conference area for the smoker in our family. And the price for a 6-person family room was very reasonable for Vancouver. For a fresh, reasonably-priced, centrally-located hotel in downtown Vancouver--one with very helpful and friendly staff--I can highly recommend this Holiday Inn. June 20, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant stay at Holiday Inn Downtown Vancouver A group of 8 of us stayed at this hotel in May 2013 for 3 days. The hotel was conveniently located to the downtown area and with many choices for food outlets within walking distance. The staff were efficient and courteous and took immediate action when we requested for something. An additional plus point is the availability of coin-operated laundry machines. The customer service representative gave each of our 3 rooms a complimentary basket of fruits because of an error in the reservation process. We had a pleasant stay and would definitely consider staying here again. June 12, 2013
