Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful property! This hotel is beautiful and comfortable. I loved the shower, bed, and décor. The restaurant had a great buffet for a very reasonable price. We were there with a large group, and our group rate was more than a good deal! The only thing that wasn't perfect was the hairdryer in our room, which only blew cold air. However, I'm sure if I'd taken the time to ask for a new one it would have been taken care of. I will definitely stay at this hotel again. April 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Management, but not perfect. Well, this Holiday Inn is head and shoulders above most of the breed. Rooms are newish, clean and up-dated. Public rooms are beautiful. Staff is right on top of things. But: TV channels did not include PBS and analog channels were dreadful. It means to me that when they updated the hotel they did not upgrade to fiberoptics. Food was irresponsibly average to bad. I realize that conventions and meetings is what the food service is set up to serve but, undercooked fried eggs? Come on! An omelet, another morning looked good but was so overcooked it was rubbery. Do not have the nachos on a dare. Not good. Service in the dining room was splendid... but ... perhaps the chef should take one of his better people away from banquets and put them on regular food service. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Middle of the road - stayed worse, stayed better I stay here every few months, not because I love it, but because it is convenient and rates are competitive. The rooms are "OK", although some of the furniture is tired. Like the flatscreens, like the large shower (no tub), but the "retro" desk chairs and furniture in the king rooms, i dont like so much. Carpet feels a little questionable on bare feet. Looks like an aging hotel that has been updated. The CafeExpress coffee area is not open year round. When not open, guests can have breakfast in the resturant (breakfast buffet), which is a good value. Definitely not luxrious, but absolutely comfortable and clean. April 17, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Quickly becoming a low end hotel Because the huge volume of contractors that apparently make this location their home during the week, the hotel is starting to feel like a Red Roof. Not because of the fact that contractors are staying there but because of the way they are allowed to live at the property. When walking through the parking lot, there are numerous glass door staying wide open with people laying on their beds and lots of people congregating outside for patio parties and cook outs. I noticed 3 grills going at one time and when I was checking in a Airline Pilot made, what was evidently, his 3 call to the front desk complaining of noice and smoke from grills. He probably will not return. If this hotel is going to allow this, they need to designate an area for grilling and partying away from where others sleep and rest. The staff is always visible and accessible . The food is great ( especially the morning grits!) newly Renovated and large conference facilities. Great fitness room, pool,. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall Very Good I spent almost a week at this location. I was here last about 4 years ago. They had just started the renos on the room. Looks amazing compared to what it had been, very nice and modern feel. However, Its seems that maintainence is starting to slip. 3 Glaring examples that I noticed were. Elevators had a missing light and one that was being held up with shiny tape. Pipe covers in the public mens room where rusting (this is a 4$ fix as I have bought the same kind of covers about 3 weeks ago). Wall behind room door was primed white and had NOT repainted to match wall color. That all being said I would hate to see the place resort to what it had been before the renovations. The staff, rooms, bar, gym, and other odds and ends were excellent. The bar in the evening was a great meeting place and I met wonderfull guests and employees. January 24, 2013

Numerous times I went down for breakfast to find restaurant closed due to "Not enough rooms sold". Not my problem. When the restaurant was open it was out of menu items for weeks at a time. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Location, Location, Location I frequently stayed at this property in 1989-1992, mostly for easy highway on/off and proximity to Norfolk, Va Beach, etc. But it's showing its age despite the Class-A lobby upgrades. The room's heat pump works and sounds like a leaf blower and is binary (on or off, no correlation to thermostat input). I was in a double but was surprised that there was a tiny bistro-sized table and two side-chairs rather than a proper desk. and chair. And since the table is in front of the above-mentioned heat pump, one might want to bring a hat and a paperweight. December 12, 2012

Upon check-in we were given a handicapped room with a tub and no way to transfer from the wheelchair to the tub. Upon notifying the front desk of the problem they QUICKLY found a room that fully accommodated us and then assisted us in moving our "stuff". October 27, 2012
