Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Staff I spent five nights at the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach - Norfolk for a reunion of members of my ship I served aboard over forty years ago. It was a very relaxing time to renew old friendships and acquire new ones. As secretary of the organization I had work requirements during the stay. The business center was very convenient in that I did not have to drive to a local business center to make last minute changes to schedules or to print meeting minutes for immediate dissemination. The staff was very helpful in resolving any glitches that came up and end the end, made me look, perhaps more productive that normal (thanks Yolanda) and others. Housekeeping was hard at work everyday and at the end of each day I had a perfect room to "crash in" for the night. October 11, 2014

But several of the other staff members real care about the guest and it shows. Laura the bar tender always delivers my food and drink with a smile, and always makes me feel welcome. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by in transit my wife and i were returning home from a vacation in the outer banks of NC. We spent the night at the holiday inn in Va. Bch. since we had an early morning flight back to Los Angeles the next morning. Personally I was impressed with the hotel upon arrival. It was not the typical Holiday Inn I was used too with a large atrium and bar in the lobby, very airy and open. The desk clerk was very much appreciated my us when she offered to have me follow her back to the airport to return our rental car as we did not have directions. She waited for us and then returned us to the property. I thought this to be above and beyond the call of duty. The bar staff was pleasant and fun to talk too. the restaurant staff was very accommodating and the service was quick. Overall, I have to rate this particular Holiday Inn a 10 out of 10. Bill F. Everything about the hotel was great, except for when I tried using the internet to get some work done while I was there, the connection was horrible, and it took me several hours of trying to finish my work. We were waited on at the desk with very pleasant faces and with dignity. We went to a very clean Guest room with a very clean bathroom. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by FOOD The breakfasts were bland. One morning the bacon tray remained empty from when we arrived, until we leaved. At one dinner, my steak dinner was served cold; I will never forget that. Overall the food service needs work. The scrambled eggs were not good either. One morning there was no fruit available at all and another morning no orange juice. When I ordered a Bloody Mary at the bar, I was told that there was no celery, would I like an olive? I asked the bartender to see if she could find some celery in the kitchen and she went there and came back with celery. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by average stay- lousy restaurant Hotel accomodations were average compared to other hotels. The lobby area was extremely cold and was difficult to sit and chat with friends .For such a large hotel the lack of luggage carriers was a great inconvenience for both checking in and out especially when your stay is for four days. We were not happy that the indoor pool was September. The Ashley Restaurant breakfast was totally unenjoyable. The table clothes were dirty. I witness a server brush off a used table with a clean napkin and then leave it there for another to use. The food was not very appetizing and at 9:20 AM most trays were empty. I was unfortunate that my four breakfasts were pre paid or I would have been better off paying at Denny's September 24, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok stay The suit was large and roomy. Bathroom was leaking and had to be fixed. Never felt with the kind of flooring in the room that it was really clean. It was always damp. Your front desk and Betsy and May were great to work with, The first nights buffet was a little skimpy. The banquet night the food was really good, The breakfast was great the first couple days but the Thursday you were short staffed and there was not much food to go around, September 23, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn - VA Beach Very nice room, spacious and clean. Large hotel with wide open lobby. Good reliable internet connection. There was a bar, and restaurant. I was the sole diner on the night of arrival, the wrap and fries I ordered were good and reasonably priced. Just a few minor issues: Machines in the gym had broken screens as if someone was hitting them. I don't know if they were in the process of drying the carpets or something, but there was a musty odor in the hallway on the sixth floor. Not a big deal, and not noticeable in the room. The remodelling job is actually pretty amazing considering what it was like the last time I stayed here. The staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. That goes for the front desk, the restaraunt/lounge staff as well as the housekeepers. I would recommend this location to anyone looking to stay in the Va Beach area that isn't trying to stay on the Oceanfront. September 4, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Very nice hotel, clean and orderly My family and I were staying here during our recent trip to the beach for some fun in the sun as well as a half marathon at VA Beach. We had a great time but when the day was done it was nice to come back to the clean and orderly hotel for some downtime and rest. Our requests we handled professionally and promptly, our room was always cleaned and ready for our return. Veronique did a fabulous job taking care of us. We are still looking for our football left behind by my son, if anyone finds it please send it back. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back again in the future. It is set up as if you can help yourself, but when you ask for a cup, you are told there is a cost. If coffee is not going to be complimentary, it should not be placed on a counter in a manner that appears to be self-serve. September 2, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and clean room The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice. I was only in town one night for a half marathon and the room worked well for me. My only minor issue was that the room seemed kind of damp and the A/C unit didn't seem to make the room overly cool. I was comfortable enough not to complain though and would recommend this hotel!
