1. Late check-in time...not until 4 pm. Our room was not ready when we arrived. Lots of lame excuses from front desk people about numerous check-outs that day...that shouldn't be my problem! I was told they would give me a call when our room was ready. It was nearly 5:30 pm and still hadn't got a call so I went to the front desk and was told our room was ready but they got too busy to call me...thanks a lot! 2. There were no luggage carts available to use. 3. This hotel has by far the slowest, worst, unreliable elevators of any hotel I have ever stayed at. This was something that ALL the guests complained about the entire time. Twice, the elevator by the Square Whale restaurant broke down and was out-of-service. Guests constantly were forced to use the extremely hot, narrow, fire stairwell steps to get to and from their room floors. There was only one elevator that went to the 7th floor. I can't begin to count the number of times I walked up or down seven flight of stairs during our stay. Except for the 1st floor there are no digital read-outs to inform you what floor the elevator was currently on. You had no idea if the elevator was only a floor away from you or if it was stopped on a distant floor for the past 10 minutes. If you were lucky to actually get on an elevator it stopped at almost every floor on the way down. Most of the time there was nobody waiting to get on since they got tired of waiting and took the fire stairs. This, along with housekeeping staff also using this elevator, slowed down the elevator even more. If you like to spend your vacation waiting on elevators this is a hotel for you. 4. Finally got up to the door of our room and the card keys did not work. After waiting more than 5 minutes for an elevator I walked down 7 flights of stairs to the front desk. After waiting for 3 people to check-in I was told my the front desk person that it was probably my fault the cards didn't work...I must of had them near my cellphone. (Funny how numerous people experienced this same problem during our stay.) 5. There were no pillows, sheets or blanket for the sofa bed. It was very uncomfortable too. The bed was supposed to be a king-sized bed it wasn't even close to being that size...it was much smaller. 6. The very low water pressure in bathroom sink and shower was a disgrace. It was hard to take a shower. 7. Three days in a row housekeeping didn't supply soap, shampoo or conditioner. 8. After waiting 15 minutes to be seated at the Square Whale for dinner we didn't have a waitress stop by for a half hour. Finally I flagged down a waiter who was walking by. Otherwise, we might still be sitting there waiting. 9. The two cheap, plastic chairs on the deck were very uncomfortable. Our stay at this hotel was very poor and I would not recommend anyone staying at this hotel.

Holiday Inn North, VA Beach, has everything you want for a wonderful vaca. Located at the end of the boardwalk makes it less crowded and more private. Beach is lovely and clean and many, many activities to see and do. Would HIGHLY recommend for families and anyone!

This was our second time staying here.The first time with our children and now with my spouse. Each time the staff was phenomenal. They were so helpful and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and inviting.
