Close proximity to M1 but no noise issues at all. This hotel is my overnight choice when working in the north east and North yorks, and will have custom again soon. July 12, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tour de France weekend- amazing stay We looked at the breakfast times and seeing 7.30 on Saturday we sheepishy came down at 6am, (knowing we had to be in our sponsor car at 6.30am) and asked if we were too early for breakfast. We were greeted with 'Of course not!' and helped ourselves to a lovely cooked breakfast. Fried eggs are the bane of my eating out life because I don't like the albumen crispy or brown and the yolk must be runny. These were perfect! We were out all day with le Tour but came back in time for a hot bath before going out for dinner at the nearby Thai restaurant. After a comfortable sleep, thanks to the blackout blinds, we came down early for breakfast again and found everything perfect as we now expected! A lovely hassle free stay where we felt like VIPs! No printed TV channel guide - having to try each one to find out what it is and then try to remember it was very annoying. Slightly complicated and changing booking requirements dealt with very well and cheerfully.on phone and in person. Internet booking system horrendous so I book direct with hotel on National number, NOT on 08xx which is even worse than on-line. June 25, 2014

We were attending a function and despite many guests there was only one person behind the bar leading to lengthy queue's while waiting to get a drink. The hotel would have got a much higher overall score but charging guests for WiFi is, I think, an insult. We have stayed in small private hotels throughout the country and WiFi has always been free. A very good experience marred by the above points. Would be reluctant to stay in Holiday Inn again because of lack of WiFi June 22, 2014

We stayed for one night in order to visit the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Barbara Hepworth Museum - the hotel is well placed for both, each being about a ten minute drive. We had a dinner, bed and breakfast deal, which was very good value. We really enjoyed our evening meal in an almost empty restaurant. The steaks were better than ones I have eaten in restaurants that would charge double the price! Although the hotel is on a motorway junction, we were offered a room as far away from the M1 as possible and could not hear any road noise. The pillows were comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. Finally, this rather ordinary hotel is somewhere I would return to because, on this and previous visits, all the staff we came into contact with were unfailingly professional, friendly and helpful. The only areas where there is any room for improvement are the WiFi is chargeable and the twin beds were not tied together into a double so ended up falling between the two!! May 28, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not suitable for wheelchair users Steep hill from disabled space to reception. The only way to access the room was by wheelchair lift up and then another down again. Both had to be operated by staff who weren't always on hand OR by going outside and right round to the back of the building. Accessible room had a bath with shower over which was not suitable for less mobile users. Food was great and hotel itself was lovely. May 22, 2014

However, this visit was lifted above the ordinary by the happy, genuine welcome from Gosia on reception - pre checked in as a Gold member and appreciated after a long day and a lot of driving. This continued in the restaurant, where staff were relaxed and friendly, and ended with a sincere "hope to see you again soon" on checkout. It's good that the only glitch was the printer failing on checkout, and a slight delay in using the second terminal. I have already booked my next stay when I am in the Leeds area, despite it not being the closest to my meeting point. May 20, 2014

Stayed three nights and for us coming from hustle and bustle of London, this was very relaxing and peaceful. Staff in all areas were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast buffet was excellent. Nice bar area for a relaxing drink after days out and room very comfortable and quiet for a good nights rest. Good view over green open space from restaurant. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by noisey boiler every thing was ok apart from the loud boiler that was above our room it kept us awake for most ov the night by the water boiling the staff were very friendly on our arrival and when we were going out they orderd us a taxi which was only a little thing but it was nice ov them to do that all the little things like that just make it a nicer stay not having to worry about silly litle things like that April 25, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Old and Dated The hotel was very dated from first look, I chose the Executive Suite for a Birthday treat for myself and a friend. Inside the room was very dated and cold, The duvet was so thin. I asked staff for extra towels and bathrobes as in the room there was only one, Although the room was booked for two ? Not sure what the problem was there. We went out and came back to find there were no extra towels, so had to leave the room again to go to reception and ask for them. I think the hotel is in need of a very good refurb, Im a regular customer to Holiday Inn/ Holiday Inn Express and very disappointed with my recent stay. :( April 19, 2014
