Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor value for money! Used this hotel for its location, however it is vastly overpriced. Would have been much cheaper staying in a better hotel a mile or two down the road. The rooms are comfortable but very small, the food & drink is also very expensive. December 3, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Satisfaction Zero I booked a double bedded room, 3 weeks in advance and prepaid. When I checked in I was allocated a room with 2 single beds, wondering if was to share with anyone I went back to reception to clear this up to be informed they had no more double bedded rooms available, like it or lump it but was offered a free drink at the bar. I declined the £3.50 drink. How does that work booked 3 weeks in advance ?? I did sleep in the single bed as I assumed it would be more comfortable than my car....upon reflection maybe not .... I did ask that when I return next week, could I ensure that I have a double bed please..... Im sure they will pull the stops out !! November 25, 2013

Whilst I have not had the pleasure of actually sleeping in a real prison cell, I am certain the room I was allocated by Holiday Inn Leeds/ Wakefield comes pretty close. Once through the initial entrance the room physically measured 11ft by 14ft ...... I assume that as a Gold priority club member and company IHG Business account holder, I am a relative captive customer and therefore gets the worst room ? Or does this Hotel have smaller rooms and my room was actually one of the best ..... .?? November 25, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 TV not working, painfully slow internet As a Platinum member, i normally receive an upgrade when staying at HI Wakefield. It was full this time, so no upgrade. However, the digital TV stations kept blacking out every 5 seconds, so watching a progreamme was impossible. Also, the 'free' internet was so slow I couldn't even download emails larger than 50k, it was taking forever. Normally the standard is much better but alas, not this time. November 18, 2013

I was extremely disappointed that in this day and age you can book an executive room for a 5 day business trip and still be expected to pay for internet usage. I will be looking elsewhere on principle for my next two stays in the area. November 4, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent, friendly service makes this a great place to stay We stayed at the Holiday Inn Wakefield for a weekend when attending a family wedding at a nearby venue. We were looking for a hotel that had clean, comfortable rooms at a good price which is exactly what we got. Our room was clean and we had an option of soft or firm pillows which definitely improved the comfort factor. We had paid for breakfast and were pleased with the choice and variety of dishes available. There was definitely something for everyone and the staff regularly checked that guests needs were met. The main thing that impressed me were the staff, in particular the night staff on Saturday 5th October. Despite already being very busy with a wedding at the hotel they also made the time to look after us and our relatives when we returned from the wedding we had attended. In fact nothing was too much trouble. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable and affordable place to stay then this is the place to you. It is by no means a luxury hotel but the price isn't luxury either and you get what you pay for. Thank you Holiday Inn for a great weekend stay. October 9, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by average stay Decent enough stay for 1 night in a standard room comfy bed. Wouldn't stay here again as wifi is £15 pet night!!! Ate in restaurant evening meal food lovely spoilt by automatic 10% servuce charge added to bill and room to fill in a gratuity on bill! Prefer to leave my own tip rather than be forced too spoilt a nice neal. No leisure club. October 7, 2013

Stayed here using my reward points, earned staying in other far better Holiday Inns including holiday inn express, for two nights 19-21 August , with my husband and 13 year old son,for purpose of visiting family. On arrival the woman on reception just stated " oh, your envelope will be on the desk", pointing to a number of envelopes there. There was no real welcoming feel , just completed the usual standard form and not recognising my rewards point holder status, apart from trying to sell us faster Internet connection which we declined. We enquired about breakfast, but as we she stated we would also have to pay for our 13 year old, who eats very little - we felt the £10.95 price was rather excessive for half a slice of toast that he would probably eat!!! - we all ate elsewhere, which was a pity as I've always found the breakfasts at holiday inns very good. The room was okay, but on our way out to visit our family we requested additional pillows, as advertised that Holiday Inn has a choice of, only to be told, by a different reception staff " oh, I've just been told we don't have any" . We were rather flabbergasted that a hotel that did not appear full, did not have any extra pillows!!!! Fortunately on our return, we were advised that they had got some and had been placed in our room - which indeed they had. Thankfully, we spent little time in this hotel, using it only for a base whilst visiting our family and sadly if this was our first visit to your group of hotels it would certainly be our last. If visiting that area again and needing to stay in hotels, I would not return to this particular one, probably choosing my preferred budget price, but not budget service, hotel that also provides complementary breakfasts for under 16's and has pillows on first asking!!!! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Mr cookson A pleasant bank holiday stay. the hotel was full to bursting but i really found it quiet and rested well.The breakfast was plentyful and of good quality all the usual things like bacon eggs etc and plenty of other nautral cerials and juices. deffo will visit again. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Yorkshire Hospitality My wife and i had a wonderful three day midweek break at the Leeds-Wakefield Holiday Inn Hotel off junction 40 off the M1. As soon as we walked through the door we were met with a lovely helpful smile from the receptionist which set the seed for a great stay. The staff were very helpful especially Emma and Angelina (Angel), who gave us some great tips on places to visit and served us some fantastic food and drink. This hotel is perfectly situated for travel links by rail or road to Wakefield, Leeds, York and is only an hour and half away fromGlasgow by rail. Would recommend the Rail links. It costs less than a tenner for two people return fare to Leeds, and the shopping was great. Back to the hotel. We ate in one night and recieved what i can only describe as some of the best food and service we have recieved in any previous hotel we have stayed. It was top class. The room was clean and comfortable, the maid was cheerful, and the typical yorkshire warmth from the bar and restaurant staff, (especially Emma and Angel) was clear to see. All in all my wife and i would highly recommend this hotel, and shall be returning in the near future. Thank you Holiday Inn. Top class. August 28, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very cheap hotel, rude staff The hotel is very cheap. The girl at reception was very rude. As platinum members there was no recognition at all. The keykard werent ready. I asked for an upgrade and she told me the hotel was full (and it wasnt and someonelse who arrived after me got upgrade). I had to ask if there were any 500 points voucher.
