An excellent place to relax and unwind. Enjoyed this first visit to Washington. Staff were very welcoming and made us feel at ease. The stay was very good value for money, which was an added benefit. Comfortable, which you would expect, but quiet too, considering the proximity of the A1. Looking to stay again.

Second time I have stayed in Washington UK and had a wonderful time. Room excellent and the food in the restaurant very special and the service good. Special member of staff Ann who was in charge at breakfast, we had great service even though she was rushed off her feet with the guests of a wedding party. This was true of all the breakfast staff.

The two young ladies at dinner acted as a real team, attentive but not overly so - a credit to the company. The food was great.
The only downside was lots of young boys rushing around the bar area, stairs and lifts which is why I suspect all other guests, except their parents, went up to their rooms

Very pleasant room in excellent surroundings. The room was spotless and very competively priced. The overall facilities were good with a bar serving alcohol as well as coffee/tea and a restaurant.
The hotel was well sitated and was close to local places of interest. It was also far enough away from the centre of the city thereby avoiding the noise and buzz of a lively centre.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

Stayed 2 nights over Easter in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Good breakfast with choice and had one very tasty bar meal. Rooms clean and beds very comfortable. Everything we needed at a reasonable price - Just what Holiday Inns do!

This must be the friendliest Holiday Inn I use the staff are chatty and seam to care about what you are saying. One of the nicest touches was the staff at breakfast knowing your name, when you got up to leave as they said goodbye XXXXXX.

I just wanted to comment on the welcome we received here. This isn't the most modern or up to date of the holiday inns i have stayed in but we had a lovely welcome and checkout, felt really looked after and would choose this hotel again simply because of the team there. very well done and thank you

I have stayed here a good number of times. Never had any real complaints although this time was given a disabled room which did cause me a problem.
As ever the restaurant was first class. My boss has stayed here too and even he said how nice the food was. Believe me if he said that it must be good!

Washington UK - Holiday Inn is well situated for visiting north east of England - staff are always 100% customer focused - rooms are a bit tired - but are spotless and well maintained,
Plenty of parking.

I travel a great deal with my job so it's important to me that my overnight stay is as close to 'home' as it possibly can be.
Over the past few months I have been staying at the Holiday Inn Washington and I can defiantly recommend this hotel, both in terms of value, friendliness and comfort.
Everyone should expect the best and as a Priority Club member the staff are attentive to my needs and treat me very well, is very much a home from home with the North East friendliness shining through. And even the hotel manager takes time from his day to mingle with the guests and ensure their needs are met.
Well done to the HI Washington - keep up the great work!

I am aregular visitor here why, its reasonably priced and you earn points
Rooms are very tired and quite scruffy now
But my major issue is the quality of the food in the restaurant which is consistantly poor ,comparable to average canteen food but at high high prices.The trouble is their is no alternative other than the Carvery in anywhere near,
Yes theyeven managed to ruin a mixed grill ....
Breakfasts are usually good though

I booked 2 rooms at the Holiday Inn Washington, in recent years I've used Intercontinental C Plaza & H I Express hotels around the world. Most stays have exceeded expectations but a bad experience last year lead me to look at other options!! however I like the Holiday Inn brand so continue to use them along with other brands. I must say while the staff were fine the room was poor, old furniture dreadful small bathroom and the beds awful.. I wont be staying again, although the Holiday Inn brand as a whole is generally pretty good; the other H I hotel I stayed in on this trip was great

I stay at this hotel most weeks and the staff are excellent. They are friendly, always happy to pass the time of day and recognise me so call me by name. It is a comfortable hotel, well run and a "home from home".

Good location right by the A1 North and South, warm and cosy but not too hot everywhere on a bitterly cold night. Choice of 2 pillows, hard or very hard, its not much of a choice, there used to be a good one kept in the cupboard but not any more. Paintwork rather tired in rooms and bathrooms. I had a late (9.30) breakfast as it was an icy morning but beans and black pudding were like bullets when I got there. Staff were all very good.

From the first welcome nothing appeared to much trouble to the friendly and efficient staff.
The room was a good size, well-furnished and warm and the bed /pillows comfortable.
The two courses and a drink for £14.95 for dinner - Mon, Tue & Wed were good value, tasty and well-presented.
Minor adverse things to note were the bath going rusty around the plughole, the lack of salting to the carpark and exterior paths in the snow and no upgrade available but these didn't cloud a pleasant stay, thank you.

I have stayed here before some years ago, and had the usual Priority Club welcome, which is always good.
The weather was dreadful and the fact that there is no road mentioned in the address did not help my sat nav to find it. It would be a simple improvement I think.
The snow was pretty bad and the car park remained icy underfoot for both days, but when I mentioned it some action was taken.
The bathroom needs some attention in the room I was in. The bath is chipped and it, and the sofa looked rather tired.
It really is about time they stopped chagrging for Wifi in this group . It's an essential to the buisness traveller, and should be free.
The food was pretty good and enjoyable, and doubtless I will be back

I have nothing but praise for the receptionists and the night porters at the Washington Holiday Inn. I was disappointed by the surley attitude of the waitress at breakfast. Myself and other guests commented that we felt that we were treated curtly for turning up for breakfast at 9am. The scrambled eggs has seen better days and I asked the waitress to request fresh ones from the kitchen. I should not have to point this out if the staff are running a proper service. The room was clean but the bed was hard and I expected some effort to be made to give me an upgrade as I am a platinum member. I did request this in advance. Won't be staying there again I'm afraid.

On this visit I found the bar seating area to be cold due to wind blowing through the main doors.
Parking is always good with easy access into the hotel from the Motorways.
Would recommend the carvery evenings in the restaurant.

I find it amazing that internet access is charged as an extra in a Holiday Inn when most Holdiay Inn Express sites (and much cheaper hotels) have free access even if only in the lounge/bar area. This is more important than a free newspaer or welcome pack!
This is now an old building which I accept is difficult to upgrade but the rooms are not as good as more modern hotels.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I would not wish them to think that they were doing anything less than an excellent job.

I stayed here while visiting sites around this area to carry out installs and staff training and found the Hotel a nice place to return too.
With friendly helpful staff and clean comfortable rooms that are well equipped and quite.
The Breakfasts are 1st class with a big selection of hot and cold food, and a choice of fresh fruit juices and tea or coffee with staff willing to help.
The Restaurant Evening meals are very good but on the expensive side but with staff that are friendly and know the menu and can offer good advice if stuck on what to eat or drink. It has a relaxed friendly atmosphere making it a pleasant place to eat if alone or with company.
The Hotel is close to a lot of main roads making it easy to travel to and from over sites.

The hotel and staff were warm, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much trouble and they went the extra mile when they found out that I was away from home for my Birthday.
I will certainly be returning to this hotel when I am in the area again. Thank you.
