Only strange thing was that they charged my credit card for more than the cost of the room, then refunded the complete charge and recharged for the correct price 2 days later. When I called about it, they said it was normal to charge for potential incidentals. I disagree with this practice. April 21, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location, no surprises I recently stayed five nights for business travel and was very impressed with the friendliness of the staff. From the front desk, to the housekeepers, to the servers in the restaurants, each person I encounter seemed relaxed, cheerful, and focused on the needs of the customer. The housekeeping supervisor even tapped on my door one afternoon at lunch time when I had stopped back by my room, just to inquire if all was ok with my room. The location for me was perfect, close to my work location as well as within walking distance to all of the major DC sights. Also within walking distance to a major Metro station - Lenfant Plaza. I only gave 2 stars for Sleep Quality due to the unusually loud AC unit in my room which to their credit I did not report while there (had already unpacked all of my stuff before I realized the issue and didn't want to have to move) or I am sure I would have been accommodated. Don't worry about the train noise as other reviewers have mentioned. I have stayed on both sides of the hotel and don't even hear it. I will stay there again if I return to DC. April 21, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Location.. Close to the mall area.. Good and friendly Staff I was on a leisure visit to DC and chose this hotel as i found it close to the mall area. It was indeed very close to all the major attractions. In case you have not purchased a tour before arriving at the hotel; there is a store in the lobby which sells tickets for various city tours, you can pick from one of the available tours. The staff at the hotel were friendly and nice. April 20, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very noisy Chose the Holiday Inn Capitol as it was the closest hotel to the meeting/conference I was attending and was close to other attractions. However the proximity of the hotel to a train station was a major issue. From 6am or so every morning and at approx 15 minute intervals the noise from the trains pulling into the station, the associated sounds and the train horn blasting upon leaving the platform made sleeping beyond 6am impossible. Coupled with this the aircon/heating unit was in the room and was rather noisy, especially when setting the room temp to a desired setting and the unit kicking in/out to achieve the setting. Fellow customer noise from the hallways and the next rooms flushing toilet made for a stay with little to no sleep. The price seemed quite steep too for what was provided. On a positive, the staff were friendly and helpful, especially the technician that attended to my noisy aircon/heating complaint. The only exception was the front desk manager upon checking out who asked how my stay was but didnt really want to hear my dissatisfaction with the general noise levels and eluded to it being my fault for not knowing there was a noisy train station and staying on that wing could have been avoided by booking earlier and/or requesting a different wing of the hotel. As an international guest, how is one supposed to know these things?!? It was suggested that next time I should call ahead and ensure a different room is booked. There wont be a next time as the risk for another rubbish night sleep is not something i would risk. April 19, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by With Reservations Conveniently located - helpful staff - excellent housekeeping BUT ask for a room away from the railroad tracks and avoid the in-house restaurant at all cost (and I mean "cost" - very expensive and not very good) Would recommend for convenience but room was very noisy (trains) and the restaurant was from hunger. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service !! The staff was exceptional. Attentive in assuring that our stay was pleasant and secure. We were treat royally. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet include variety of menu item. We're not limited to the same breakfast each morning. The location is great for walking access to all of the attractions on the National Mall, the Metro station and minutes from Reagan Airport. The room rate was acceptable. If I have small complaints it would be the air conditioning unit was difficult to find a comfortable temperature and we would have enjoyed the pool and work out facilty that was under renovation.
