Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff, Nice location This hotel was so convenient to the Mall and Museums. The staff could not have been nicer. I really liked the choice of pillows and the comfort of the bed. October 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location for a Family Weekend in DC The property had all a family needs for a tour of DC... A block from the Metro... just two blocks from the Mall... and a safe, well maintained property. Eating options close by are a bit thin but the Metro and or a 10 to 20 minute walk will get you all the options you could want... October 31, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Avoid Railway Side While in most respects our stay was comfortable, spacious, and the Mall proximity ideal, the railroad tracks were extremely noisy and often disturbing. The track sounds and whistles lasted late into the evening and started an hour before dawn in the morning. For future stays I will insist (as a condition of the stay) on a room opposite from the tracks or at least facing the interior. October 31, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice clean and great location Stayed at this hotel for a conference, the room, while not huge was clean and suited my needs. overall a good experience. October 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific location, conveniences and value right by the Capitol! I highly recommend this hotel if you want to be within walking distance to the Capitol and sites on the Mall (the hotel is a block/two directly behind the Air/Space Museum, and near the Botanic garden). Food was terrific, reasonably priced. Very comfortable bed. Hotel room was very clean, fixtures quite modern in the lovely bathroom, lots of hot water, windows on 2 walls in the smaller corner room let in lots of light (and the room still had a big-screen TV, a frig and great coffee machine. Also there is a Starbucks adjacent to the hotel. Staff were all very friendly, very helpful. The tour buses stop at the hotel which was convenient (especially for the evening tours of the monuments--also highly recommend that tour, especially in milder weather!) As expected, there was a little 'city' noise late evening from the nearby metro, or sirens, and also from other rooms (bring earplugs perhaps if you are a light sleeper), and the views are of office buildings, but those items were less than other hotels/locations, and were very minimal concerns considering all the other features and conveniences! Also taxi from the airport was very reasonably priced. October 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Weekend Great weekend away in DC to run Marine Corps Marathon. Encountered the friendliest staff at an IHG brand in a long time. Great location to walk the National Mall. October 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great DC location and excellent facility I have stayed here 4-5 times and it has always been a good experience. The location is great for the number of museums and sights within walking distance. The metro stop is close for others; we even took it from Reagan Airport. The hotel is comfortable and the staff excellent and helpful. A bellhop even remembered which bag was mine and pleasantly questioned my daughter with the claim check. The hotel food is good and accessing a Starbucks from the lobby is easy and convenient. I will stay here again my next trip to Washington. October 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great rates and great hotel,in an awesome location Stayed here for The George Washington University parents weekend. It was spotless, quiet and very comfortable.Join the IHG rewards club and save but also get late checkouts. We will stay here any time we come When taking cabs in DC I highly would recommend taking a Uber. Download before you go on your phone and you will get your first ride free. It is half the price of a cab accept on Holidays. Take a cab on holidays. Also you don't tip Uber drivers. It's not allowed. Another savings. This hotel has probably the best rates in this area. We loved it. October 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding Visit to DC Our recent 1 week visit to Washington DC with friends was wonderful. Our room at the Holiday Inn Capitol was perfect. Perfectly located (a block behind the Air & Space Museum and 5-10 minute walk to Capitol). 1 block from L'Enfant Metro station, Starbucks connected to the lobby, 21 Amendment Restaurant on site was very nice, rooms were nice with comfortable beds & pillows, office center on lobby level accessible with room key was available to print boarding passes and reservations to local attractions. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Taxis readily available outside. We used UBER and never missed a beat! Can't beat the proximity to Reagan National Airport - a quick 10 minute drive. Would definitely stay here again. Price was reasonable. October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by FSOA The hotel is connected to the State Department building where the FSOA was conducted, with all-indoor access through the FEMA corridors. The Holiday Inn staff was excellent! One restaurant was closed for renovations, so the other was very busy. Starbucks is accessible through the lobby. A great visit! October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and great service. Bed was very comfortable. All of the staff was friendly and helpful. October 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience All of the staff were extremely accommodating and very nice. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. It is easy to walk to many main attractions and there is a metro station within one block. There isn't a wide restaurant selection nearby, but the hotel restaurant is good enough for a quick bite. The train is pretty loud, but that didn't really bother me. October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Expirience My wife and I stayed during the last week of Sept and we had a great time. Location is second to none. Is just one block (3 minutes) from the Air & Space Museum and 5 minutes from a metro station. This hotel was recently remodeled and looks like new. Really quiet rooms. Good overall service. Highly recommended. October 27, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed and great service. Good location to Washington's sights. Great bed and TV. Easy and reliable internet access. Excellent staff. October 26, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by comfortable clean room good service hotel was great, close to the mall and metro . very clean and staff was great. the restaurant however was very disappointing the order was lost on my first visit [I was informed after 25 min wait ] and second time food was cold. needless to say I did not go back. October 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great place in DC to stay Overall this was a great place to stay. Being from the Western States I am shocked at the price to stay in a room so that was why the price wasn't good for me. Rooms were great. October 24, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great hotel for visiting Washington but... The location for visting the highlights of Washington was perfect! Bus 5A from Dulles airport stops around the corner, plenty of taxis available, most monuments and museums reachable on foot. The buffet in the restaurant was great, lots of choice and acceptable prices. In the neighborhood nothing much to do in terms of restaurants, pubs or shops but for a short stay it is not a problem I guess. The guestrooms were spacious and clean, the beds were superb and the bathroom was neat and clean. Wonder why they put in a bath to small to lie in and too big for a shower basin. Now the bad part: the room was situated at the back side of the hotel; heavy trains run just under your window and the driver thinks it is funny to blow his horn at 5 am on multiple occasions! We also had the bad luck to have a room with a connecting door to the room next door and because of the poor sound insulation we had to bear the loud talking and fooling around from the neighboring kids during a large part of the 2 nights we have spent there. I hope that the hotel management will be wise and improve the noise insulation considerably; how difficult can that be? Other than that, it was a pleasure to stay in the Holiday Inn Capitol. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent location to all the major attractions I was very pleased with my room. It was small, but comfortable. I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. Recent renovations in the rooms were classy and well done. Enjoyed the single cup coffee maker and refrigerator. I was in Washington to view the attractions and this location couldn't be beat. It was walking distance to most attractions and close to the Metro and buses. My only disappointment was the main dining room was closed so the bar and small restaurant was packed and noisy, not the atmosphere I wanted for a Saturday night dinner. The hotel appeared to have full occupancy every night. October 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice! Great location - walking distance to most everything. Pleasant staff, clean comfortable room - what more would you need for a weekend of sightseeing in Washington, DC? October 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!! If planning a trip for pleasure you could not pick a hotel as conveniently located and reasonably priced. The hotel is literally blocks away from the National Mall and very close to the monuments as well. The hotel gift shop sale tickets for the Old Time Trolley and it picks up just outside the hotel. The hotel staff accommodated an early check in for us and were very helpful with providing information for local attractions. We had the breakfast buffet one morning and thought that it was a good value. One night after having walked all day we were just too tired to go out for dinner and the room service meal was outstanding, I highly recommend the butternut squash ravioli. I would definitely stay here again in the future. October 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Spacious & Comfortable This was my first trip to Washington D.C. This property is just steps away from the National Mall. The Metra station is just a block away which is easy to navigate. Some guests may have a problem with the noise from the trains if their room is on that side of the hotel; it didn't bother me. I never experienced any "inside" noice which you experience at other hotels which may keep you up at night. Restaurant offered a nice breakfast buffet and also had happy hour in the evening. I can't wait to return with my two older grandkids so they can see our Nation's Capitol and will definitely stay at this hotel again. October 23, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed but loud Train... This is a nice hotel. Clean. but noisy!! The train side is awful and the water running through the pipes is so loud I thought my daughter was in the shower. October 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great with One Exception This hotel was great: great location, incredible food both in the restaurant and room service, and great staff. The only problem is that the train drives by every hour, blowing its horn and rattling the entire building. I wish someone would have mentioned this to us ahead of time. October 23, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best hotel I have ever stayed in The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean upon check in. During our stay the cleaning staff did an amazing job of cleaning and making the room perfect upon our return in the evening. Location was perfect. Cost was very reasonable compared to other hotels in the area. The room was very quiet. I NEVER heard a door slam or noise from adjacent rooms. I have stayed in scores of hotels in DC and other cities/countries. This was the best overall experience. October 22, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Toilet Fix the toilet seat in Rm 981 and the air conditioner. The noise is a deal breaker. October 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A visit to DC The hotel location is excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly. We had trouble with the toilet and called the was "repaired" but we still had to hold the handle down until the bowl completely emptied...which is not usually required. Only 1 restaurant was open and the service was slow and the food fair, at best. No eco-friendly towel practice. And only recycling bin was down a long hall and way too small for all the newspapers, etc generated by that floor. October 22, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Had to shout to each other to be heard.... Noisiest a/c ventilation system have ever heard in a hotel! We literally couldn't hear each other unless we shouted. Had to shut it off to sleep, but got really stuffy in the room as couldn't open window. Complained to front desk staff who just shrugged. October 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location Only quibble is to include more healthy low cal meal options, and to not have to login to the internet every 24 hours October 21, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great Location But ... We planned on spending the whole trip in the National Mall area so we chose this hotel. It was a little expensive due to the perfect location. However, our room was facing the train track so it got noisy whenever the train passed by. Also the air-conditioning was the old-fashion window unit. It was so noisy that we had to turned it off before going to sleep. The room also had a bad smell for some reason. Overall the hotel needs some complete makeover in my opinion. October 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location to Smithsonian We used the parking on short term each day and yet were charged a full $37 /day for whole stay. even if we were only parked 2hrs. This is NOT reasonable. Our son was staying at National Harbor for conference but came to be with us each day, using our car, for a few hours. Parking is at a premium. October 20, 2014
