This was the first time that my husband and I took our daughters to sight see in DC so we wanted a family friendly hotel close to the Mall. I was pleasantly surprised with how close it was as well as how well it accomodated families. We reserved under the Bed, Breakfast, and Beyond package which was definitely a great value. It provided myself and my husband with free breakfast each morning from a fabulous breakfast buffet. My younger daughter could eat free off the kid's menu or for a minimal price from the buffet. Plus, the package made our parking only $15 per day. Great convenience with a CVS and a Starbucks right next door. My only criticism is that the beds were only full size but I was informed that by 2014, a renovation within the hotel will change them to queen size. I had a great experience with all the staff that I came into contact with which made our stay all that much more pleasant. I definitely will stay there again next time we go to DC.

Apon check in my family noticed that the internet was not working. We were told by the front desk to keep refreshing our broswers to slove the problem. Well that did not work. After even trying to use the internet in the lobby we realized this was a hotel wide issue of bad internet service. After complaining again close to the end of our stay the front desk did call our room and try to meet with us about the problem but it was too late. After our return home the hotel did call and say they had a repairman come out to fix the problem and to broaden the band width. I hope future guests will not have the same problem I did.

I was in town for the Rock n Roll marathon. The location can't be beat. We were close to the start of the race and to all the must see sights in DC. There aren't many restauants in the area but its very close the metro and there is a Starbucks and restaurant onsite. The hotel is clean and was comfortable for a long weekend.

Enjoyable, comfortable leisure weekend. We didn't realize you need a reservation to eat in most 3/4/5 star restaurants in DC. So our first night there we decided to get a burger and beer, and were pleasantly surprised with Good food, good service. The breakfast buffet, the same results. Nice job!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disgusted101 Awful accomodations but a great front desk manager
I was in three rooms within the first couple of hours of checking in. The first room was incredibly noisy--the train outside of the window and the constant hum of machinery coming from somewhere in the building. The second (non-smoking) room had an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke coming from the vent --which could not be closed. The third room wasn't as noisy and didn't smell so I took a shower and got into bed. I tried to arrange for a wake up call but the phone didn't work. I later noticed that there were stains on the curtains and filth on the bedside lamp. I was exhausted and didn't want to keep hunting for a room. When I complained the next day, the front desk manager did everything he could to be accomodating but the damage was done. The manager said that they were due for rennovations. I wouldn't stay there again until after the rennovations are done.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by shari26 good location but no restaurants nearby.
good location - very close to smithsonian air and space museum but only one restaurant nearby. a french cafe called la vie de french. There was a quiznos, macdonald's and a starbucks but that was it. There was no breakfast included but there should be. Make sure to ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the trains...the trains are very noisy and we asked to switch rooms.

We chose this hotel because it was within walking distance to so many places to visit. The metro system is less than a few blocks away for travel to those places further away. The staff at the hotel and restaurant were very friendly. The room was cleaned nicelyl.
I will definately stay here again when I travel to D.C.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kathy95 Great location--terrible temp control in room
You can't beat the awesome location of the hotel. It is very close to the L'Enfant Metro station and practically next door to the Air and Space Museum. My son and I felt very safe walking to an from both places. We were very happy with the hotel staff, and the breakfast options are great through the restaurant or the Stabucks in the lobby. We were very pleased with the location and amenities.
I was somewhat surprised at the small size of the room and lack of space to luggage, and we had a very difficult time getting the temperature in the room in a comfortable range. No matter what we set the thermostat or how we adjusted the fan, the room maintained a VERY warm 75 degrees--a hot and very dry air temp even in February. The fan was EXTREMELY loud--hard to have a conversation or concentrate over it.
It would have been nice to have a safe in the room.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staceylynn0905 Decent accomodations, amenities...
The hotel is very convenient to my client. The gym leaves a bit to be desired, but is more robust than the typical hotel gym. The restaurants are good. The beds are ok. But everything is always very clean...the staff is pretty good and responsive. Overall, a very good place to stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by BoiseBusiness Great location for business on the hill and sight seeing
The hotel is in a great location for business on the Hill. It is within walking distance to the Department of Education, House and Senate Office Buildings. Hotel is only a block and a half from the L'Enfant metro stop making it easy to get to and from Reagan National and to various sights in town. Smithsonian Museums were within walking distance. I appreciated the convenient express meals for a quick bite to eat in the morning or a quick, reasonably priced lunch on the go. Service staff was great. My room was quiet -- not a lot of noise from other guests. Bed was a little firm for my liking. I would choose this hotel again when I have business in DC.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by navajostosh Favorite hotel, some disappointments
My favorite hotel in DC - very close to L'Enfant Plaza Metro, close to Air & Space Museum, and House Office Buildings. I did not have hot water my first morning. I would have appreciated a partial refund. It was fixed, but still not great. My room did not have a microwave as promised.
The Capitol Bistro no longer has a salad bar, which was a big disappointment.

I appreciated the fact that the Holiday Inn is located so close to the conference site. It made it very easy to get from place to place as needed. The room was great and always cleaned when I returned in the afternoon. I needed to check out a little later than noon and the staff were very accommodating. When I did check out around 12:30, I was able to store my luggage with the bellhop. We had a great stay and I would stay at the hotel again. Thank you.

I was delighted by the size of the bedroom and the bathroom. It was very spacious. And I like the fact they have spare toothpaste/toothbrush, razor and shaving creaming upon request. Other toiletries included shampoo/conditioner/lotion, shower cap, and a make-up remover towlet. Nice stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Loralynnb Close to Air and Space
We picked this hotel because it is so close to the Air and Space museum. It was only a two block walk. We arrived late with tired kids and the front desk staff was quick and very helpful. I do not like to stay above the third floor and they quickly moved our room from the ninth floor to the second floor. The kids ate free and the food was good. All in all a pleasent place to stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sastl Freight train outside my window
I arrived and checked in to my 6th floor room for a 5 day business trip. I was initially concerned about getting a room directly opposite the only elevator due to the noise but thought I would endure. The room had a strange gash cut diagonally in the ceiling from one corner to the other, the entire length of the room. I arrived late after a long cross-country flight and went to bed. Hours later I was awakened by a freight train screeching by just outside my window, horns and all! Amazing that they would give such a room to a business traveler, or anyone for that matter. The staff was pleasant about changing my room the next day but why put me through that? It wasn't cheap either. The coffee pot did not work and neither did the heat. Never again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Buckeye54 Stay at HI Capital for FS test
I was at your Hotel based on "the closest place to stay" while taking the Foreign Service test. This why I graded my experience as a 1 to 2 star
1. The faucet in the bathroom would not shut off, I had to reach up underneath the sink and turn the valve to turn the water off.
2. Excessive noise from trains, helicopters, etc
3. I requested a 5:30am wake up call and the phone rang at 5 am instead, I certainly could have used the extra sleep before the test.
4. I showed the front clerk the address where I needed to be the following morning and she said "I don't know, but the cab driver outside would". The Dept of State Annex where the FSO test is conducted is attached to your hotel!!!
I did not realize this until the cab driver drove around the block and charged me $15 for the ride.
Never again will I stay at this Holiday Inn,

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Theodore Convenient to Washington DC sights.
This hotel is convenient to Smithsonian and Capitol Hill. No good restaurants in the vicinity, though. Must take Metro to other locations for good food. Staff is responsive and courteous. Rooms comfortable, but not always quiet. Restaurant is good, salad bar very good. The hotel should do more for its Platinum rewards members There is no complimentary happy hour or breakfast for members. Most other chains do provide such amenities to members.
