Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Choice for your Williamsburg Trip Whether visiting Bush Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, Water Country, the outlets, William and Mary …. you have many hotels, motels, and timeshares to choose from. Location and Service can make a big difference in where is the best place to stay. Historic Gateway is on By-Bass Road so you are able to avoid some of the traffic, and you are a couple miles from the Historic Visitor Center. The staff at this property are exceptional. We interacted with Geoff and Kirk and found them to be personable and accommodating. Their attitude seems to permeate through the staff as well. Too many Holiday Inns are moving toward a cookie cutter “continental style” restaurant. Historic Gateway has not followed this flawed trend. Their restaurant Bistro 515 has a menu with options to meet your family’s needs. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The service was prompt and friendly. It seemed with every question Josh’s answer was “I can make that happen” Bistro is a hotel restaurant worth putting on your list, especially for that night you would rather not go back out. The rooms are spacious as well, and the HVAC regulates well too. Again kudos Geoff, Kirk, and Josh. Great choice for your next Williamsburg visit. March 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fabulous place to stay There are many choices in Williamsburg, but this has got to be the best deal around. The room was spacious, the hotel was spotless, the staff was courteous, the price was fantastic (AAA rate). Breakfast in the restaurant was very good, a tad pricey, but still worth it. The ONLY complaint is the black out curtains do not stay shut. It would be nice if a hotel (any hotel) could make their black out curtains overlap instead of meeting in the middle. That crack of light is so annoying and seems to pierce the eyes as soon as it gets light. We solved the problem by making the curtains overlap then holding them down with some books. If hotels could provide a clip to keep them shut, people would be very grateful (at least these people). March 23, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Double-charged for room - Beware I used my brother's travel points for this room and they still charged me for the room. I stopped at the desk on my way out to ask about the charge on the receipt (shoved under me door) and I was told that that wasn't the "real receipt". So, I leave with a new receipt and then check my statement when I get home only to find out that they charged me for the room per the original receipt!! I then call to get it fixed and I get push-back from Latasha saying that they didn't charge me for the room. I am sure that the first receipt was put through onto my card and there is probably a credit coming, but now I have to spend more time ironing this out. I have to wait for the manager (Kirk) to call me back. I don't recommend this place to anyone, but want to give a shout-out to Josh in the bar. Great service there. March 22, 2015

He took time to help us find restaurants on a map, gave us a very good summary of the local attractions, and assisted us in lengthening our reservation with a great attitude. All the staff that we dealt with was excellent. We definitely will return and advise our friends and family of this great property! March 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Superior experience! EVERYTHING about our stay at this hotel was wonderful! We were greeted by Geoff, the general manager, and two pleasant young women. Each time we left and returned, we were greeted by the staff at the desk! We asked for and received dining recommendations for local (not chain) restaurants. Both recommended restaurants were delicious! The hotel was clean and modern. Our room, a suite, was spotless and well appointed. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was great and the server was efficient and pleasant. Overall, my husband and I agree that this was one of our most pleasant hotel experiences ever, due to the condition of the hotel and, most important, the pleasant demeanor of each and every staff member! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lighting -which affected our overall marking I have absolutely no complaint re the Hotel, staff , food etc But I feel very strongly - and we travel a great deal -world wide - that somehow, you may have changed your lighting strategy; to use cheaper, long life light bulbs, or whatever, but the first impression which and continued throughout our stay, was the absolute "gloom" the lighting gave the room. Once we put the lamps on it slightly improved - but overall it felt gloomy and miserable - and its so important that lighting enhances a room, not making it " almost furtive". Additionally, it was no that easy to read unless we pulled our lamps closer to us when in bed reading. Please consider this one fault - but a very important one. Seeing question below I wish I had taken photos of the gloomy room! March 16, 2015
