Nice facilities, clean, all the proper amenities, good location for Williamsburg. But I am unable to recommend this property due to a couple of bizarre policies/situations that I experienced. Those policies, which I have never experienced at any other lodging establishment, did not make me feel welcome at this establishment.

We booked a suite because we had a non-family member foreign national with us. The 3 rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable. The pull-out sofa bed was uncomfortable, but we only used it to lounge and watch TV together anyway. My only other room issue was the lack of a dedicated computer desk (there was a table), where one could work...the space was certainly large enough.
Housekeeping did a great job and was unobtrusive.
Kirk at the front was friendly, talkative and informative.
Valentine made us feel right at home in the bar\restaurant area, being friendly, efficient, and attentive to our needs.
The bartender was from Turkey and was most accommodating and knowledgeable. He was friendly and talkative. My main issue with the bar was a lack of fruit garnishes.
I spoke with the manager informally and he was as open and friendly as his staff. He listened attentively to my minor issues and we discussed solutions.
The property is quiet, convenient to all attractions, with adequate parking, and good facilities. A very good value!

Checked in and were informed that the room with two queen beds that I'd requested would not be availabel until the following day. Okay. Went down to the desk the next day and Deidre took care of averything! The stay was excellent, the room, fantastic and my family and I had a wonderful stay and look forward to our next one.

Stay was 17-19 May 2013. 2 Queen Beds Suite Nonsmoking. Bypass Rd is a great location. It runs into Richmond Rd which has stores, eating, etc.. that you might want to get to. The road has a lot of new hotels on it and the area is nice and clean. You will feel safe in this area. The hotel was great. Staff was friendly, property is kept up, and the Bistro 515 located inside the hotel has excellent food. The rooms are nicely decorated and pretty much very clean. A few things I put down on my checkout sheet with management but they are minor. I did not have to break out my cleaning spray for anything. You can tell they make great efforts to keep the property and rooms up. The lobby and restaurant are modern in their decorations and very nice. Although I did not go swimming or use the gym, both areas were clean. 7-11 is directly across the street from the hotel.
Bistro 515 is located inside the Holiday Inn Gateway. The food was excellent. I had the Teriyaki Chicken with a nice glass of wine and was in heaven. Meat was so tender I felt it melted in my mouth. I sat at the bar with the big flat screen TV and chatted with another patron who came for an appetizer (potato skins) and a scotch before going to the 50th high school reunion at the hotel, and the bartender we had. A very lovely young lady. There were little flat screen TVs in the booths which I imagine would keep any child quiet or help with a boring conversation or keep folks from missing a show that was already started in the room. You can hear yourself talk and others talking to you, there was not the loud noise that you experience in other places. To me the prices are reasonable and I never mind spending good money for great food. I also post my reviews on TripAdvisor along with pictures.

This is my second stay at this Holiday Inn. I do like this hotel and last time gave it five stars. Unfortunately, I can't give it more than four stars this time. First, let me say that Kirk at the front desk remains a tremendous asset to this hotel. He is friendly, knowledgeable, and consistently helpful. The room was comfortable and roomy, and the hotel is conveniently located. The deficiency this visit was the housekeeping. They did a barely adequate job and overlooked several small, but important parts of their job - like leaving coffee for the next morning! In my opinion, the quality of the housekeeping is a huge part of what makes a hotel experience pleasurable (or not) and this time I found it lacking. Hopefully, this is a temporary blip for an otherwise good hotel.

Stayed here in May 2013 for an anniversary getaway and was very pleased and impressed with the cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the entire property. The room was re-made each day with care, the hallways clean throughout, and the pool area was very well-kept as well. Front desk staff were very pleasant, courteous, and attentive as well. Overall well done!
Will definitely stay here the next time we're in Williamsburg!

We were in a group of 6 people traveling the east cost visiting many historical places and stumbled upon this Hotel. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the food was very good.

The staff was helpful, the room sparkling clean and nicely decorated, the large screen tv great. The restaurant and bar was a plus after a long day walking the old city.
The ONLY complaint I could make is that the power assist toilet in the bathroom was incredibly loud when flushed..
We would stay here again without question!!

pillows labeled soft were the exact same construction as all the others.
Noisy hotel (could hear other people using bathrooms)!!!!!!!!
No folio under door in the morning for checkout...
Front Desk people so distracted I wasn't even offered a folio upon checkout.
Its been 2 weeks of trying and I still don't have my receipt!
No access to an electronic folio (I get one emailed to me right after my stay with other hotel chains)
I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!

friendly. Close to William and Mary. Rooms are very clean.
Suggest the Hotel have coffee for guest downstairs in the lobby. Maybe have fresh apples for those who might need a snack. Thanks

We had excellent service in this hotel. Jxx at the front desk was funny and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant our first night and Bxxx was a great waiter. Our last morning we ate in the restaurant and they had one lady waiting tables. When we got there only 3 tables had customers but she couldn't remember what people ordered or if they had ordered, what drinks they had or if they had ordered drinks. We ate breakfast but it was a chore even to pay the bill. We wanted to warn the folks coming into eat. One couple ended up leaving. It is a comfortable hotel but they need to do something about the breakfast staff.

I always read the reviews before I travel, but have never taken the time to write one myself. I was so impressed with this hotel, that I feel compelled to do so.
When I made the reservation, I inquired about a package to decorate the room for my sons ninth birthday. (We were going to Williamsburg for the sole purpose of visiting Busch Gardens), I was informed that the hotel didn't offer such services, but the staff would do something special for him. That they did!!! Not only did they upgrade our room, they decorated it with a ton of balloons and Happy Birthday cutouts on the way. Someone spent alot of time preparing this. The staff made of point of telling my son Happy Birthday every time they saw him. Everything was top notch. Room was spacious, comfortable, and most importantly clean. I am sure other hotels can offer the three items listed above, but with the professionalism and kindness of the staff, I highly recommend this hotel.

Holiday Inn should clone Jan (staff member at this hotel) and send the clones out to other locations in need of improving their customer service. She was incredible. We are Platinum level Priority Club members and stay at Holiday Inn just about whenever we travel. When we arrived at the hotel we learned that there were no cookies. My wife thinks cookies are one of the four major food groups and expressed her disappointment. We went to dinner at an excellent restaurant that Jan recommended and returned to fresh baked cookies! She had the kitchen staff whip them up while we were gone. The next day she had brownies fresh from the open waiting for us. She provided restaurant menus, driving directions and seemed to always be there whenever we had a need. She was great! The suite we had was also clean and comfortable, but for this stay it was all about Jan!

This was a most delightful time for me and my family. Jan made it very special. She arranged a special suite with an adjoining room When we entered the room she had a room full of balloons celebrating the occasion. The children loved it and so did I. The food was good and the chef went out of his way to get all of the breakfast food we would like. Even a celebration fried cheescake. The rooms were immaculate and the beds so comfortable. We felt pampered by Jan and her staff. Will return when we get another chance.

We travel a lot and are Platinum Holiday Inn members! With that said, this is one of the nicest Holiday Inns we have ever seen! It is IMMACULATE! The whole hotel is spotless from the pool which is perfectly balanced to the room! The décor is beautiful!! The food was so good we ate breakfast and dinner twice and we only stayed 2 nights! Oh and if u have kid's, there is a television at the table and kid's eat free plus get ice cream. Our server Josh was awesome, and the food was YUMMY!!! We will definitely come back and stay again. I highly recommend this gorgeous hotel! Cleanest place I have ever seen! Oh and a great location to everything! Staff is very friendly and helpful! BEST HOTEL we have EVER stayed in! :)

From the moment we arrived where we met the wonderful staff at the front desk we had a great experience.
Beds were very comfortable, although one was a bit firmer than the other. Also, you had your choice of pillows, soft or firm which was interesting.
The only thing I did not like was the lighting from the CFL bulbs which I find harsh on the eyes. I understand the CFL bulbs are energy efficient but, I still don't like them

we had a lovely stay, and it was very convenient to the sights of Williamsburg, restaurants, outlets, etc. Our only issue was that the weekend breakfast buffet area seemed understaffed - the tables were slow to be turned over, and the food was replenished slowly. Since the breakfast at Holiday Inn is not included, I'd expect more from a meal for which I paid 35 dollars ! The lobby and check in experience was great, and the rooms were large and comfortable. I would go back, but plan to eat elsewhere.

I chose this hotel because it looked and seemed as if there was plenty of room for 5 people in the suite. It was extremely small; yes there were 2 rooms (bedroom and living area) but the living area is tiny. We have 3 teenage boys so it was a very tight squeeze. I could live with that; the real problem was the beds. For what we paid a night, I would think we'd have a decent bed; however, that was not the case -- the mattresses are a joke. I have an excellent back; never have any problems. I felt like a pretzel every morning getting out of those beds. I've never slept in a bed that was so uncomfortable. As far as the pool, it was just OK. I tried using the gym but they had the temperature way past 70 degrees, I couldn't breathe. Not the best place to stay.
With that said, the staff were very nice and friendly.

My stay at the hotel was great! Very friendly staff at the front desk. I'm a member of their priority club so I got a snack upon check in & a free appetizer in the bar downstairs. Bed was comfortable,vroom was clean. I was also upgraded to a suite "just because. I will definitely continue to use this chain

If you are visiting Colonial Williamsburg this is THE place to stay! The front desk staff are extremely knowledgeable of the area and always ready with a recommendation on where to eat, what to do, and things to see. The rooms are great and the hotel is very clean and well managed! Excellent for kids!! The restaurant is superb, especially the breakfast buffet and the made to order omelets! Next time we are in southern Virginia this is where we will stay.
