Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jarvis2013 Hotel - Great however badly let down by very poor Airport Transfer Service
Park & Fly Package booked. Our experience of the actual Holiday Inn hotel was very good, however the transport to and from the airport was horrible.
Room clean and comfortable for the one night stay, hotel staff efficient, friendly and helpful - brilliant.
Food in restaurant - excellent.
The one big let down for this experience for us was the awful transfer process on our return. We arrived back to the UK on time and promptly collected our luggage calling the taxi firm (Club Cars) as per instructions as soon as we had our luggage. We were given directions to the collection point which took us all round the airport and told next collection was not for 45 mins - strangely. As we arrived at the collection point, a Club Cars bus pulled away.
We ended up waiting just under an hour to be collected - outside the terminal 1 building, freezing. A mini bus turned up eventually, the driver making no attempt to get out of the bus. We knocked on the window of the bus to be welcomed with an exasperated sigh from the driver - yes, he was there o collect us. After nearly an hour wait, we stopped at another drop off point while the driver chatted to a colleague driver leaving the bus door open.
All in all, hotel great but transfer service, disgusting - meaning as frequent travellers from Manchester, we would definitely choose another hotel next time, let down by airport transfer process.
We are regular visitors to Holiday Inn Hotels, both in this country and in USA.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chris56 2 day relaxing break
We have stayed at this hotel many times before. The hotel is situate in nice grounds, has excellent leisure club facilities, nice rooms with comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, and good evening meals. The staff are helpful and pleasant and check in is quick and efficient. We often use the stay park and fly facility before travelling abroad, and also often stay the night when we return. On this occasion we just booked 2 nights bed and breakfast for a relaxing weekend break for my birthday. We find the hotel good value for money and overall enjoy staying there.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fandangman Near Christmas stay
I stay here on occasion as I have an office a few miles away and its facilities are better than the other airport hotels, as this has a pool and gym. Staying on 20/21 December, I expected the place to be full of Christmas parties but apparently that had been the night before so thankfully it was peaceful and in fact much quieter than during the summer (for obvious reasons). Staff were polite although not over friendly for a hotel in the North. I didnt eat here in the evening but the breakfast was adequate, nothing special, a self service cooked breakfast with continental options. I would stay here again for business - not sure I would stay here if flying from Manchester though as there are many onsite hotels to choose from.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nwaddrof Comfortable and friendly but expensive food
* Staff on reception very welcoming, friendly and helpful.
* Bed and room comfortable, although family room cramped when sofa bed opened for the children. But we were only staying one night so it was absolutely fine.
* Bathroom clean and shower quite good. No toiletries though so don't forget your shower gel.
* We ate in the bar/lounge area for dinner, which was comfortable and relaxing. However the food was VERY expensive, especially the sides. My chicken, bacon & mozzerella panini was £7.95 and was not great. It only had 3 tiny pieces on chicken, one small slice of streaky bacon and a bit of cheese so it was pretty dry as it was mostly bread. This was bad enough, but a side of chips was £3.25! And it was the smallest bowl of chips I've ever seen. They were very good chips, but must have cost about 25p per chip :0( That said, my parents-in-law ordered the BLT which they said, and it looked, much better.
* The shuttle bus to the airport was 10 mins late and took around 15 mins as stated on the hotel information. However, that was at 06:30 on a Sunday morning so I would definitely allow extra time if you're travelling during the day.
* Overall a good stay and we booked very early so got the room including a weeks parking and the airport shuttle bus for just £49 so excellent value room wise. Maybe just plan ahead and eat out :0)

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bryan27 Over priced food and drink and poor shower
Positive - Friendly and very helpful reception staff, and the quick priority club check in
Negative - The room the shower was pathetic for the standard of room that we had booked, and the bathroom was in need of some maintenance and repair. The hotel bar food and drinks were way over priced.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Lau10000006 Ok for a night
I stayed here last year and had quite a large room on the ground floor. The swimming pool was lovely and the free shuttle to the airport made it great value for money. Last week we stayed for 2 days on the second floor. The carpet was stained and the walls were paper thin so that we got very little sleep on the first night (the tv from the room next door meant we could hum along to the x-mas tunes they were playing until 1am. The lady with the coughing fit in the other room beside us sounded like she was in our room. You could hear the toilets from the other rooms. The curtains were stained as was one of the pillows (although we did get 4 of them so could cope easily without the dirty one. My partner got a splinter from the bathroom door when first opening it as it swung off the rails. The free shuttle bus doesn't exist anymore and it cost £16 each way, per person to the airport. I don't know why people would stay here now rather than a Manchester hotel as there's nothing much to do in walking distance although easy to drive into town if you're not planning on drinking. The receptionist suggested a taxi was much cheaper. I asked for chilli con carne in the bar and asked if ok to swap the potato for rice. Was told yes. Was expecting the price on the bar menu £8 and was charged £12-room service rates. Contested this but said rice only came as a 'room package meal' and I'd get nachos and naan bread with it. When it came and I'd already paid, i got 6, dry, salted nacho crisps and was then told by the waitress that she'd been mistaken and there wasn't any naan bread. For the quality and quantity I wasn't happy- the bummers was £4.50 so £17 for a bar meal wasn't worth it at all. It cost £3.50 for a cappuccino but that tasted nice.

My recent stay was ok but was a little dissapoiinted when I was told I had been upgraded to a king room to find that the room wasn't that much different to what I had stayed in before when no upgrade had been available. The room was ok but did need a little more attention when being cleaned as behind the sofa and at the sides there was peanuts lying around and also one of the lamps above the bed had no bulb.My second problem was when going down for breakfast there was no one available so I was left to my own devices I was looking to request some coffee and better cooked sausages but there was nobody around.Has a platinum card holder I do enjoy holiday inn and partners nd am looking at the crown plaza in lax later in the year please don't let the usual high standards down just a little more attention to detail and the hotel would be fine

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by sleepyandgrumpy Nice restaurant but impossible to sleep
Hotel has many good points.
Restaurant service is excellent.
Reception is usually polite and efficient.
Parking is excellent.
On this occasion though we were allocated a room next to the function room and as the night wore on the music got louder and louder (after 1.00am).
Not good preparation for an early morning flight!
Also not good to be told by the duty manager next morning that we had requested this room? Apparently this was a priority club room so if you are a priority club member and intend staying at this hotel it would be worthwhile checking in advance where your room is. We were not the only people complaining at check-out.

we had a good relaxing stay, food was great, staff very helpful & friendly, the only problem we had was the room was a small for 3 of us, we had our disabled son in with us & they gave us a king & double sofa bed so not much room to move about, apart from that it was a brill stay.

We arrived early because we were going to watch Manchester United, and we wished to locate the hotel first. I went to reception and made myself known to the staff. The receptionist was so helpful, and informed us our room was ready if we wanted to check in immediately.
The room was large and very comfortable. We arrived back early evening, and reserved a table in the restaurant, where we both enjoyed a lovely meal with wine, that was real value for money.
This was a lovely weekend, and we will definitely be back, and would throughly recommend this venue for the airport.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Idon Long waiting times and disproportional cost for each extra service
It is not the first time I stayed in this hotel, but it never feels comfortable. Either the amount of the bill is not ok, either the priority number is not booked in, I even got somebody elses invoice the last time. To get the correct one by email, I had to wait for 5 days!.
An evening internet costs 10£ and the airport service is even more expensive than ordering a taxi.
The hotel is not worth the money.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by FionaH Lovely Hotel but cold bedroom
was delighted at this hotel, very nice good value for money etc until we stayed in our room. There wasn't any heating as such only a single pipe running through the room underneath the radiator (which apparently is switched off in case of children, we didn't have any with us) The aircon unit/heater didn't blow hot air so was useless although it didn't say this anywhere in the room that it did not work. I had to watch tv in the room fully clothed under the duvet but was still cold. I then went to reception who told me there wasn't 'any more' heaters to give out which lead me to believe our room wasn't the only one that was cold but they did deliver 2 blankets which we had to use all night to keep warm. We have not received any further apology or reduction to the cost.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mazzie excellent all round service
Stayed here for a wedding a few weeks ago, from the moment we checked in till the following morning when we left we had excellent service from all members of staff we encountered. The room was wonderful its was a kingsize so was nice and roomy, and considering the hotel is off quite a busy road and close to Manchester airport , there was no problem with noise. The bed was comfy and we had a good nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was good there was plenty to choose from and it was hot and well cooked. We have never stayed in a Holiday Inn before, and would recommend them to anyone. We ourselves are off to try another one at New Year and hope to find the experience just as good.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by marionc Welcoming. very clean, efficient and pleasant staff, spacious rooms
This is a very pleasant hotel in which to spend a night or two. The service of all the staff is excellent, the rooms are spacious and the bathroom has everything that is needed. The park-and stay package made things so very easy for us, and we would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling from Manchester airport. The food in the restaurant was very good indeed, both for dinner and breakfast.
The only adverse comment (and this is being very critical) is that the duvets on the single beds were rather small and a spare blanket in the room would have been welcome as it was a very cold night

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Kizzy30 No alarm call/ No apology
Second stay and park at this hotel as impressed with the first. However, a mix up witht the internet booking led to the receptionist requesting a further £12 per day for parking. I explained that there had been a problem and she eventually offered the parking for a further £22 (This still meant I payed over £80 much more than previous stay) She was very patronising and informed me that I should realise that she didn't have to offer the lower price. Requested alarm call (written on booking sheet) as am flight but I am still awaiting this. Told the receptionist as rushing to catch cab the next day she just shrugged and offered no apology or explanation. Very disappointed re this stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JamakO Great hotel but not really business friendly
I stayed at this hotel during a business trip to the NW. Although I will definitely use it again, one criticism is that there are no irons in the bedrooms (you can request one from housekeeping). I travel on business a lot and easy access to an iron is essential. Also, Holiday Inn have stopped biscuits in the rooms (!!) which seems a little petty.
That said, this particular hotel is really nice. The food is better than most Holiday Inns I have stayed at and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely stay there next time I am in the NW.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Carla1204 Excellent room
We stayed here after a week in Kos, we had parked the car the week before and stayed on our return. The car parking is self explanatory and there is a very easy to follow system in place. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially on our return, as we didn't arrive at the hotel until 2am. Check in was easy and there was someone available to help with our luggage, which was a relief as we had to go upstairs with 4 suitcases, 4 lots of hand luggage and a baby!! There are no lifts that I could see, but this really was no problem. The room was large, the beds were comfortable and most importantly the room was lovely and warm. There was no noise that filtered into the room from other guests and we slept very well. The bathroom was clean but the shower did seem a little fiddly and it took me a while to figure it out!! An overall excellent experience :)

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sarahc1 Very poor staff service
We handmade the booking on line for 2rooms one for the kids one for us. It turned out we were booked for 2 rooms each with 4 people in. No attempt was made to try and alter the situation which saw us all in one room for the night. The manager was who we were dealing with and she made no attempt to try and make things better blaming us for the booking error without looking in to it. When we later needed the use of a scanner again though the hotel has not got one no attempt to try and help find one was made. Very poor service from a company we have stayed with all over the world because we hAve found staff so accommodating especially traveling with children. Not at this one though.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by shinycarot2 Nothing special
I stayed here for 4 nights for business in October. Check in: was fairly smooth but my room had a musty smell. It was alos quite tired and in need of an update. The TV in particular was ancient and was quite fuzzy. The bathroom was okay with a decent shower above the bath.
Internet is expensive and very slow even if you pay extra for the 'business' connection.
Breakfast is good once you sit down. Every morning it is a long wait if you do as requested and wait to be seated. It wasn't busy it was just that the staff are always in the kitchen. I would recommend that you sit down and let them take your details when they see you, otherwise you will waste a lot of time. The food itself was quite nice with a reasonable selection.
I did not eat in the restaurant but did order room service. The food was average. One night I ordered pizza which was like the type of pizza you get from a kebab shop, thick and very cheesy. I also ordered a rocket and parmesan salad which arrived with great thick slats of cheese. Another night I ordered a salad which was ok but the dressing wasn't mixed but simply balsamic vinegar and olive oil in a bowl. So with no way of shaking it you just poured olive oil on your saled whilst the balsamic stayed at the bottom of the bowl.
Overall, i was disapointed with this hotel. It needs updating and some care put into the food.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by PW21 Disappointig stay at Manchester Airport
I normally really enjoy my stays at Holiday Inn, I travel frequently ( am a priority club gold member) and always book Holiday Inns when there is a possible choice of hotels. On this occassion, I booked a stay fly package at the Manchester Airport HI - I wish I hadn't bothered!
Firstly, we could find the hotel on calling the front desk to ask for directions, the lady who answered was so rude. I was trying to ask for directions and she repeatedly just said the hotel is on the A559 - no good to me, I dont know the areas and haven't a clue where the A559 is!!!! After going round in circles ( and me not being any the wiser of the hotel location#, the front desk receptionist started to get quite rude and actually laughed with clear irritation in her voice - disappointingly when we finally got to the hotel it turned out that your rude employee was actually the night shift manager # female). She obviously realised that she had been rude as she suggested that it was actually ' guests' that I had heard laughing in 'the background', not her. Why lie? It was a silly thing to do becuase it was clearly her who had been rude on the phone....not proffessional and definately not acceptable!
The room was also a huge disappointment -very dated, tiny, dirty with a noisy aircon that didn't work.
On the plus side the transport service to the airport was excellent, driver on time, polite and proffessional.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Frosty23 Average experience
Myself and my partner stayed here last Saturday for a friends party. Upon arriving we had to wait a while to check in as there was only one staff member on reception. When we arrived at our room we thought it was quite nice. The bed was large and there was enough space in the room. It was decorated quite nicely as well and we were given tea and coffee. Also considering how close to the airport we was it was very quiet. We did not use the restaurant, although from what I saw it looked quite nice!
However we found that our bath had not been cleaned and there was a lot of hair in it which was rather unpleasant. Although when I reported this at reception a maid came and cleaned it for us. My only other complaint was that our bed was two twin beds zipped together. This would have been okay, however there was no padding over the zip which made it very uncomfortable to sleep on.

Room is in need of refurbishment--doors,etc are off-white-furniture is old and not in the best of condition. Tv did not work for both nights of our stay--no spare TV's either! Bed was massive and comfortable.Breakfast was very good with staff constantly topping up nearly empty bowls.
Staff were very friendly and helpfu, but no recognition as a priority club member
