I have been staying here with my husband over the years and each year has never disappointed. The room was clean and comfortable as always. We took advantage of the remodeled bar area. The menu was good and service was excellent. We were in time for happy hour so the food and drinks were about half price. The only thing was the fish to batter ratio in the fish n chips. That was the only downside to this stay.

They have tried to make an aged facility appealing. They did a good job.

Checking in the desk person checked me in and was advised I was upgraded to a suite (which was a standard room). I attempted to get into the room the key would not work. I called the front desk of the issue and was told to come back down to the desk. I requested a key be brought up to the room due to a knee injury I had. She came up with the correct key and I got into the room. Once settling down in the room another person came into the room, he was given a key to the room I was in by the same girl at the desk. I called the front desk advising of the issue, the same girl was confused and put me on hold numerous times, she advised me she was a new employee. Eventually she got me into the room I was supposed to have, she was clearly upset.
no follow up occurred after this issue , I advised Customer service with IHG and I got a call from a lady who identified herself the hotel manager, she told me the night auditor told her to call me because I had an issue, Note 3 days after this issue, When I answered I asked her if she was aware as to what the issue was, she indicated she did not, I advised her to read my write up prior to giving me a cold phone call, I then called the hotel back and asked who was the manager there and was given a gentleman’s name so clearly she was misrepresenting herself. Later today I got a message from gentlemen who identified himself as the hotel manager and for me to call him back. He advised he just learned of the issue 3 days after the fact.
WE all who travel can make decisions where we stay I have to feel comfortable and safe in the environment I am staying in I cannot say I will be back to this facility after the experience the desk attempted to cover up the error instead of using it as a learning / training opportunity
