I booked the room for my best friend and I to escape from the men in our lives for 24 hours, we checked in and the reception staff were exceptional and informative and checked if we had booked for dinner, (knowing the reputation of the restaurant I had booked 4 weeks earlier but it was lovely that they checked) We relaxed in our room and watched a movie (great selection) ate chocolate, drank tea and just generally relaxed, we then arranged to meet a couple of friends in the bar at 4pm and had a wonderful experience, the bar staff were also exceptional and very helpful but not in your face constantly nagging you to have more drinks! We had a lovely afternoon and the atmosphere was lovely and both the outside and inside were buzzing with people relaxing and enjoying themselves, we then retired to our room to get ready for dinner, now this is where it went a bit array, having booked our table 4 weeks earlier it was not ready and we were directed to wait in the bar (no free drink offered or anything, little disappointing if we had perhaps been offered a drink we might have been a bit happier to wait the 20 minutes) We finally got a table at 8.20pm and ordered very quickly as we were starving, we asked for the solstice burger as we thought that would be quite quick, an hour later we were still waiting and our bottle of wine was finished and we were feeling a bit lighted headed had to ask 2 waiters where our food was, and it finally came out, I have to say it was fantastic when it finally arrived and would strongly recommend this, even an American would have been proud of that burger!! The restaurant experience was very disappointing, I have told everyone about our stay and will definitely be doing it again however we may eat out next time having had this experience. Having had this experience in the restaurant we decided to have breakfast in our room which was again outstanding, prompt and everything it promised to be, one thing to warn people if you choose the full English don't forget to order toast we just assumed it would come with what we ordered but it doesn't you have to stipulate, I've got to say it was so scrummy I didn't actually miss the toast. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceeded expectations Trip was to take granddaughter to Stonehenge and Salisbury. Having read reviews expected good hotel but was better than expected. Very close to both places we wished to visit. Easily found and easy to park. Room was comfortable, clean and well presented. Food in the restaurant was excellent as was the service at the front desk and in the dining room. Certainly the best Holiday Inn we have stayed in would certainly recommend the hotel to others. Our granddaughter was fascinated with the nearby "dragonfly" . June 7, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Platinum member not Silver! The hotel is close to the a303 dual carriageway at amesbury, in a service area. I stayed as it was close to work. I stayed on my points. I was greeted warmly and then it went downhill. The person told me as a silver member they only provide a free drink from the bar or Starbucks coffee when you buy a full meal or when you pay for breakfast. Holiday inns elsewhere give points or vouchers and free drinks stuff to platinum members. The lady said as I was only a silver member and staying on points, there was no upgrade. She then went into the sales patter about breakfast, so I asked for the voucher to be added to the bill. I then expected to be asked to have an authorisation on my card. But no as a points customer I was told I would have to pay for each item separately. I am a platinum member! Silver membership does not exist. I had booked a large room so I expected a lot but when I opened the door I was disappointed. The curtains were drawn which seemed odd, so I opened them and found a metre by metre window sealed so you couldn't open it, yet there was aircon. The room was small with large mirrors on one wall. I have had bigger rooms in expresses. I went into the bathroom it looked fine but no heated towel rail. I went to use the toilet and there was tissues down it. I had a proper look around the carpet looked like had not been vacuumed and there was rubbish under the bed. As it was a Sunday night I decided that the chance of getting it sorted was nil so I put up with it. This hotel has gone Eco friendly the shower was lack lustre due to Eco shower head, I like a nice strong massaging shower, no chance here the water seems to mixed with air and there is no pressure. When you get out the towels are cold as no towel rail. Breakfast was dis organised, seated great tea or coffee fine, then told they have a buffet and its over there. No one was filling the buffet up so no Danishes or croissants. I asked the chef for some poached eggs and then a waitress told me that was her job. I was instructed to toast my bread and then give her the plate and she would order the eggs. Great hot eggs cold toast. I assume Eco applies to their food as well, the eggs were extra small. Check out was smooth, I was asked where I was off to next told them and they said never heard of it, the biggest employer within a 2 mile radius and built the Modern art by the hotel. I told the girl and she said oh the RAF base up the hill. It stopped being a RAF station a good 10 years ago. Great local knowledge. I often use my points to try somewhere new before giving them proper business. June 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Stay Second time of staying here and another good stay , food quality and service very good . Good check-in experience and exec rooms still look fresh . Bit of cost cutting seems to be going on with the tolietries etc shampoo and one shower gel between two people no body lotion and those towels certainly seem smaller . Overall good but please stop scrimping .....if I pay for an exec room come on deliver the extras . I also booked a standard room for my father-in-law and his toletries were identical for one person . Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Five star experience Though deep in England, my room's design had a European feel. I loved the shape and the cinema-surround curtains. Good, firm bed too and a bathroom space-wise that was more five star than four - all it needed were some slippers and a robe. The overall experience was well above average for Holiday Inn - in fact it does not compare as this hotel is in a class of its own. I found it more relaxing by far than the most recent super spa five star hotel I stayed in. Well done! May 28, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very modern and good looking hotel. Wicked looking hotel and very easy to find just outside town - very close to Stonehenge so ideal for tourists. Great restaurant choices and bar too but if for some strange reason the menu doesn't impress, then you have multiple other food outlets within a 2 minute walk. They recognised my status and upgraded me to a lovely Executive Room with a great view of the countryside from the huge bedroom/lounge windows. Staff very efficient all round. Rooms are great quality, spacious and comfortable, with firm/soft sides of the mattress & firm/soft pillows. Free WiFi in the reception area is very helpful too. Recommended! May 17, 2013

Choice wa ok but we have had better at other budget hotels. But it was ok as a location for the area and we may use it again . May 12, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Modern hotel & great features Stayed here Easter 2013 travelling back up North after visiting relatives in Devon, 1 night stopover before going to Stonehenge in the morning. Arrived approx 9pm, check in quick & given the option for a late checkout (2pm) as priority club member, however 12 noon was quite sufficient. Our room was on the third floor and was very spacious, modern & clean. The only thing I would recommend is a fridge in the room. The bathroom was excellent, very modern features with enough room to swing a cat in the shower, which was powerful & nice & hot. The food is served until 10.30 in the evening, quality is good but maybe just slightly overpriced. The breakfast was very good - the tall man with brown hair was very attentive to us & even offered me ice for my fruit juice! - 5 star service. I would definately return to this hotel. The public areas, were all clean and the staff could not be more pleasant and helpful no matter what time of day or night it was. The service was second to done along with the food. Excellent. From the very outset the experience was good, upon arrival we were dealt with efficiently and politely. Our room was neat and tidy containing everything required for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Prior to leaving I thanked both the restaurant and reception staff for there care and consideration which made our stay most enjoyable. I believe in speaking honestly and giving praise when due, so, on that basis we will certainly be using Holiday Inns in the future. April 7, 2013

Room even upgrade was disappointing,bath mat thread bare,shower system not functioning properly,air conditioning did not work properly so frozen,no extra blankets,duvet thin and short so impossible to pull up.For the price Holiday Inn Express exceeds this hotel in my opinion. Restaurant staffed by some arrogant staff with little knowledge of the job,politeness,timeliness more interested in running their own discussions,breakfast was a farce, restaurant manager told me my name was wrong...who does the name belong too?Table was dirty, selections missing. I complained to resident front desk manager given £25 discount, so I have paid for the pleasure of elevated expectation but a miserable low value stay. Conclusion as a Platinum member needs to do seriously better and management needs a good shake up. March 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A relaxing stay. My husband, 16yr old son and I stayed one night here. Our room was big enough for the three of us, our son sleeping on the made up sofa bed. The room was clean, adequately heated, (which was necessary as the weather was dreadful during our stay). Complimentary tea and coffee plus toiletries are all available in the room. The staff were extremely efficient and polite from start to finish and check in was extremely quick. What did we like best? : great shower, comfortable double bed and very quiet , we slept soundly. What didn't we like: Paying extra for internet in our room, (as having stayed in Holiday inns abroad this is included if you are a priority club member), the sofa bed was a little worn which meant a very thin mattress and the iron bars of the frame, could be felt through it. I would happily stay here again , location is great, staff are great but breakfast lacked that wow factor. Our breakfast was included in our room rate, our sons we paid £9.95 for. The eggs were luke warm, bacon so crispy it could not be cut,, tomatoes so dry there was nothing in the middle. Pot of tea ample but only one mug of coffee offered. A coffee/tea machine would reduce waste and give people the choice of how many cups they required and what sort of coffee (again we had this in Holiday inn's abroad). The breakfast is self service so getting up to get a drink would make no difference. Your breakfast let you down. Sorry! March 11, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holiday Inn Salisbury – Stonehenge which was a fab little stay For the purpose of my review bias, for the last 10 years I have stayed approximately 100 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain. This was my first stay at this hotel the Holiday Inn Salisbury – Stonehenge which was a fab little stay My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows: 1) Arrival is easy using the supplied Sat Nav and post code address instructions. 2) On arrival at the hotel the check in staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. In particular on checking in on the evening of 28/2/13 one lady (they lady explained she was an ex-model if this helps locate her, I did write down her name but have subsequently lost the paper on which I wrote it) was particularly friendly and engaging and a pleasure to talk with and a real credit to Holiday Inn. 3) On arrival as a Holiday Inn Platinum Priority Club member , the said above check in lady, instantly upgraded me to a executive room at no extra cost which can be a hit or miss affair within the chain in general. 4) The reception area is the typical open plan area leading to the bar, breakfast/ dining areas which were always well kept, tidy and clean and of a modern styling 5) All area’s including the bedrooms where always well kept, tidy and clean. 6) The rooms are exactly what you would expect from a Holiday Inn chain brand see the attached photos and where of good quality. 7) Free WiFi is available in the bar area 8) I’m not usually a fan of the relatively expensive breakfast, however here things were OK ish not as good as my recent stay at Brentford-Lock Holiday Inn but readily acceptable. 9) Check out, was a pain free process with the helpful staff on hand, in summary the hotel scores 4.0/5 for an above average hotel with great staff who where helpful and of great credit to the hotel .
