Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Modern hotel, easy to find. Friendly reception received by staff. Quick check in and free parking. About 7 mins drive from Winchester City Centre. No swimming pool (thanks to Winchester Council). Rooms are spacious and well equipped. The bar area is quite basic and whilst comfortable has no atmosphere. Bar food is quite good but we were disappointed with the a la carte dinner. Expensive for the size of the portion, crispy bacon was black - even the waitress couldn't recognise it and the lobster risotto was lacking lobster and cheese! We did mention these issues at the time but no discount was offered. Apart from the dinner, the hotel is comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. November 24, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice new hotel First time stay at this Holiday Inn, looks great from the outside and the lobby area is very impressive. Room was modern and clean and the heating and air con worked fine For a new hotel I was surprised to find the shower thermostat not working properly, and the towel shelf coming away from the wall, must have been the same bish bash bosh contractors that have recently refurbished Wakefield. And which giant decided on the height of the wash basin? A big gripe for me is that the bedroom windows don't open, it made for a very stuffy night. Had drinks in the bar around 11pm, service was indifferent despite there being four staff milling around, spent the time looking at a load of dirty glasses that none of them wanted to deal with. Breakfast was good, front desk staff were excellent. Overall a good stay let down by a couple of bedroom niggles and poor bar service. November 24, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Marv nottingham Comfortable and clean, the room heating air conditioning was good and kept the room warm but comfortable temperature the public areas are airy and have a calm and clean ambience The food is good quality but a little limited in variety My only real gripe is the slow and outdated tv channel selection where you have to go through several screens to get to choose a tv channel Parking is easy and ample for all guests November 24, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by A good stay......eventually For reasons that were not explained we were placed in room 259 which was in close proximity to a wedding reception and disco! Given that our booking was made in August and that we are IHG Rewards Club members I was not impressed with this treatment and so have marked low on some categories. We spoke to Reception and were then moved to a 'disabled' room far from the noise. It was however an unnecessary upheaval and will ensure that we look elsewhere when cruising from Southampton next year. November 23, 2015
