The Pirates' Cove playland is a fantastic environment for the children to burn off the extra energy that mey be left over after using the large pool, which is in a wonderful and clean agora, for all guests to use and have a snack. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Honoring Discounts It is my hope that this location would train all of their desk staff on all valid discount members. At first, I called and the desk clerk told me that my discount was not valid for the weekend I stayed. I called my union rep to look into it. She spoke with the manager who told her for me to book it online. Low and behold, upon my arrival, I had to show my discount card and the fax from this manager to get my discount. They also told me that booking online was not the right avenue to go to obtain my discount. I was only following the directions of this location manager. This was frustrating and will most likely not be staying there anytime soon. April 11, 2013

I spend lots of time in hotels, not just holiday inns. I am a former platinum member, but now gold. I would not recommend this location. I was not impressed with the front desk service.... A frequent traveler for almost 40 years, I would not say they were amazing unless they are. The property is clean, well organized and the staff are ready to meet any need. Although a frequent user of IHG properties, I found myself disappointed in the quality of this hotel, especially compared to other IHG hotels. It felt like an older casino-type hotel, and the lack of service during our dining experience was disappointing. I typically don't write negative reviews, but I was disappointed overall with this stay compared to others. March 31, 2013

Even though we just live down the street I take my kids here on a regular basis....The second floor is a kids paradise..In the pool area they have a kiddie pool, nicely heated larger pool and a hot tub...Also there is a huge play structure and play area for the kids..Its AWESOME !!....My absolute favorite part though is that you are allowed to bring your own food and beverages into this area..(no glass bottles)... The rooms are nice and service has always been great !! The kids eat free is a great bonus too !! My only wish is that they would have deals for locals... March 13, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always Comfortable Always Friendly We use this hotel on a regular basis. The staff is incredibly friendly and always welcoming. I have recommended this hotel to many of my friends and they always give me a good thumbs up for choice because of the staff and room comfort. The pool area is very family friendly and since the upgrade to the pool area, I find it more relaxing for family as I can see my kids from the pool area easily. I look forward to seeing the changes that they are making to the rooms on the Second Floor and what plans they have. My only negative comment would be with the TV channel choices. Just recently, they moved to an HD version of Shaw and the selection of stafions is horrible. If you are into news channels and sports, you may like it but for those that like the speciality channels like Spike, AMC, Showcase, CMT, they are no longer available. I know, why are you in a hotel to watch TV but some of the time, it is just nice. They still do have movie selections and those programs are great as well. No matter, we will continue to be guests at this hotel when we are in the city. March 2, 2013

I'd stay here again but would probably eat out. Rooms were clean, some outdated decore and fixtures. I didn't like the crib for our baby, the mattress didn't fit properly (space between bars & mattress) and was a bit "rickety" however baby slept in it. February 23, 2013

Grant in Reservations is always helpful and ensures I get the type of room I am requesting. The front desk staff are awesome! They always smile do whatever they can to make me feel at home. Dennis & Raul dropped us off or picked us up at the airport and they too are great guys! The upgrades to the hotel are really nice and bringing it up to date. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Frequently in Winnipeg and stay here... Staff are great from Front Desk , Restaurant, Cleaning Staff and the Shuttle Drivers! Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Close to shopping, and downtown. Decor is somewhat outdated, but the consistency of a good room is wonderful. The parking garage requires a bit of skill for those of us who are challenged by trying to get into small spaces, however, there is ample outdoor parking as well. Pool area is very nice and kids as well as adults enjoy it! Highly recommend this hotel! January 29, 2013

I was not able to come in the night before but wanted to stay night after holiday. Front desk said this was ok but after talking to reservations this was not an option. They have lost a customer who would have come here faithfully for years. Hopefully this message is heard and this policy will change. January 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel close to The Keg This hotel has an onsite restaurant which is OK but for lunch or dinner I prefer to go to The Keg across the street. This is an older hotel. I have experienced on a number of occasions problems with the heating in the room. (no or low heat) You have to call maintenance to get it fixed which usually gets the job done. They have a hotel shuttle which is helpful and often eliminates the need for a rental car. If you have a car there is underground parking which is good in the winter. This is my preferred hotel in Winnipeg. January 20, 2013

The restaurant staff very efficient in what they do and always make you feel at home. The front desk staff are always on the spot to help or check you in and out. I have stayed here on business for years and have always recommended this hotel to my associates and friends. The litmus test came this last few visits when my neat freak wife came with me for a few stays. She was overly impressed with the really friendly folks that worked here and felt comfortable and didn't feel compelled to clean anywhere! January 8, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by This stay was not to good We have stayed at this hotel before and have always loved it. The pool, room, staff and restaurant are all great. We had an issue with our booking. I had booked 2 rooms. One for me and one for my sister in law. They got our rooms mixed up, gave us the wrong room keys and then charged the wrong credit cards for the rooms and room servies bills. There was no compensation offered. We will be back to this hotel again because in the past we have had NO issues. I will have to assume that this was just a "random" mistake. But I was still very dissappointed that not even a sorry was offfed up to us. January 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Needs Updating! My wife and I have regularly stayed at this hotel since the 1980s as the location suits our needs. Additionally, one of the big selling points for us is the underground (heated) parking. Love those Winnipeg winters! The staff, some of who have been there for many years, are exceptional. Having stated that, the hotel is long overdue for a major updating. The rooms are virtually unchanged from our first visit 20+ years ago. The bathroom fixtures are very dated - cracks in sink/tub, etc. As stated, the staff do a great job of looking after the guests but the reality is that they have unfortunately not been given much to work with. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great family hotel We enjoy the Pirates Cove play area and pool. It is a great place for our 5 year old to burn off the extra energy after riding in the car for many hours. He loves the play structure. We enjoy the area to lounge where we can sit at tables or on couches, watch him playing and have a snack and a drink while we relax. Thank you for having life jackets available for the children in the pool. That is well set up. Ice machines available and a fridge in our room are much appreciated, so we can bring fruit and drinks to have small snacks in our room. I appreciate that the hotel offers 4 wrist bands for children per room and provides a coupon so kids eat free. We find the breakfast in the restaurant a bit high priced, but it is good food and good service. The Coffee to Go cup is a really nice touch, for travellers. We have stayed here 3 times in the past 2 years and will continue to stay here in future. January 2, 2013
