I stay at at Holiday Inn's 40 + times a year easily. The quality of this particular HIG has suffered over the years.

Bed and pillows are comfortable, TV gets mucho cable channels, desk and chair are excellent for computer work, internet is fast, room lighting is adequate, bathroom is clean and everything works, shower has a lot of water pressure, but no microfridge in the room to keep my medicine cool.
Breakfast is a very good buffet that also offers eggs cooked to order. Staff works hard to make the buffet fresh all of the time. The dining room is immaculate.
Housekeeping does an excellent job with keeping the room clean and the bed looking nice. However, they love keeping everything orderly which includes the alarm clock that is always facing forward on the night stand and not at you in bed. When 5 am comes you have no desire to get out of bed to see the time.

Bed was comfortable as was the entire room. Great desk to work on with computer. Internet was fast. Bathroom was clean and every thing worked. Ice machine on sixth floor was inoperative. Elevator signs on some floors had been vandalized and have not been repaired in years. First floor exterior door did not lock and security of entire hotel was open to whomever decided to walk in. Front desk new employee was left alone to figure out how to check me in and it took forever. Breakfast was great and well stocked. Hostess (and Host) were friendly and helpful. Overall excellent experience.

I have had more pleasurable stays at other properties. This one started out that way. My experience changed after a few mishaps and a major one when I nor the staff was able to enter my room. After a long two and half hours I was finally in and move to another room though too late for my function that night. The staff did their best to accommodate in light of everything. Needless to say I doubt I will visit that particular location again but I am open to continue using Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

We have stayed at this location on a number of occasions. Overall, we have found the service and stay to be very good. During a recent weekend where the hotel was unusually busy we noted a real strain on the hotel staff that impacted our stay. The challanges included a lack of coffee and tea at both the Priority Level as well as in the vicinity of the front desk. We had requested a second set of bath towels to be delivered to our room and the front desk handed us towels from the gym. Lastly, we were double billed for our stay and when I called the front desk from home to report the issue, I was quickly dismissed and hung up on. I had to follow-up with the hotel manager directly to get resolution but never got an apology for their clerical error. I hope this was a one-off occasion.

I have stayed here many times and each time they have been very kind and accomadating. When in Winston Salem this is my hotel of choice!
