Always stay at Holiday Inns when in GB. This one rates among the best we have used. Staff were really great. The only thing that was disappointing was that the mushy peas were liquid (so nothing big). Well placed for the M6 motorway, car park is at the edge of the motorway, but once in the hotel no noise from it.

This was our first time staying at this hotel and it was quite the experience! We should've been warned of things to come when, upon check-in, we were informed the room key machine was not working, so there was a queue of guests waiting at the front desk to be escorted to their rooms by staff in order to be let in. This happened each time you had to leave your room. The key machine wasn't working the whole time we were there, and judging by how important it is and how inconvenient it was for everyone involved, they might have had a spare machine to use?
The room was very nice, but air conditioning in one side of the hotel was not working, so quite hot in the room.
Then, after a very long day of travel, we went to the lounge to get some dinner, only to be told that the wait for food would be over an hour as they had 3 different functions going on in the hotel and the functions were being served first. We were offered brochures for take-away pizza.
I think that functions are an extra income for the hotels and should not be to the detriment of paying room guests. We decided to pass the time before dinner by going for a swim, only to be told the pool was closed due to the problem with key card entry.
By this time we were more than a little fed-up with the whole situation, decided to skip any dinner and wait until breakfast. Asked for 2 of the discounted breakfast vouchers and were told by receptionist she would add them to our account straight away. You guessed it, after a very mediocre breakfast (compared to many other Holiday Inns).. we were charged the full 27 pounds for 2 breakfasts on our bill. We had to dispute the charge, saying we had ordered the coupons the night before, had been assured they would be posted to our account..
I think with all of the problems the hotel had going on, and all of the experiences we had while while there, something should have been done as compensation, but nothing was offered.
To be fair, the receptionist on the first night was very friendly, even through her very stressful situations.

On checking into the hotel the staff were busy dealing with a school prom and it took time to check in.
On arriving in the room it was found to have faulty air conditioning unit. I telephoned reception and raised the issue. The manager said he would send up maintenance to fix the problem. After waiting approximately 2 hours and numerous phone calls to reception, I decided to go to the front desk and find out what is going on as it was now midnight and we had been travelling all day from scotland.
on arrival at reception the duty manager had changed over and no information had been passed on so we were back to square one.
The manager told us that they did not have any maintenance on during the night period,so we had basically been lied to by the previous manger. We were offered a room change the next day,which we accepted and complimentary breakfast for the duration of our stay.
due to the function the previous night breakfast was to be honest dire ,all the food was cold and inedible.
I do not recommend staying at this holiday inn

Very quick check in ,friendly staff ,lovely spacious room ,very clean and tidy. evening meal was very fulfilling with service second to none.Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of lovely food available.i had an english breakfast and it certainly set me up for the day..on this occasion i could find no critisism or fault at all. thank you

Stayed weekend of June 27th for 2 nights. Had pre booked at very good rate and had upgrade to executive room. I had asked for sofa bed to be made up as I have difficulties sleeping and didn't want to disturb my husband - this was done. Friendly welcome at check in, great location as we were visiting family in area. The breakfast service on both mornings (Saturday and Sunday) was disappointing - no fresh tea or coffee, just made up in jugs, and the staff were in weekend mode - not really bothered about guests - I wonder if they are like this during the week with business residents? Having said that, we will definitely come back as the special pre paid rate was VERY attractive! Our room was very clean and comfortable and quiet as it was at back of hotel ( room 228 )

This was my first visit to the Walsall area in over 30 years. My stay at the Holiday Inn (be only one night) was an excellent experience helped by the friendly and helpful staff at the Holiday Inn.

Another excellent experience in Walsall. I organised this event with the fantastic support of Claire , nothing is too much trouble for Claire as she attempts to match her customers aspirations. Vicky on Reception was great, greeted guests with a smile and a warm welcome, full of confidence, she dealt with minor issues brilliantly and without any fuss. Andrew led the event team, he is professional, approachable and flexible and also ensured all guests had a great night. Highlight of the night was the BBQ, Master Chef briefed me brilliantly on how the BBQ would be cooked and served, and we were not let down. Food and its presentation was outstanding. I would highly recommend anybody to eat at this hotel. I have now attended a Dinner and a BBQ at this hotel and the staff can not be faulted. Yes, If you wanted you could find fault but the Staff make every attempt to please and try to ensure guests have a pleasurable experience. Thank you again, we'll be back !

This is one of the better of the Holiday Inns we have stayed in as it benefits from a great restaurant and swimming pool etc. It does however get very busy as there tends to be weddings here most saturdays and sometimes 2 at once! When this happens they appear far too short staffed and standards slip however this would not put me off booking again

Having arrived after a long drive, we found the room we booked was not as per the description. We spoke to the duty manager who was very polite and accommodating, given that there was a wedding reception taking place and he was understandably under pressure.
The outcome was we had an enjoyable stay because of the great staff and management attention.

On our arrival we were greeted by an extremely friendly lady and gentleman. They were super, offered us complimentary tea or coffee and couldn't have done anymore. The room is excellent, clean, tidy, fresh and spacious. There was an issue with the TV working which was sorted asap. There is a pool, which is small, but enables relaxation. Rooms are not topped up with water/tea/coffee each day which was the only, if, negative I would have. A great experience for a great price! Highly recommended.

I have stayed here multiple times and can honestly say it is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.
Upon check in the service was absolutely excellent (once we were upgraded free of charge to an executive suite due to a internet booking error!) and staff are friendly, helpful and sincere. Too often with large hotel chains the service seems forced and false, but that is not the case with this hotel. Last time I was checked in by Alex (I think!) who was very polite and charming. The attitude of the staff really does make a difference, especially to a young woman travelling alone, I instantly felt comfortable and at ease.
Every room I have stayed in has been immaculately clean, modern and comfortable. I have stayed in 5 star hotels for triple the cost that do not even come close to this hotel.
Highly recommended, excellent staff and the best nights sleep I've had in ages.

Maybe my understanding is wrong, but I thought Holiday Inn was suposed to be slightly better than Holiday inn express. Having stayed in an "express" the night before, I can tell you it was not on this ocasion.
Mould on bathroom ceiling is never a good sign, although rest of room was fine. Problem was location, room on ground floor got lots of passing traffic, doors slamming and a wafer thin door on my room resullted in lots of noise and a poor nights sleep, and Iam a heavy sleeper.
Restaurant was set up as a temporary affair due to event at hotel, staff whilst pleasant appeared poorly trained and could offer only one type of red wine??
I would drive past this hotel to get to an " Express".

difficult to locate initially,poor signage ,location within earshot of busy M6 motorway.have to drive into Walsall for amenities.Saturday night extremely busy with weddings and other receptions so had to go out of hotel for dinner.Staff very friendly and helpful,would recommend for short stay only

Arrived late and asked for a late check out as I had a full days work ahead of me driving and setting up a show. Was allocated room on the ground floor and found urine on the toilet seat so had to clean myself. Didn't want to make a fuss.
Woke around 8.30am to the sound of maids in the hallway laughing and chattering followed by young kids running up and down the corridor but managed to get back to sleep to be woken about 1 hour later by a conference occupying 3 rooms opposite my room and they were all taking a coffee break outside my room .
I was very annoyed at this point so went to the front desk to complain and was greeted by a very ignorant receptionist who while painfully listening to my grievances replied with "Why are you blaming me" I was not passing blame I merely wanted an apology and some kind of explanation why they would have conference rooms right next to bedrooms and why they would put me there if we were late arrivals and needed to sleep in late.
Would not book there again.

I was so pleased with the quality of this hotel, especially in the light of what I paid. Hotel lobby was welcoming and clean and room was of a very high standard. I noticed around 8.30pm that the heating wasn't working in the room and it felt a bit chilly, but the duty manager sorted this out in no time. I would definitely stay there again. Just three things that would have made it better:
1. More staff on check in desk. The staff were superb, but could have done with 2 people on the desk in busy periods. I checked in at 5.30pm and out at 10.15am and it took around 10 minutes each time.
2. You have to get a keycard each time you want to use the leisure facilities. Why not issue one on arrival for the duration of your stay? This led to more time queuing at the already busy check in desk.
3. Affordable breakfast. The room value was great, but the add on value for breakfast was £19 just for me. This may have been a glitch, but if not, this is a ridiculous price which is why I sorted breakfast elsewhere.
Did you also know that the website is contradictory regarding the internet. It says:
Standard Internet service is free for all guests
Then a few lines down says:
Standard Room Wireless Fee for Non-Elite IHG® Rewards Club
This implies there is some kind of internet access (non wifi, so Ethernet?) that is free for all which there isn't.
