Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by geordie47 Birthday celebration in York
We usually book Holiday Inns as you know they are going to be good. I normally book breakfast in advance so I was quite surprised to find no staff to take my name and room number on the first morning ,I could have walked in off the street and got a free beakfast. There was a staff member on the second morning but they had gone when we went out. In saying that the breakfast was good and we were well looked after by the staff

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Adammara Golden Wedding break
A belated short break here booked to celebrate our Golden Wedding earlier in the month, the staff at reception and in the restaurant were fantastic, and made our stay very enjoyable, our executive room was fine and in a good state of repair, nice and warm, and a comfortable bed.
Great staff on the Sunday night, found out they were staff from the Brighouse HI, covering for the normal staff who were having a belated Christmas party! We hoped that the regular staff were as good, and they were!
The restaurant staff were very helpful, we were able to 'mix and match' our meals, having a combination of meals in the restaurant, or in the lounge a couple of times. Getting into York was easy, bus stops just a couple of hunred metres away.
So many comments about the small bathroom, but after going on river and ocean cruises, we found it OK, and certainly a lot better than our experience on Celebrity Constellation a couple of years ago.
A great stay, and we hope to go again when its warmer! We did have a couple of niggles, housekeeping must have seen there were 2 of us in the room, but why did we get provisions for one on the hospitality tray, every day we had to get extra from the helpful reception staff! Might of been nice of them to mark our special anniversary with a bottle of wine as well! But nothing to spoil our stay!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by lindscrow So much more than a motel
Having used Holiday Inn elsewhere and experienced it as the most basic form of hotel I was delighted to discover that York Tadcaster rose above the rest. Indeed our stay was akin to the standard expected at far pricier hotels.
Our family room was really quite luxurious. Spotlessly clean, well equipped with thoughtful extras.
We spent three days in great comfort enjoying sound sleep with all the needed facilities to hand.
When booking online we had thought the price of the room quite extravagant for our requirements but actually it was worth the cost since it completed our short break to York and transpired as a good value choice.
All the staff were supportive and friendly. The only small grievance we had was the Wifi which took some obtaining and did not work as well as hoped with a two device limit per room (three of us in a family room wishing to unwind at the end of long days peacefully, one of us had to go without. Not the end of the world for I always carry a book but still...)
Many thanks to all at York Holiday Inn, a well run and comfortable establishment :-)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Ideal location for short break
We visited as a family for a short break to visit the centre of York and see the various attractions. We found all the staff to be very helpful and pleasant but especially the waitress at Breakfast who should now be enjoying a break in Tenerife!
The room was very comfortable made up nicely for the 3 of us.
Food in the restaurant was of a high quality. Our only gripe would be slight lack of choice as we had same menu to choose from both nights as we were on an inclusive rate, same went for children's menu. Not a great problem but may have been if we were there any longer.
We walked in to York most days, took about 25 mins but you can get a bus from right outside the hotel for about £3 return.
Whilst in York we went to the Minster, Castle Museum, Jorvik experience and the Railway Museum. All are well worth a visit plus there is a good range of shops to browse.
