Today's Berlin is a modern and culturally vibrant city, brimming with beautiful architecture, world-class arts and a thriving nightlife scene. Not to mention, a profusion of museums, monuments and attractions to explore during your Holiday Inn Express® Berlin hotel stay.
Few vestiges remain of the wall that once divided the German capital, and visitors move freely about the city, often unaware which side they are on. Perhaps the most impressive feat is the speed in which Berlin rebuilt itself. The once desolate Potsdamer Platz is now a bustling corporate square with shops, restaurants and luxury condominiums. Catch the latest IMAX movie or German art house film at the Sony Center, a massive retail and entertainment complex located in the heart of Potsdamer Platz.
The Mitte district, formerly part of East Berlin, has become Berlin's city center and a major tourist draw. The tree-lined Unter den Linden leads to the Pariser Platz promenade and towering Brandenburg Gate - one of Berlin's most treasured and beautiful monuments, especially at night when the gates light up. The Reichstag is only a block away, and the 360-degree view from the glass dome roof of this German parliament building is worth the long wait in line.
While you're in the neighborhood, check out Tiergarten Park. Here you'll find the Berlin Zoo, Berlin Philharmonic and some of the most beautiful green spaces and walking paths in the city. The Mitte is also home to the East Berlin art scene, Auguststrasse. If you're looking for ways to save during your Berlin hotel stay, you'll be happy to know that most of the galleries offer free admission.
The Western Zone of Berlin is considered the more commercial side of the city. It also hosts the majority of Berlin's businesses, conventions and festivals. The Ku'Damm (short for Kurfürstendamm) is a popular avenue for its upscale shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs, as well as the greatest concentration of luxury hotels in Berlin. Not too far from the Ku'Damm is Schloss Charlottenburg, the largest palace in Berlin. Despite being burnt to the ground during World Word II, Charlottenburg has been fully restored to its Baroque glory, and both the palace and the grounds are a popular tourist stop.
You many not see it all in one visit, but our Holiday Inn Express Berlin hotels can put you near the major attractions on your list.
I truly liked my stay there: the staff members were all very friendly and made me feel special. I was recognised and nothing was too much. I felt like at home in that intimate boutique hotel.[Less]

By geriatric traveller
very good in every respect and only disadvantage was too far from City Centre and commuter traffic on local roads was noisy from early morning[Less]
Very spacious rooms, although designed in a weird way (looks like a nightclub). Pity is the light isolation, sun shining through everywhere. Good breakfast and friendly staff.[Less]
Great room and excellent service
Everything was outstanding: the location, the valet service, the room, the lounge was fantastic and the service was very, very good.[Less]
Reliable Intercontinental stay in Berlin
Great stay at the Berlin Intercontinental. We enjoyed a large, well featured room that was a comfort to come back to at the end of a full day of sightseeing. The staff were very friendly and[More] attentive staff and willingly addressed the few issues we had. One of the best breakfasts you could want.
