We had a gorgeous view from the corner room and word got out that we were celebrating a birthday, so several staff members wished us a happy birthday during our stay. It was a very sweet touch! [Less]
One of the best Intercontinental's in the world!
By AndyL1506
This is hands down one of the nicest Intercontinental's in the country. Other than an isolated incident with a an extremely rude Bartender, this stay was perfect in every way imaginable. The I'm I [More] certainly will not let the incident with the Bartender influence my review. For the sake of the review I'm just going to pretend I had no interaction with said Bartender. (I do feel as though I should mention this... When the hotel got word of what transpired at the bar they immediately reached out to me to resolve the problem.) It's gestures like this that make the Intercontinental stand out as a true luxury brand. In my opinion the Intercontinental has always been seen as a "business luxury" brand as opposed to a true stand out luxury hotel. Well I can think off three locations off the top of my head that are breaking that mold.. I’m sure there are many more, these just came to mind immediately. The Intercontinental San Francisco, The Intercontinental Boston, and The Intercontinental NYC Times Square are all examples of how this amazing brand is proving without any doubts that they are hands down a true luxury brand that will leave you feeling well rested and already thinking about how soon you can stay again before you’ve even checked out. Now on the the specifics. I arrived in SFO around 4pm on the DeltaOne transcon flight from JFK. Once at the hotel, check in took no more than 60 seconds. I was given the keys to my room, which was an incredible suite on the top floor with Club Lounge access. (Ambassador Upgrade) The room itself was a beautiful suite. There was a letter from the GM along with fresh fruit and two bottles of water, one still & one sparkling waiting in the room. I also noticed a small hand written note on the bed in the Master a Bedroom. The note simply stated that as I had requester 2 extra pillows and 4 extra washcloth's had been placed in the room prior to my arrival. When you first entered the suite the guest bathroom was immediately on your right. For a guest bath, this was a very large area. A few feet past the bathroom was the living / dining area.” The dining room table comfortably sat 4. Just beyond that was the living area which included a desk, an over sized sofa and the largest TV I've ever seen in a hotel room. The TV in the bedroom was equal in size. The TV in the master bath was around 32". The master bath was almost the same size as the bedroom itself. The had a deep soaking tub in addition to a very large walk in shower. The bathroom and shower were stocked with full size premium toiletries. Final thought….. This is one of the very best Intercontinental's I've ever stayed at! [Less]

Great location and friendly staff
By CF220
Our visit was only because we were stranded on the West Coast because of an East Coast Snow Storm. We chose this hotel for proximity to the wharf along with price. We checked in very late and Brandy [More] at the front desk was wonderful in her greeting and attitude! She helped us find a place to eat late at night and was very friendly every time we passed the front desk! The room was extremely clean and large for a city hotel. The breakfast was more than continental, which was a welcome surprise. Waking up the next morning, we realized how close we actually were to the attractions we were hoping to see for our one day layover. Two blocks from the wharf, close to shopping, restaurants, cable cars, bridge, alcatraz! Would stay again [Less]
Clean Updated Rooms
By beachgal1958
I was very happy with my room. It was clean and where it was located I had a great view of the Fisherman's Wharf area. But because we were right over a main street it could get a little noisy, but [More] not so much that it kept me up or woke me up. The "great room" had ample seating, and it was clean and well maintained. The breakfasts were good. One of the heating areas for eggs, bacon, biscuits didn't have a front cover, so those eggs tended to get colder faster, other than that I have no complaints. There were lots of restaurants and things to do well within walking distance. Pier 39 was only 5-10 minute walk in one direction and Ghirardelli Square was 5-10 minutes in the other direction. Over all it was a great experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to visit that area. [Less]

Great hotel for last minute booking
By Cathrun
Very quiet for location (next to busy Hwy 101 and San Francisco Airport). If you are looking for a quiet, clean place to stay look no further. If you are looking for ambiance consider looking [More] elsewhere. Great big spacious room. The TV's are terrible. Small and horrible reception. Perhaps we are just spoiled with HD TV at home but this TV was really small considering size of room. [Less]
Immaculate rooms and fantastic service!
By ed9393
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were greeted by very friendly staff who proved to be very courteous efficient, helpful and anticipated our every need! They were genuinely concerned that our stay [More] be as enjoyable as possible. Our room was excellent! The bed was very comfortable. The layout was logical and efficient. It was immaculately clean. The decor created an atmosphere that was warm and inviting. Thank you Holiday Inn for providing us with such a wonderful experience! [Less]
