Featured Roanoke Hotels

Make yourself at home in our Holiday Inn Express® hotels in Roanoke, a leafy valley city at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You'll soon be strolling the revitalized downtown, growing nostalgic for the city's railroad past or motoring along scenic Blue Ridge Parkway.

Roanoke's emblematic touchstone, the massive illuminated star atop Mill Mountain, is visible from much of the city as it shines until midnight. Our Roanoke hotels are close to the vintage brick storefronts in the city's revitalized downtown, built when Roanoke was a booming rail hub, and the factory where brawny Norfolk & Western Railway steam locomotives were manufactured. The gorgeous photographs hanging in downtown's O. Winston Link Museum deliver you back to the era of steam trains chugging through Appalachia. The entrance fee also admits you to the History Museum of Western Virginia nearby, where you can see colorful 19th-century quilts and other regional artifacts.

Downtown Roanoke is your best bet for thrifty diversions. Savor a burger at the Texas Tavern or down-home pulled pork at Blues BBQ. Buy a box of fresh strawberries and other locally grown produce at the daily farmer's market downtown. From our hotels in Roanoke, you're surrounded by the sublime Blue Ridge Mountains, and a quick drive outside city limits takes you to the curving Blue Ridge Parkway. But you don't have to head into the Blue Ridge to experience mountain scenery: Take a carefree drive up Mill Mountain inside Roanoke's city limits to see sweeping views of the valley below.

Book a room at our Holiday Inn Express hotels in Roanoke to discover the city's revitalized downtown, its unpretentious eateries and affordable regional museums. The spirit of the Norfolk & Western Railway awaits you when you stay at our Roanoke hotels.

Nice clean facility, friendly staff

Overall a nice place to stay. Room was not dark enough in the morning as screen curtain do not overlap and morning sun filtered in, Breakfast choices can be improved. [Less]
Better Breakfast
By JBandFriends
Most hotels where we have stayed provide some sort of breakfast. The breakfast at this Holiday Inn Express is what I would consider average, which means it could be improved. Having real bacon and/or [More] scrambled eggs vs the prepackaged type, and waffles or pancakes batter provided which can be cooked on site. [Less]
Poor Breakfast inventory.
By Mark201
When I came to the Eating area the food choice was poor due to the amount left in the containers. Most if not all of the choices were below half if not empty. When I asked the staff to please refill [More] I was told it would be 20-30 minutes. [Less]
Rooms need to be more accessible for disabled guests.
By Carhugh
Accessible rooms only have doors that are a little larger. There are not any accessible showers or toilets. No grab bars. The baby boomers have a lot of knees and hips replaced. More accessible rooms [More] would certainly make it easier on them. [Less]

Excellent service,comfortable bed, great food
By Big Robin
I was truly impressed with the excellent service, the staff was wonderful, and very nice. I slept like a baby, I really did not want to get out of bed and go to my daughters graduation. That's how [More] comfortable the bed was, and I have a bad back, but my back didn't hurt when I got out of bed. I will be changing my mattress at home. I really enjoyed the variety of breakfast food. I had the biscuit and gravy for breakfast. My niece had pancakes and sausage. My daughter had eggs bacon, and toast. Big thank you to the whole staff!!!!! Robin [Less]
