As a guest of one of our Holiday Inn Express® New Orleans hotels, you’ll enjoy the rich history, great music and diverse culture and cuisine of Louisiana’s most celebrated city.
Hop on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar and tour the beautiful Southern mansions of the Garden District or spend the day – if not your entire New Orleans hotel stay – wandering the charming streets of the French Quarter. There’s art and antiques on Royal Street, trendy boutiques and gift shops on Magazine Street and lively street performers and musicians in Jackson Square. Enjoy a cup of chicory coffee and fresh beignets on the patio of Café Du Monde or duck into one of the Quarter’s seemingly hole-in-the-wall restaurants for authentic Creole gumbo and spicy jambalaya. Bourbon Street can be a bit of a tourist trap during the day, but once the sun goes down, New Orleans’ famous party district earns its reputation. Enjoy sugary-sweet rum hurricanes and authentic New Orleans jazz as you dance the night away in Bourbon’s legendary bars and clubs.
If you’re willing to venture out of the city center during your stay at our New Orleans hotels, stop by one of the above-ground cemeteries. St. Louis is the oldest (dating back to 1789), and its hauntingly beautiful tombs have been featured in major Hollywood movies and works of fiction. Tour groups are your best and safest bet here; although, carriage tours of the cemetery can be a real treat. New Orleans carriage drivers are all certified tour guides, and their knowledge of the city’s history and culture, as well as their local flavor and spin are far better than any travel book.
Of course, this is only a sampling of what the Big Easy has to offer our New Orleans hotel guests. Time your visit during Mardi Gras or Jazz Fest to experience the lavish and boisterous festivals that make this city so special.
