This HIE had excellent customer reception staff during our recent stay, when they were very busy due to many Schiphol flight cancellations. The room was good quality to value relationship but it was at a slightly lower weekend price; when we hit the weekday rate we moved on as it then seemed expensive. It was a good stay at a hotel with good transport connections - tram at the door to both the city and the local rail station to Schiphol. One concern aspect was that the room walls seemed poor regarding sound insulation from other rooms - only minus.

My stay in Amsterdam was at the very least to say acceptable. When I arrived at 10 pm I was barely greeted by the hotel staff. The gentlemen (who’s name I did not get) was sitting down at the lounge chairs and slowly got up to say hi. He had all of my information set aside, but did not ask to see any ID of me nor my companion who joined me on the trip. This was quite upsetting as if someone would have said my name I am sure they would have given my information to that person. He then asked if I wanted a drink or 300 extra points as a Spire Elite Member in a rude mood. I could tell that he just wanted to go back and sit on his phone as before so I said add the points to my account (which have yet to be added). The staff gave no information about how to get to the city center, or close stores or restaurants, which made me upset even more.
One person who I would give high standards to is Alejandra, who helped my college and I with renting bikes. She was very friendly and always made sure I felt welcomed, she is an remarkable benefit to the team in Amsterdam.
I would not stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Amsterdam again, nor do I have any ambition to go back to Amsterdam. The service was below expectations (besides Alejandra), as each night I came back to the front staff sitting on the couch on their phones and not seeming to care who walked in or out of the hotel. Very disappointed in the level of professionalism for Holiday Inn Express, and the recognition of Spire Elite Members.

Not a big hotel but it is good enough.
Not far from Amsterdam, train and tram is just only 1 minute walk from hotel. Staff and service is the most fantastic. Recommend to stay !!
