Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Low price but high standards and quality I recently had reason to complain about a stay at a different Holiday Inn where I found the service disproportionate to the charge and sadly won't be returning however I also felt compelled to write a review about a stay at the other end of the spectrum at this hotel in Braintree where the costs were very low and therefore even though I know the brand standards, my overall expectations were geared to what I was paying. I could not have been more wrong!! From the moment I entered until the moment I left I actually felt like I was on a pleasure trip staying with friends as opposed to a dull business necessity. Julie in particular was friendly and jovial without being robotic or overly have a nice day friendly as others can be. Julie and her colleague Lucy were fantastic making conversation as I checked and even after I did. Needing to stay at hotels a lot for work can be very lonely but when i came down to order food they were so welcoming and warm without being intrusive and made the need to have a meal a real pleasant experience. The service didn't stop there with the menus being presented very well and food presentation being something I'd expect in a full service restaurant. It seemed that while only having a few dishes to offer limited the range it by no means translated into the presentation and service which made my ordinary lasagne quite an experience, even down to the flair of bringing me cutlery and warning me which plate not to touch as it was too hot. The most important factor for many travellers would be my assessment that I found the room a very good size and a smart TV that connected to my phone allowing me to stream media onto it, again not something I would have expected for a £39 Express hotel. The bathroom with separate toiletries in the shower as opposed to a generic liquid soap that some hotels purport as shampoo and even down to having a shelf seat in the shower really made every element of the stay a pleasant experience. When I came to check out I was met by a different member of staff called Sarah who was again warm and bubbly making conversation and halfway through the checkout Julie came out and remembered me immediately asking how my stay was and I personally thanked the staff at this point telling them how superior i found their service compared to other more expensive hotels in the group. I asked all staff for their names and informed them i would pass on this feedback as this hotel goes to show that costs should not dictate the level of service you should receive. This hotel was my finial visit of 2014 and also the lowest priced but conversely one of the best I have had all year. I need to work in the Essex area every 3 months and have to say this hotel will certainly be getting repeat business from me and be recommended to all my colleagues. If you need to stay in the area and feel that this hotel with its lower price mark means lower service then let me reassure you that you will be as pleasantly surprised as I with just how much value for money you get here. 23. Rated 3,0 out of 5,0 by Juts one night.. Staying for a morning flight the next day....the room nothing special but clean and tidy but I do prefer a bath to shower only. Handy for the Carvery across the car park for dinner and frankly I would go there for breakfast too ; as that at the hotel not very nice at all ; hot but just poor quality esp. sausage and eggs 22. What was unacceptable was the lack of any Bacon on the menu. Sausage, egg and beans only available. this is nuts, in a British hotel. 18. Dezember 2014

Rated 4,0 out of 5,0 by Decent Very happy with room for cleanliness and space on offer for a fair mid week price. Local amenities offer a toby carvery restaurant within close walking distance for good quality pub grub and a range of drinks at reasonable prices. Breakfast finished at 9am which I felt was a bit early. I arrived at breakfast at 9.20am believing it would be served until 9.30am and a kind member of staff fetched me so pastries and cereal from the kitchen as all the hot buffet food had only just been removed. Tea, coffee and juice as all self service. Friendly staff. Would stay again and get up earlier for the cooked breakfast option. 16. Dezember 2014
