Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Almost good but needs a little bit more comfort. The stay for my family and myself was good but there were two issues of note. If staying longer than a few nights, you need to be allocated a room which can accommodate a family and luggage. Our original room was too small but we were switched over then next day by extremely helpful staff. The breakfast was great and kept hot. The only downside was the sofa bed. My daughter found it very uncomfortable. I would ask IHG to look into replacing these as competitors have very comfy beds for children. It is very difficult to sleep on hard metal polls and no headboard. I challenge you to try a sofa bed for a night and see how comfy they are. April 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful staff and comfortable surroundings A nice hotel with very friendly, efficient staff, who assisted me with directions to the local exhibition centre. They also provided me with a toothbrush and toothpaste as I had forgot mine - excellent. The room was spacious, comfortable bed with good facilities, such as a great shower and fast reliable internet connection. Check in and out was really fast and I was greeted as an IHG Reward Club member with a letter confirming my free internet access, and I was also provided with my reward points total. I will always stay at this hotel in Exeter.... as it also shares evening dining with The Ban Owl!! Many Thanks. April 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rarely empty. This hotel is rarely empty nowadays. I have been coming here for several years and have seen many changes; introduction of hot breakfasts, room refreshes, staff changes, but the volume of guests seems to be at an all-time high nowadays. This can mean a wait at the bar sometimes, as bar staff double as reception staff, but they are very friendly and work well to get their customers served - unlike other hotels I've stayed in, the staff don't hide in the back room here. The number of guests can mean the dining room is sometimes overwhelmed at busy breakfast times and I don't think the removal of "self clear" tables was a wise move. In fact, I wish they would go back to asking guests to remove their tray and dishes when leaving the breakfast room. It would certainly free up tables for others to use. Other HIE hotels have very recently added usb ports to the bedside - this would be very welcome here too, as would more electrical sockets. Overall though I had a good stay and will be coming back again before long. April 18, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Disabled cared for in great rooms. We stayed at the Holiday Inn a few years ago and it was average so we were not expecting anything special. We were very surprised see our adjoining rooms and the care that had been taken over the decor and comfort for a disabled person. Again we were expecting just a continental breakfast and were so pleased to see a wonderful choice of breakfast from bacon, sausage and egg to muffins and yogurt.The whole stay was great value for money.
