Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Huge potential! But much room for improvement! Being in an area where there is much better competition, this hotel needs to step up and realise it´s potential. On arrival the hotel reception areas was poorly lit, very uninviting and just outright outdated. Colour scheemes and interiors were very lacklustre. Reception staff were adequately friendly. But did not win us over with any real charm or personality. They could have been more pro-active with the offering of maps, local area information etc. Or in the least referred us to the brochure stand next to the ice machine. Our room with two beds was wasted on us as we were just one couple. The extra bed was unmade and had a pile of bed linen just dumped on the top! The light in the toilet flickered on and off 24/7. And this issue should´ve been clearly apparent to the room attendants prior to our arrival. There were no towel racks to hang our large towels (and no!!! thte one in the toilet does not count). The small rack at the wash basin was only big enough for a hand towel. Disposable plastic cups provided are environmentally unfriendly AND tacky. And seeming as the hotel provided an ice machine (in the reception area) common sense dictates that the hotel must provide ALL rooms with an ice bucket. As there was no mini fridge and no ice buckets we could not keep our drinks chilled when we needed to. Breakfast was just adequate. Cereals, yoghurts, breads, juices and spreads fine. Coffee horrible!! But the scrambled eggs were tasteless (packeted or powered maybe?!), and there was absolutely no vegetables to eat on the side (No tomato, cucumber, mushrooms, capsicum). So altogether rather dull and unexciting. I´ve never seen breakfast staff clear up so quickly. At precisely the time the staff started clearing up. So much for enjoying breakfast without feeling rushed. Breakfast staff seemed unsmiling and disinterested in their guests. The plus sides are few. But location is great. Beds were comfortable. And ease of check-in/out were good. And the Wifi was free and were efficiently. The clichéd expression `you get for what you paid for´should not apply to ANY hotel in this day and age. Even a lower star rated and budget class establishment has the potential to do well and receive much better feedback. In this age of alternative and unique accommodation options and web sites, a hotel should seek and strive to be better than average. And try to be the best it can regardless of it´s market/target cllientele. It should step up and prove itself worthy among the bigger fish. Holiay Inn Express London-Royal Docklands can do so much better. Stop being complacent! Lift your game! Because you have lost another return client. And word of mouth speaks volumes. June 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service An excellent service from this Hotel. We came to London on a sightseeing visit and had a great time. The location of the Hotel gave us the opportunity to experience the Cable Car and Clipper , Water taxi, for transport rather than just the London Underground. The Hotel itself was immaculate with a spacious room for our family of 3. Breakfast was self service and you could eat as much or as little s you required with the hot food being replaced regularly to ensure hot, fresh food being served. Nothing was oo much trouble for the staff. Will definely return to stay if visiting London again. June 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good hotel in good location The hotel provided all the services expected in commendable fashion, car parking, comfortable room, good breakfast and pleasant staff. We choose this particular hotel because of its location next to the London Bus Terminal of Canning Town (short walk away) from where you get anywhere in London at low price. June 9, 2016
