Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by TravelingAlpaca Fantastic Hotel for San Francisco Visitors
This hotel was very well rated so I decided to visit and it really exceeded my every expectation. San Francisco was our last vacation destination on a trip through the Southwest. I arrived fairly late at night after an exhausting nine hour drive from Las Vegas and was greeted warmly at the reception desk.
In the morning I was happy to see that it was literally just a stone's throw away from the beach. It was a breathtaking and amazing sight, especially after having been in Phoenix and Vegas in the week leading up to my stay at the HIE Pacifica.
The hotel itself is very clean and well cared for. The rooms were very comfortable and felt nice and homelike. The decor was cute with a tasteful, light yellow striped wallpaper, and nice ocean-themed imagery on the walls. We had the best nights of sleep of our trip at this hotel. Just like other Holiday Inn Expresses the TV channel selection was excellent and better than what I get at home. Despite being right on PCH I found it to be surprisingly nice and quiet and the beds were very comfortable.
The room had a kitchenette that featured a sink, microwave, coffee maker, and minifridge. A small, but thoughtful touch, was how disposable plates and utensils were available in the kitchenette cabinet. The bathroom was similarly well supplied and had beach towels and an extra wrapped roll of toilet paper sitting in a basket.
The free breakfast isn't gourmet, but you can have warm cinnamon buns, eggs, bacon, and sausage which is amazing for a free hotel breakfast buffet. The seating area was in the lobby and was small, but sufficient and you could see the ocean through the windows. One caveat of the free breakfast is that it's only available from 6:30am - 9:30am. This wasn't a problem for me, but it could be an issue for night owls and late risers. A couple of mornings I got up early, ate breakfast, then brought a plate of food back up to the room for my friends to eat when they woke up. Yogurt, juices, coffee, and milk were available all day.
A minor sticking point for me was the covered parking on the lobby floor of the hotel which was pretty cramped. People with larger cars and SUVs might want to park in one of the spaces across the street on the side of the road just outside the hotel. I was super protective of my rental car so I parked outside. Finding a space was never an issue.
All in all, this hotel is one of my new favorites and was perfect for my visit to San Francisco, but it would be a worthy destination in and of itself for a weekend getaway. The tranquility and proximity to the ocean made the daily 20-30 minute drive into and out of the city worthwhile. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tedlo99 Good Stay
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The complementary breakfast was OK -- nothing special -- but about what you'd expect. The only real deficiency is the lack of any kind of fitness center on the property to do resistance exercises. This was partially offset by the large hill adjacent to the property with a walking path, as well as the many other areas for hiking in the area.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DB26 very nice place to stay
This place is steps from a beach front park, restaurants, and hiking trail. The staff was great, hotel rooms were clean. I was working in downtown SF every day and this place was so relaxing at the end of the day.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JFK44 Room
We have stayed at this Hotel several times in the past with really good experiences. This time we were given a room right outside of Highway 1 (with all of the vehicle noise). The staff accommodated us by moving to a different room on the north side but we still had noise from the highway especially early in the morning. In the 2nd room, the bed mattress was sloping severely to the edge so it was not as comfortable to sleep on. But we had been through one move so we didn't ask to change rooms.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Kermit1212 Good Beach Hotel Outside San Francisco
We stayed here for the quiet beach town location, and drove the 20-30 mins into San Francisco to go to Golden Gate Park and the Presidio. The location was good one block from the ocean, easy to get to restaurants, gas, local stores about 1 mile away. The amenities are pretty basic here, but clean and bright and in generally good condition. Parking is a garage at ground level where you walk into the lobby, and then up the elevator to hotel rooms. Wifi connection in the room was good. Breakfast is the basic Toast/Yogurt/Apple or Banana/ cheap scrambled eggs and sausage - enough to get you out the door until you find better food later.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Rodger8 bed was old and tired...pillows were lumpy...likke the bed
No upgrade offered even though I was a returning guest. Bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever had and so were the pillows.
