Rated 3,0 out of 5,0 by Noisy corridors and full car park I have previously stayed here and found it a great quality hotel. However on this occasion the noise was intrusive. The other guests doors slam shut, the fire door to the lifts does the same.As such get a room away from the stairwell. The car park was an additional charge - what options do you have as a guest? It should be free to IHG members. Instead we pay that national monster who polices car parks such as this by numberplate recognition and billing you later. The car park and wifi used to be free to IHG guests. Instead there is free wifi everywhere for everyone, with a computer and printer in the lobby and a £5 charge per night for parking - which is not guarded or patrolled. As such you can park where and how you like which everyone did, filling the disabled and bus spaces. So, arrive early or have a tiny car! The neighbouring hotel in the Holiday inn has a car park on a separate level where you take the lift to the ground floor, cross the car park and enter the hotel as usual. However I felt vulnerable walking around alone in the dark in the upper car park and to the lift door. There was air-con in the room but I would have preferred none and leave the window closed, but I could not turn it off. The room was perfectly decorated with a good combination of light controls, an attractive bathroom, large shower, hair dryer and tea/coffee making facility. A lovely clean room, Your name appears on the TV welcome screen and the remote control was working. I thought my stay was overpriced and as such I would not stay here again unless I was sharing the room and reduce the cost. The staff here are faultlessly polite and like 5 star staff, pleasant approachable and professional. Also take your earplugs. 21. Juli 2014
Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by fabulous hotel We booked five rooms three months in advance and stayed saturday night for a family reunion party in Sheffield, From the first enquiry to checking out, i couldnt fault the hotel. on arrival the reception staff were very friendly and efficient and had clearly made a note of my special request of an extra sofa bed, (which was made up. a big help) The entire hotel is very modern, spotlessly clean and new. the rooms are spacious with everything a modern traveller could need.. a desk with stationary, luxurious lighting telephone and a large tv and free wi fi, huge modern bathroom with extra touches, hand soap, shower soap and tissues. the offer of fresh clean towels daily and extra personal toiletries was available. The beds were large and immaculately made with both firm and soft pillows. The 'free' breakfast was 'help yourself' continental/hot buffet which was perfect , with extra tea/coffee and juices available throughout the breakfast slot. Evening meals were available. but we decided to have a fresh sandwhich and costa coffee which was lovely. The car park was full when we returned very late at night but two extremely helpful night reception staff kindly showed us to the alternative space just around the corner. thank you. There is absolutely nothing to say against this hotel, i will definitely returning to the Holiday Inn Express, Blonk St, Sheffield, and would also recommend to my friends..i already have!! 20. Rated 5,0 out of 5,0 by Very Comfortable and clean Excellent 2 night stay, comfortable and clean. Nice to have a free breakfast with plenty of choices including hot food. Only gripe being charged £5 a night parking - NCP car park right next door only £2.50! Although hotel is in a newly developed area alongisde several other hotels you do have to walk through a rather run down area of Sheffield to reach main shopping/restaurants, not sure I would like to do it at night. 19. Rated 2,0 out of 5,0 by not great- got some of the basics wrong Forgot to install the booked cot in our room, so when we arrived (late in the evening) we then had to wait 20 minutes before it turned up. It was filthy, and there was no sheet for it (fortunately I'd brought a big muslin with me so we used that). The bathroom was a shower room- have you ever tried to wash a baby in a shower? Again, on booking I had asked for a bath- they seem to have lost all those details. The room was a bit shabby- the curtain had come away from the rail at one end, and the desk looking like it hadn't been prefabbed properly- the right hand end was at a funny angle. The free breakfast is dire- if you are going to offer a limited selection of items, they should be good quality at least. Croissants were greasy, sausages were burnt, orange juice was undrinkable (and a strange dark orange colour). In short really disappointing- especially from a new hotel. 17. Juli 2014

Rated 3,0 out of 5,0 by Staff are blind to filthy furniture Typical HIX room and generally clean. The sofa was very badly stained along the front edge in numerous spots. Rather obvious what it was. Must have been in excess of ten separate marks. How the cleaners could ignore this is staggering. Called reception to report and someone was sent up with a sheet to cover the sofa. Also, the ironing board cover was filthy and worn. Can it be so much for this hotel to have a look at the covers and either occasionally wash or replace. Two of the most disgusting incidents ever in any hotel in any country. Open your eyes people! 14. Juli 2014
